For sale is a one owner 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI that is very clean. It runs and drives 100%, has a clean Autocheck, is very fuel efficient and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.9L four cylinder turbo diesel purrs along without a miss, has no fluid loss and has plenty of power. No "check engine" or any warning lights. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly with plenty of clutch. The brakes, suspension and steering are in great condition. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy metallic gray. It is very clean with no major dents or dings. One would have to look hard to find any imperfections. No body rust. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. No windshield chips or cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 25% tread (see pic). The exterior is in very good condition and should be considered above average considering the miles. The interior is gray carpet and seats. The seats are Volkswagen leatherette. The front seats are heated. There are no wear areas, stains, holes or problems of any kind on the seats or carpet. They look new. There is a factory sound system with CD. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. ALL the power options such as sunroof, cruise control, side mirrors, driver seat, windows, etc. work as designed. The interior is above average clean and comfortable. This 2006 Jetta TDI runs and drives like new. There are absolutely no mechanical issues and no indication of any impending problems. We would expect many more miles and years of reliable service. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. We also have the original owner's manual and window sticker showing a price of $23,855 when new in 2006 (see pic). This quality one owner vehicle is being sold by a Maryland Used Car Dealer. Volkswagen Golf R Evo may debut at Beijing Motor Show
Thu, 23 Jan 2014If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. The Evo in its name will come from having a carbon fiber roof and CF in the bodywork, lighter wheels, thinner bucket seats up front and a roll cage instead of rear seats.
If there's a power increase, it's been described as "a small bump." However, as the report mentions, if the Jenny Craig regimen can drop 100 kilograms (220 pounds) from the the 3,247-pound weight of the European Golf R, then the Golf R Evo will do about the same damage on the scales as the Golf but have at least 50 more horsepower and 44 more pound-feet of torque.
Since we still don't have the current Golf, this isn't something that should keep you awake even if the 'concept' does become a production model. But it is good to know that the Golf R is really going to start pushing its boundaries.

Thu, Aug 13 2015Volkswagen is the latest manufacturer to add vehicles to the growing list of cars, trucks and SUVs certified as Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The non-profit has awarded its highest safety ranking on the 2016 Golf and Jetta families. Earning a TSP+ rating, while increasingly common, is still a challenge for automakers thanks to IIHS' strict testing regime. Vehicles must net "Good" ratings – the highest grade available – in the moderate overlap, front, side, roof, and head-restraint tests, while also scoring an "Acceptable" rating on the notoriously tricky small-overlap test. On top of that, the automated crash-prevention systems need to be rated as either "Advanced" or "Superior." For 2016, the Jetta, Golf, and their performance variants retained 2015's "Good" ratings across the board, while also receiving an "Advanced" crash prevention rating, thanks to the new-for-2016 Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking systems. "This year's Top Safety Pick+ awards demonstrate Volkswagen's longstanding commitment to vehicle safety and the development of innovative technologies," Mark Barnes, VP of Sales for VW of America, said in the attached statement. Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch
Sun, 20 Apr 2014This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.
