Vehicle Description
2004 VW Phaeton W12
Rare Car / 420 H.P. V-12
Sport Pkg. / Navigation / Parking Sensors

Mike's Place is proud to offer this 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton W-12 Sedan. The MSRP on this vehicle was $88,505. Here is your chance to own this car for a lot less. The vehicle history report shows the mileage as accurate. The title is 100% clean. Reason to buy a Southern California car.............No Rust! Many vehicles from other states experience a rather hard life dealing with harsh weather conditions. Rain, snow, hail, salt roads and cold weather cause all kinds of issues both mechanically and cosmetically. So a California car may appeal to you.

All-wheel drive, and a five-speed automatic transmission with "Tiptronic'' manual shift mode, this VW reaches 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. It's smoothness all the way, like a rocket launch, not an afterburner kick. Put the car in reverse and an ultrasonic parking assist system lets you know if objects are close. Pull onto an interstate and set cruise control. Look at the 200-mph speedometer, don't be fooled into thinking it's not quick. 420 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 406 foot pound torque at 3250 rpm.

The VW has everything a busy business person needs when hitting the road: a phone that actually works, a decent navigation system, a stereo system that sounds better than most home entertainment systems, heated and ventilated multiadjustable seats, and what VW says is the world's first and only draft-free air-conditioning.

Excellent soundproofing and details like triple door seals and double-pane windows with an anti-infrared coating help keep the interior as quiet as expected in a premium luxury car, even at high speeds. The W12 model features adjustable air springs and electronic damping control at all for corners of its independent suspension for the smooth, supple, and very well-controlled ride expected of a sedan in its class.

The interior is in really nice condition. The leather seats look very good. Both power seats function properly. The dash is in great condition. All the gauges seem to function properly and the digital display looks great. I tried all the buttons located on the dash and door panels and everything seemed to function properly. The air conditioning blows cold and the heater works. The door panels are all in great shape and all the power windows work properly. The radio works and the speakers sound great.

The exterior of the car is Black. The body is straight and dent free. This is a rust free California car. Please check out the pictures to see condition of rims and tires. 255/40R19 tires on 19"X8.5" MMR HR2 rims. All the glass is in good shape with no visible cracks. This car drives sweet! The engine runs strong with no smoke or funny noises and the transmission shifts nicely. This would make a great daily driver. Please look at all the pictures and keep in mind that this is not a brand new car, normal wear is to be expected.

What this car needs:  There is a check engine light on (even though the engine runs smooth), the trunk only opens with the key, not remotely. Dash shows the trunk is open, even though it's closed. Has paint damage top edge right front fender (see pictures), as well as damage to bumper and missing left fog light bezel. Air suspension works great, but car will settle if not driven regularly. Tire pressure sensors need to be reset.

There will be a $55 doc fee and a $135 auction services fee added to the winning bid. There is no exceptions. California residents will also be charged sales tax, registration and smog fees. All out of state buyers will be subject to California sales tax if they pick the vehicle up in person. This is legally required by the State Board of Equalization as well as the Department of Motor Vehicles. No sales tax will be charged to out of state buyers that ship vehicle by means of a licensed transporter. We require a $250 deposit within 24 hours via paypal, bankwire or cash in person. The balance must be paid within 7 days via cashiers check, bankwire or cash in person. Paypal will only be accepted for the deposit. Vehicle and title will only be released once payment clears our bank. If you are local, and need help with financing, please contact us at (714) 319-2173 before bidding. Please do not bid without proper financing. All vehicles sold as-is. An extended warranty is available for this vehicle at extra cost. Contact us for additional information.

