Drives 600 miles on a tank. Truck is located in Burley Idaho where I now live. NO RESERVE. SOMEONE'S GOING TO WIN.
Just place a bid right now to test the waters. Nothing big, just the next bid increment. Prices sky rocket the last minute anyway.

This is a well taken care of 1980 Diesel Rabbit truck that gets 45 MPG! I bought it from an old man in Las Vegas about 3 years ago. Comes with a hard to find camper shell, and a in bed tool box that can bolt in just behind the back glass. I drove it daily for about 10,000 miles.
THE BAD
If your taller than 5'10" you will not be comfortable in the truck. Don't even bid.
There is some rust on the rain gutters, (pictured)
Little surface rust on the B pillar where the two metal seams come together. (pictured)
The heater fan switch just broke this week.
Original dashboard, (30 years old) its cracked.
THE GOOD
This truck gets a 7 out of 10 as far as paint and body. No big dents, but paint is tired, rock chips in the hood. Interior is also a 8 out of 10. Seats have been re-done, no holes stains or cracks on seats.
Got NEW front shocks/struts on 4/19.
New wheel bearings,
New Starter,
New battery,
New glow plugs,
New fuel tank,
New injectors (4).
New Oil, Air, and Fuel Filters
Rust free strut towers.
New upholstery on the seats.
Comes with some tools, repair manual, compression tester, and a hug.
I added an engine block heater, and on cold Idaho nights I plug her in and she starts right up in the morning.
Good compression on all 4 cylinders. NOT ORIGINAL MOTOR. This motor has about 40,000 miles on it.
Runs like a sewing machine. She came from the factory with a 4 speed trany but the previous owner swapped in the better 5 speed for higher fuel economy and better HWY driving.
The pictures you see were taken while I was on the Road trip to Bozeman MT last month.

She would be perfect to convert over to a Grease Car to burn Vegi-oil, Biodiesel, or even ATF. Greasecar has many conversion kits available. When fuel prices sky rocket this truck will be nice to have. Buy it now before fuel prices go up. This rig is also the perfect car to have in case of an EMP or if North Korea starts a Nuke attack. At least you'll still be able to drive to work. LOL
Call or text me and leave a message for Kevin
(to oh ate) three won too - 8062
For $3,800 I will bring you the truck. Montana, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada,  Northern Cali, Southern Washington, and Western Wyoming and Western Colorado. I will buy another busted Geo Metro near you to drive home. LOL
I reserve the right to end the listing early. I've got it listed locally and if someone puts enough cash in my hand, I will cut the auction.
This auction will end on Sunday May 19th official ebay time of 21:00 PDT. Mark Your Calender. In the upper right hand corner click on "Add to watch list" so you can find it in "My ebay"

Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover

Sat, Jan 18 2014

It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. Don't buy that crossover! Buy a cladded wagon instead!

Fri, Nov 10 2017

If you're looking to buy a car soon, and you're like most Americans, there's a strong chance you're considering buying a crossover SUV. That's what people want nowadays. People like the tough, tall exterior that suggests adventure and preparedness, they like the high seating position, they like the all wheel drive many have and they like the practicality. Because of this, crossovers have rapidly supplanted typical cars such as sedans, wagons, and more as the most popular vehicles in the country. But they're compromised, too. They're often heavy, thirsty, and expensive compared with more conventional cars. The good news is, there's an alternative, a happy medium between the straight crossover and the traditional car. They're lifted wagons, and they're the best crossover SUVs around. And for those who may not know what we're talking about, we're talking about cars and wagons that have been given a suspension lift for more ground clearance and a higher ride height, and often have all wheel drive standard or optional. They also usually have chunky plastic body cladding to make them look tough and durable. Examples include the Subaru Crosstrek, Audi A4 Allroad, Buick Regal TourX, and Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, among others. Because of the suspension and body modifications, these vehicles fit the trendy crossover mold quite well. And in the case of long-running nameplates such as the Subaru Outback and Volvo Cross Country models, they even have some heritage as outdoorsy machines. They also provide the higher driving position that crossover buyers love. And in some cases, such as with the Golf Alltrack, we've learned they offer better ride quality than their road-oriented siblings. View 9 Photos So these tall wagons offer the key things crossover buyers want, but what makes them better than traditional crossovers is that they have the advantages of the cars they're based on. For instance, the aforementioned Golf Alltrack still drives mostly like a Golf, which is to say, it's nimble, feels peppy, and is easy to maneuver because of its relatively small size. We can't really say the same for the Tiguan, which feels generally more sluggish and uninteresting than the Alltrack. And we mention Volkswagen's compact crossover because it starts at nearly the same price as the Alltrack. Some of the difference in giddy-up can be explained by weight. Normal crossovers can be fairly portly, while these lifted wagons are notably lighter.

MotorWeek looks back at the 1986.5 VW Scirocco 16V

Wed, Jan 21 2015

It's back to the past with MotorWeek for a video dive into the 1986.5 Volkswagen Scirocco 16V, the coupe that carried the pennant for VW's performance aspirations for 15 years, from 1974 to 1989. This one, the last generation, got the hottest of all by adding a head with four valves per cylinder. The 1.8-liter DOHC engine cranked out "an amazing" 123 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque, and made this model the fastest VW to ever be sold in America; it went from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds, faster than a Porsche 944. To compare vintage apples to modern ones, the New Scirocco with a 123-hp 1.4-liter TSI engine and a manual transmission takes 9.3 seconds. We like MotorWeek's Retro Review series not only for the cars, but for how they also remind us of what we used to find important in cars. The Scirocco here gets upvoted for its throttle response and handling, downvoted for an oddly placed oil pressure gauge and lack of battery voltage meter. We can't remember the last time a voltage meter was mentioned in a review, either its presence or lack. Check out the video above for what the definition of "US hot hatch" used to be.
