We bought this car 6 years ago in Portland Oregon and shipped it to our home in Massachusetts 3 years ago. Its been our only car for 6 years and has never let us down. It has new parts including fuel pump, transmission mount, brake pads. Always has its oil and fluids changed on schedule. Body is in very good condition, with minor surface rust. No major rot except a small patch under the back left fender and the roof also has some clear coat pealing. Floors are solid. Interior is original and well kept. Some small cosmetic issues. Seats are in great shape. Original seat covers, alloy wheels, full spare tire, tools, and vanity mirror. Timing belt was replaced in 2010, and the steering column was repaired a year ago. Speedometer stopped working shortly after and so did the odometer, fuel gauge and instrument console light. Rear, right passenger door handle is broken. Windshield was replaced 3 weeks ago and original trim was not put back on, although it comes with the car. The odometer reads 223k. Has newer 240 turbo exhaust and ipd sway bars. Tires have good tread. All exterior lights, signals, etc work. Starts, runs, drives and stops great. Passed MA inspection a month ago and has valid sticker until 2015. Clean MA title. We're selling it because we bought a camper and are towing it back to Oregon with a van. We really want this car to go to a good home and to someone who loves Volvos like we do. It was recently used as the main car in the film Infinitely Polar Bear with Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana that will be out this spring. Cool, right? NBD.

Volvo wants this car to be the Crown Vic of global police fleets

It has been years since the last Ford Crown Victoria rolled off the assembly line, but these body-on-frame sedans are still the most recognizable police cars in the US. Volvo is making a strong push in hopes that its XC70 can attain the same level of success as a global police car. As it is, Volvo is a popular choice for police cars in its home country of Sweden, but its cars are also used in police fleets in the UK, Belgium and Switzerland.
With an upgraded chassis, Volvo is looking to attract agencies from around the globe, including the rest of Europe, Asia and even the Americas. Changes over a stock 2014 XC70 include a beefier suspension setup, and the automaker has also tested the police-spec version of the jacked-up wagon in just about all conditions it could encounter in Europe - from the high speeds of the German autobahn to the low traction of Sweden's snowy, winter roads. We doubt we'll see many, if any, of these Volvos policing the streets of the US, but if we do, we're sure it will be in New England, Colorado or North Carolina.

Volvo to shake off Ford ties with new platforms, engines

It would seem Volvo is finally getting around to throwing all of Ford's things out of the apartment. Automotive News reports the Swedish automaker is preparing to unleash a range of new engines as well as a fresh platform designed entirely in house. The powerplants include an all-new four-cylinder engine set to bow before the end of this year before arriving in the US by 2014. Shortly thereafter, the world should get its first glimpse at the next-generation XC60, which will the company's first model to make use of the Volvo scalable platform architecture (SPA). US buyers can expect to see that machine on their roads by early 2015.
The next V70 and S80 will also use the SPA, though those models will carry V90 and S90 designations when they hit dealer floors. But that doesn't mean Volvo has completely weened itself off of Ford technology. The V40 will continue to ride on Ford bones until the model's next chassis can be co-developed between Volvo and Geely.
