Absolutely rock solid restomod of a 1992 Volvo 240 - 1992 244 - Turbo Sonic Blue on EVERYTHING (car was almost completely disassembled) - extremely good with 5 coats of base and 4 coats of clear Engine 1990 B230FT - pulls very hard and starts every single time Trans M47 5SPD - no grinding, misses or weak gears Gold BBS Propus wheels and almost new tires with plenty of tread Dash is ALMOST PERFECT with a tiny 1/2 inch crack (see pictures - the best I've personally seen) A/C 134A - updated compressor (blows ice cold down here in Houston humidity, so I'm sure it'll be fine where ever you're at) Single-din Pioneer radio - good speakers in each door, two 6x9's in rear deck and custom subwoofer/amp setup in trunk Body 215K - all panels aligned, no major dents/ZERO RUST, a couple of small dings that can't be captured well with camera Volvo R/Brembo front calipers/rotors - stops on an absolute dime Stainless brake lines front and rear Dynamat throughout entire vehicle - trunk, doors and floors WELDED holes for lower moulding and antenna Filled bumpers IPD sways 28mm front 25mm rears Lowered on Lesfojor springs and Bilstein shocks SAM strut brace - very rare DJ Auto ECodes with Hi/Lo HID's Various new random parts - every single window, lock and function work on the car Tons of other little things you can inspect in the pictures (like the frenched-in LEDs along the front spoiler for a Euro-look) and ton of other things a Volvo enthusiast will notice. There is not ONE thing left to do to this car. Link to a gallery with more pics and a video of startup/audio system below - I also just recently installed a brand new 16" Permacool e-fan (high performance version, Part #19115) with the correct accessory switch and relay kit (Part #19005). Could I have gone with a used 850 fan and butchered it in there with Nissan relays? Sure. But everything done to this car was first class and there was no reason to stop at the cooling system, not to mention I live in Houston and love an A/C system so this isn't the place to screw with cooling needs heading into summer. Also installed brand new amp (you can see from the pictures there is a gap in the custom custom trunk floor as the older amp was bigger). The older amp just needs to be regrounded inside but I got a good deal on a brand new one so I jumped on it. The car will come with older amp if you'd like to reground and install for a flush trunk floor. Or just make a new one! The pictures are very indicative of what you will be getting and the car is back and tucked away after a good detail. There is a picture of any noticeable ding or damage already taken. The paint job is 2 years old but has sat in a garage, under car cover and driven sparingly. Car cover will also come with vehicle. Never had been a daily driver (way too nice in my opinion) but easily could mechanically/electrically. Has never made the round at your typical Volvo shows...always bad timing. Volvo unveils all-new user interface destined for next-gen XC90 [w/video]
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Take a close look at the cabin of the Volvo Concept Estate shown above. One of the big features on the fancy, brown shooting brake is an all-new user interface called, well, it doesn't really have a name, at least not one Volvo is revealing.
The refreshingly nameless system looks seriously impressive based on the short video that accompany's the system's press release. The jewel of the whole interface is a sizable touchscreen that manages most every in-car function save for a few vital functions like volume, hazard lights and other systems that still demand a more tactile interface.
"The basic idea is to organize controls and information in a perfectly intuitive and user- friendly way. Everything is exactly where you expect it to be, making the drive more enjoyable, efficient, and safe," Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo's Senior Vice President of Design, said in a statement.
Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.
Volvo Concept Estate is a brown shooting brake, need we say more?
Wed, 26 Feb 2014Set for a debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next week, images of the Volvo Concept Estate have found their way onto the web courtesy of Jalopnik. If the Concept Coupe from Frankfurt were a modern P1800, the Concept Estate is a modern P1800ES.
We briefly detailed the finale to Volvo's trio of concept cars earlier this week, when images of it poked out finished in a custom car cover. Now, with a batch of uncovered images at hand, we're able to see just how pretty this brown beauty really is.
Below the beltline, this is pretty much the Concept Coupe, featuring the same T-shaped headlights and wide, rectangular grille. Above the beltline, though, things get fun. The long, glass roof terminates in a squat, wide rear end which is set off by a pair of meaty haunches. The taillights, meanwhile, expand on the style shown on Volvo's Detroit concept, the Concept XC Coupe. And that hatch opens up into a rather cavernous rear end.
