2004 - Volkswagen R32 on 2040-cars
Baltimore, Maryland, United States
This car is a tank with the raw power and the AWD! It puts a lot of smiles on peoples' faces and sounds amazing but I'm selling it since I moved to the city, so the car is no longer practical for me. I keep an organied folder with receipts from repairs. The VF Engineering supercharger kit was professionally installed by AWE Tuning. Very few (I've heard under 2,000) were made in Reflex Silver w/ cloth 2 tone seats. Anybody who knows VW's knows that the mk4 R32's are the highest quality and nicest looking VW's. As long as I've owned it it's always been hand washed, always used 93+ octane gas, always garaged, always driven below 2.5k rpm before warmed up, always maintained by excellent techs. Clean title. Paint is great and NO rust! I've Never had any problems with the supercharger kit. Video of another R32 w/ the same supercharger kit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_10ciXLbbM The following work has all been done in the last 16 months and I have the receipts : All new brake pads and rotors (OEM) New Tires (approx. 80% TREAD LEFT!) New Coolant Temp Sensor New Shifter Plate New Spark Plugs (2k miles ago) New Charger Oil Line (1k miles ago) New A/C Compressor (2k miles ago) New Supercharger Belt (2k miles ago) New Camshaft Speed Sensor (1k miles ago) Tranny fluid flush (2k miles ago) Coolant Flush (2k miles ago) Oil change (2k miles ago) Sunroof drains cleaned out (2k miles ago) * Never dyoned, trcked, etc. but car is rated around 375hp on 93octane Aftermarket: -VF Engineering stage II Supercharger kit (fully polished option) w/ Intercooler (professionally installed by AWE Tuning) -Twin diverter valves option -Flapper Mod (necessary for the high HP) - Audi TT 18" Spare donut tire - pro tint job (it's completely needed since the interior being black gets very hot) -THULE Roof Racks w/ sport visor The Bad: The R32 is officially 10 years old so it's got some flaws: Front bumper lower corner cracked from hitting a curb stop - from previous owner Quarter size dent in driver's side front fender. A few rock chips on hood One of the cooling fans is out but never had problems when the outside temp is below 70 degrees... It only begins overheating if you're in traffic for a long time or running it hard without a rest) Minor Vibration at about 900 rpm sometimes... I've talked to a few techs about the issue and they say it's a vacuum leak (a common occurrence on these supercharger kits) Very difficult to find a high HP, tuned car that was very well cared for. Let me know if you have any questions!

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."
The hottest modern sports cars rendered as rally racers
Thu, Jan 14 2016The modern-day World Rally Championship a monumental amount of fun to watch – I should know, as I recently was lucky enough to head to the UK to watch WRC Wales Rally GB – but even the most monstrous of the current WRC cars are based on fairly pedestrian European hatchbacks. Back in the heyday of rally, the Group B era in the 1980s, much hotter cars were the basis of even more incredible competition machines, for the most part. Take the exotic Ford RS200, or the Lancia Delta S4 with its twin-charged engine. And the hatchback-based Group B cars were bonkers, too. So what would some of our favorite modern cars look like if Group B had never ended? A British site named CarWow hired an artist to reimagine everything from the Rolls-Royce Wraith to the Porsche 911 as a retro-inspired rally car, and they were kind enough to let us share the results in the gallery above. The gallery features an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Martini livery, an Audi TT in classic Ur-Quattro colors, a Fiat 500 Abarth sporting massive flares and a hood blister full of auxiliary lights, a new Ford Mustang in RS200 livery, a Lancia Delta in Alitalia colors, a Porsche 911 in Rothmans livery, a Renault-Alpine in classic blue, a Rolls-Royce Wraith tribute to the Jules cologne Corniche Coupe, and a relatively modern-looking VW Touran. So far, the favorite around the office is the incredible Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is an homage to the wonderful 300 SEL 6.8 AMG "Red Pig" that essentially put AMG on the map. Check out the gallery above and see which one you like the best. Related Video:
Giorgetto Giugiaro launching new design firm
Mon, Sep 21 2015Giorgetto Giugiaro may have sold his remaining shares in the Italdesign firm he started, but he's not about to retire from the business altogether. According to an interview with Automotive News Europe, he's starting a new design consultancy. And he's taking his son, Fabrizio, with him. After working for established design houses Bertone and Ghia, the celebrated designer founded Italdesign Giugiaro in 1968. In 2010 he and his son Fabrizio sold 90.1 percent of the firm to the Volkswagen Group, with Fabrizio initially carrying on as its chief designer before Wolfgang Egger replaced him. Just months ago, the Giugiaros sold their remaining stake and resigned their seats on the board of Italdesign. The move came hot on the heels of the departure of ousted board chairman Ferdinand Piech, a longtime friend of Giorgetto's and the driving force behind VW's acquisition of Italdesign. Just because they're no longer affiliated with Italdesign Giugiaro doesn't mean, however, that the Giugiaros won't be designing cars anymore. They're reportedly working on establishing a new design house, and are discussing potential contracts with unnamed Chinese and South Korean automakers. The father-son pair could set up shop in a refurbished existing location (as the pragmatic Fabrizio favors) or build a new studio from the ground up (as the visionary father prefers). We'll have to hold on to see what direction the new firm takes, but most of all, we'll be looking forward to seeing what designs it produces.
