I have a 1981 Volkswagen rabbit pickup 1.6L diesel, 40 mpg, 5 speed for sale. This truck is in very good shape, and runs great, and starts very easy. I have put a new motor, new injection pump, new injectors, new clutch, and many other new parts. To many to list all motor and suspension related. Getting parts for these VW trucks are very easy to get. I have put $5000 worth of new parts in this truck in the last 18 months and I have all the receipts to prove it. Most of the parts came from partsplaceinc.com. The truck itself has 212,000 miles on it and the new motor only has 11,000 on it. The paint is in good shape but there are a few chips and minor rust. I also have a few spare parts that will go with the truck as well as a spare set of GTI rims. The gas gauge did stop working since I have owned it but since I have put so much money in this truck already I just decided to sell it that way and not get it fixed. These trucks are rare and one in this good of shape is even rarer. This is a great truck! If you are from out of state and want to fly into the nearest airport (St. Louis) then I will be happy to pick you up and take you to the truck. It runs great and will have no problem making a long trip. Feel free to call if you have questions 217-741-3213

Will VW's rumored 186-mile EV battery be enough?

Wed, Jul 1 2015

Just as there continues to be a horsepower war in the realm of performance cars, there's an ongoing battle over driving range among electric vehicles. Both the Tesla Model 3 and Chevrolet Bolt are promising around 200 miles for a relatively affordable price in or around 2017. Plus, Nissan is reportedly nearing a 250-mile Leaf for about the same time and Ford might be joining the game, too. Volkswagen might be the latest potential challenger with some extra distance possible from its future EVs. According to Hybrid Cars, Volkswagen Chairman Martin Winterkorn tells Bild in Germany that the company is developing a new generation of battery tech with major gains, and it could reportedly provide a range of around 186 miles. That's more than double the current 83-mile EPA certified range for the e-Golf but falls short of the projections from competitors. Winterkorn didn't indicate exactly when this innovation would be ready for production, though. Especially in recent months, the German automaker is making serious moves towards big advancements in battery tech, and the company's platforms are largely already prepped to become EVs. The entire VW Group is reportedly considering moving to a single, unified lithium-ion cell design, and that switch could cut component costs by as much as 66 percent. In late 2014, the German automotive giant also bought five percent of the US-based startup QuantumScape. That business has claimed a staggering 430-mile range from its fireproof, solid-state lithium batteries, but the proof will need to be seen on the road – and in whatever the competition is able to accomplish whenever a car is finally available.

Top Gear drag races VW Golf R against McLaren 675LT and Porsche 911

Thu, Apr 7 2016

Top Gear's latest quarter-mile drag race in the collects three very different performance vehicles: the 296-horsepower Volkswagen Golf R, 424-hp Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, and 666-hp McLaren 675LT. While each of these cars sit near the top of their segment, they each come from totally different rungs of the sports car price ladder. Spoiler alert, the Golf R doesn't win. But the final results illustrate the diminishing returns of price and performance. For example, the McLaren is only about a second quicker than the Porsche to 60 miles per hour, but the 675LT costs over 2.5 times more that the GTS. Related Video:

Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union

Sat, 30 Aug 2014

The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
