Very clean and well cared for 1982 Caddy.  Engine is 1.9l conversion from Eurospec Sport with 5000 miles on it.  Intake and exhaust manifold are from Europe and made for the 1.9l NA engine.  Starts first crank every time and easily maintains 80mph even up moderate hills.  Diesel injectors and pump still 1.6 but work fine.  In addition, truck comes with very rare factory Power Steering and AC both working.  Transmission is 5-speed manual with no issues.  Clutch, brake calipers, shoes/pads, shocks, wheel bearings and rotors all replaced same time as engine.

Interior is all original with an added CD player under glovebox.  Rear window is hard to find 3 piece.  Sliding glass broke and currently replaced with plexiglass but original hardware still on hand.  Only defects in interior are two tears in driver seat.  Power locks installed in 2008.

Front end is off 1991 Cabriolet.  Truck was involved in minor accident in 2008, new paint and front body panels at that time.  Paint is not to my high standards but not the worst.  Originally came back to me with bumper from '91 Cabriolet as well but no paint behind bumper.  Hated the bumper and replaced but paint still not fixed.  Rear bumper was just removed as I was going to make custom bumpers and repair minor dent from when rear ended in 2002(so minor, damage not even noticed till 3yrs later).  Small spot of rust under rear window passenger side.

I am second owner of this truck and have had it since 2001.  It has been the most dependable vehicle I've ever had.  Paint in the bed is still original and has had a mat in it since the day it came off the lot as far as I can tell.  I put the first ever scratch in it around 2002.  In 2011 head gasket needed replaced and I elected to take the opportunity to install a new 1.9L to give it some extra power.  Due to military deployments and moves the install was not completed until late 2012.  I have since been fine tuning and working to get the full potential out of engine.  Recently I received larger intake and exhaust manifolds from Germany designed for this engine and installed a new MagnaFlo exhaust.  Truck easily reaches 80mph and I hold in the fast lane any time I need.  With the exception of when it was down for engine swap this has been my daily driver for 12yrs.  I really hate to sell her but I have found a new project and the wife says something has to go.  I have lots of extra parts and accessories that come with the truck.  Only thing that doesn't go, is the original window sticker(I'm framing that baby).

VW takes world sales crown from Toyota for first half of 2015

Tue, Jul 28 2015

Despite uncertainty in major markets like Russia and China, Volkswagen is wearing the global sales crown for the first half of the year to overtake Toyota. Through the first six months of 2015, VW sold 5.04 million vehicles, which only narrowly beat its Japanese rival's 5.02 million, Reuters reports. The half-year trophy also placed the German brand one step closer to the goal of being the world's largest automaker. VW can't just cruise through the second half of 2015 to continue wearing the crown, though. The company is a major player in China, and that might start to be a disadvantage soon. Auto demand there is expected to be weak for the rest of the year, which could mean dire effects for companies around the world. According to Reuters, the Western European market shows few signs of a sudden surge, either. To turn things around, VW is working on a massive realignment to be more responsive by organizing its 12 brands under four separate holding companies. One factor in VW's favor is that Toyota is facing its own sales struggles across the globe. In the last fiscal year, the Japanese automaker had growing profits but actual volume was down. At the time, the company predicted a drop to 8.9 million vehicles for the current fiscal period. According to Reuters, Toyota has had problems growing in emerging markets and dealing with higher taxes on small vehicles in Japan. For all of 2014, Toyota held the sales trophy with 10.23 million sales, and VW was in second place with 10.14 million. General Motors came in third with 9.92 million. The year was the first time that VW or Toyota had ever surpassed 10 million vehicles over the stretch of a calendar. Related Video:

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