The not-Subaru crossover wagon | 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack First Drive

    Fri, Sep 16 2016

Funnily enough, in light of dieselgate, Volkswagen is one of the few brands (along with Volvo and Subaru) to preserve the notion that you don't need a fuel-sucking SUV to meet your life-carrying needs. And, yes, VW's history of addressing off-road desires with all-wheel-drive dates to the mid-1980s with the Quantum Syncro (a.k.a. Passat) and Golf Country – the latter, sadly, never came stateside. The latest offering toward this effort is the 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack. What's an Alltrack? It's a slightly lifted, cladded, and butched-out version of the Golf Sportwagen (yes, formerly known as a Jetta). Not to steal Alltrack's thunder, but starting in 2017 you can also get the standard Sportwagen with 4Motion AWD, which is basically the same running gear for less money. The Alltrack starts at $26,950; the 4Motion Sportwagen starts at $24,930, both with the dual-clutch automatic available at launch. Any discussion of tall wagons brings Subaru immediately to mind, both with the Outback and the Impreza-based Crosstrek. The Volkswagen Alltrack sits between the two in size at 180.2 inches long – 5 more than the Crosstrek and 9.4 inches shorter than the Outback. The 2017 Subaru Outback starts at $25,645, and VW's comparisons focus on the Outback, which is understandable given the similar starting price. A bare-bones Crosstrek starts at $22,245, but quickly gets into Golf price overlap. The Alltrack and the 4Motion Golf Sportwagen are superior daily drivers to the Subaru, whether you're doing an emergency lane change or just trying to merge onto the interstate. Meanwhile, the Crosstrek doesn't have the refinement of the VW. Can we fault Subaru though? It's set a sales record every year in a row since 2010 and is looking at about triple the sales volume of VW's Golf for 2016. So we'll stick to telling you what we think of the Alltrack and let the dealers fight for your dollars. First thing's first. Yes, you can have the Golf Sportwagen and even the Alltrack with a manual six-speed gearbox. The seven-speed DSG automatic is very good, but it's worth noting that any manual gearbox is a rarity these days, especially when we're not talking about a two-seat sports car. You will have to wait until early 2017 for that option, but it also saves you $1,100 off both models. Second, the Alltrack and 4Motion Sportwagens get identical engines. Whether manual or DSG, VW's EA888 turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder is under the hood.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

    Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

VW won't let emissions scandal keep it from racing

    Sat, Nov 28 2015

The Volkswagen Group may have its hands full dealing with the diesel emissions scandal. But that doesn't mean it will be curbing its considerable racing programs. At least not in any significant way. This according to Matthias Muller, who recently moved up from his previous position as Porsche CEO to preside over the entire group. Speaking with Autosport at the World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain this past weekend, Muller emphasized the importance of racing to the company. "The motorsports programs are not in danger of being dropped or significantly reduced because motorsports is very important for the group and the brands," said Muller. "Basically we do not question our motorsport efforts." Of all the brands under the group's umbrella, several have prominent, top-level factory works racing programs, and others support customer racing teams. The Volkswagen brand has emerged as the dominant force in the World Rally Championship, securing both titles over the past three years. Both Porsche and Audi compete in the top tier at Le Mans and in the World Endurance Championship, trading places in the winner's circle. Audi also competes in DTM, and alongside Lamborghini, Bentley, and Porsche, and also offers GT3 and GTE racing cars to private customers. Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, and Seat (once the leader in touring cars) all run their own spec racing series as well. Skoda continues to compete in lower-level rallying, leaving only Bugatti to draw on its prominent pre-war grand prix racing history. To hear Muller tell it, those racing programs – or at least the top-levels ones among them – aren't going away anytime soon. But there may still be some tweaks here and there, and we shouldn't expect any new programs to be launched in the near future. Porsche, for example, is anticipated to wind down its factory involvement in GT racing, after winning both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the WEC GTE Pro class this year in addition to its LMP1 victories. Instead it will focus on preparing new racing versions of the 911 for client racing teams. The auto giant was also reportedly close to branching out into Formula One in partnership with Red Bull. But after negotiations were interrupted by emergence of the diesel emissions scandal, that deal fell apart. It remains unknown which brand might have been represented in the F1 engine-supply program.
