Up for auction is a 1974 VW Karmann Ghia. It is Raveena Green. It has tan interior.  Old and original weathered paint and interior.  I have fun in this every day as my daily driver and get a ton of attention doing so.  I just had the following done:

NEW BRAKES FRONT DISK AND CALIPERS,  REAR DRUM AND SHOES
NEW BRAKE HOSES, NEW WINDSHIELD WIPERS, NEW WINDOW CRANKS
NEW FUEL PUMP, NEW (GERMAN) AIR DUCT HOSES, NEW FUEL LINE, FILTER.
CARB REBUILT, NEW POINTS, OIL CHANGE, NEW OIL SCREEN STRAINER
GAS TANK WAS TAKEN OUT CLEANED AND LINED TO BE GOOD AS NEW
NEW BATTERY AND IGNITION.

This car runs and drives rather well. Stops great with it's all new brakes.  As I said this is my daily driver.  It has a few surface rust spots that you can see in the pictures and a couple small places that are all the way through on passenger rocker panel and behind both wheels.  Let me tell you something AWESOME the floor pans are solid.  They were factory undercoated and they are in perfect shape.  It could use new tires.  The heater works great! This car was originally purchased in Evansville, Indiana and that is where is still is currently with a clean and clear Indiana title. Pay for it, and drive away. It always starts up and has never left me stranded.  Just have to make sure the seat belt is fastened.  That was a safety feature that year. My mechanic liked the way it ran so much he didn't even do a tune up. Just all the other work listed above.

Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.

UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.
