Don't let the miles fool you. This one owner 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is just getting started. It runs and drives with no issues, is very fuel efficient yet powerful and is being sold with no reserve.

The 1.9L four cylinder turbo diesel engine purrs along without a miss, smoke or fluid loss. No "check engine" or any other warning lights. The six speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation. The brakes, suspension and steering all seem good. No exhaust leaks.

The exterior is a glossy pewter. It is very clean for the miles but there are three dings. The driver side mirror, although it works, is cracked, there is a ding on the trunk by the Jetta plack and the front spoiler is cracked from hitting a parking bumper (see pics). The rest of the body is very clean. No body rust. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 50% tread (see pic). The windshield has no cracks but there are three small chips. The lights and lenses are bright and clear with no cracks.

The interior is very clean. There are no stains, holes or rips on the carpet or seats. The arm rests and cup holders all work. No broken parts. All the power options such as sunroof, cruise control, heated front seats, windows, locks, etc. work as designed. There is a factory sound system with CD. The heat is hot and the AC is cold.

This is a very nice Jetta diesel. It is fuel efficient and drives great. There are no mechanical issues and no indication of any impending problems. The new owner will be able to drive it home, with confidence and comfort, no matter where they live.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

Remember the car that the rich, very attractive girl in your high school got on her 16th birthday? Was it a Volkswagen Cabriolet? But time marches on, and the boxy convertibles have attained a certain quirky coolness in the modern day. MotorWeek weighs in with a look at the 1989 model in the latest entry in its Retro Review series. MotorWeek actually comes away rather impressed with the Cabriolet, especially its handling. The show doesn't even complain about the big roll bar over the center of the car that has always looked more like a basket handle than a safety aid. Host John Davis must have enjoyed driving the droptop VW, too – despite his very '80s windbreaker and polo shirt ensemble, he was sporting quite the tan in this clip. The small, inexpensive convertible segment has largely disappeared today, but as MotorWeek shows by comparing the Cabriolet to the Chrysler LeBaron and Chevrolet Cavalier, it wasn't always this way. France may still ban diesel vehicle sales

Legislators in France are not afraid to bring out the ban hammer when it comes to dirty vehicles. The city of Paris has implemented bans on old clunkers, and the French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, said in 2014 that diesel cars were a "mistake" and that the government would "progressively undo" the error. Now the national government has said it will not rule out banning sales of new diesel vehicles by Renault and Volkswagen if those companies don't answer more questions about their vehicles' emissions. Environment Minister Segolene Royal said last week that France wants more information about the VW diesel defeat device and Renault's engine software. "We will be asking the consumer fraud investigators and prosecutors to communicate any findings that will enable us to establish whether it's necessary to withdraw sales authorizations," Royal said. Royal has been making waves recently at the COP22 meeting in Marrakesh, Morocco and said that Donald Trump's environmental policies will be " absolutely catastrophic" and weaken the US' standing in the world. If the US doesn't want to lead on climate change efforts, she said, "China can take the place of the United States." She has also been involved in a controversy at home over votes that her staff made to allow higher emissions level from vehicles.
