Super Nice 2006 Jetta TDI! This automobile has been very well maintained! Non smoker, air works great, and it has a nice Pioneer stereo system that added bluetooth and iPod connectivity. It is also easy on the wallet at the gas pumps. I consistently get 45 mpg and 600 miles on a tank of fuel. I am the second owner. The first owner was a pharmaceutical rep who put a lot of highway miles on it. I spoke with the dealership who serviced the vehicle and they assured me that he was very meticulous in having the maintenance done on a regular basis. As you can tell from the pictures it has been well kept. First owner always had it garaged and I've always had it under a carport. It is mechanically sound and drives beautifully. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the power train. Recent service includes: Timing belt and water pump at 240000, AC Compressor at 251720, Flywheel at 258719, Camshaft and lifters at 265601, Rear Brakes at 268990. As with any used vehicle there are some minor cosmetic blemishes. There is a small ding on the front bumper, the passenger side door, and the left front quarter panel, see pictures. The front bumper and the hood have road rash from all the highway driving, hardly noticeable from a few feet away. I used touch-up paint on the specs on the hood but they can be seen if you get right up on it. There is a very small chip in the windshield that has been repaired. The black coating has started coming off on the driver side electric window buttons. The Driver side floor mat needs to be replaced. The low tire pressure light stays on, even though tires are at correct pressure. The I is missing from TDI on the rear bumper. That's it! This is one nice ride that is fun to drive. I really hate to part with it but I just purchased a 2010 and I can't keep both. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions and thanks for looking!

Last VW bus ever made arrives at final destination

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

A Brazilian politician tried to save it, unsuccessfully, so the final Last Edition Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi was produced on December 20, 2013 and now resides in a vintage museum at Volkswagen's Commercial Vehicles HQ in Hanover, Germany.
The Volkswagen Microbus was built for 56 years, starting in September 1957. Brazil was the last country still assembling it, but new safety regulations in the country requiring airbags and ABS on all cars spelled the end. When that politician introduced a bill that would pardon only the 'Bus from a death sentence, it couldn't garner the required number of votes for passage. The South American country takes the Kombi production title, though, with 1.5 million of the 3.5 million total made in the home of Copacabana beach and the girl from Ipanema.
The VW Bus is dead. Now perhaps we can turn our attentions to the still-not-totally-settled matter of the Bulli...

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.

VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.
