2011 Volkswagen Jetta SE 2.5L Convenience

This car is great! However due to unexpected life events, I can no longer afford it. So I'm selling her to you!! I have ALL the papers, all the history reports, all the warranty info.

Okay. Ready for all the information you need? Because there's a lot...

Features:
  • Sunroof
  • Heated Seats
  • Bluetooth & AUX input
  • Sirius Satellite Radio
  • Leatherette seats (Great because they don't get scolding hot in the summer)
  • Heat/Air Conditioning
  • Side and Passenger airbags
  • Child seat anchors
  • Velcro blocks for organizing things in the trunk (Groceries, etc)
  • All weather mats (2 sets)
  • 2 keyfobs - switchblade key
  • Two 12V plugs (I have two USB adapters that I will keep in the car if you'd like)
  • Built in 30-Pin for older iPhones (hence the 12V adapters)
  • Tiptronic gear shift & Sport Mode

This Jetta is covered by VW's Extended Warranty!
(If you would like to know all that it covers, we would of course discuss that. It's a lot)

History:
  • Was originally registered in Gurnee, IL
  • I purchased it at the VW Autobarn in Eavanston
  • Has had the driver door replaced by me because of a small "hit & run." The hood was replaced by the previous owner for hail damage. Again these repairs have all been done by VW certified shops.
  • I purchased the car with 18,000 Miles
  • Clean history report (no flood or structure damage)
  • The car has recently been detailed
  • Up to date with all service inspections: Precautionary tire alignment [potholes], oil change, standard checkup, She's healthy!
  • Has NEVER had a smoker or animal in the car. It's completely smell and allergen free.

Price & Potential Shipment:
  • At Least $12,500 for the car + warranty + trunk blocks + two sets of weather mats + two remote key fobs, and a complimentary ice scraper mitten. You'll need that if you live in the Midwest.
  • I'm willing to negotiate price some. I understand buying a car is expensive and that's one of the reasons private selling is easier, but please be reasonable.
  • I'm happy to ship the car, but that would be something you'd pay for. If you're local (In Illinois), we can arrange to meet somewhere or maybe I can even drop it off. I'm a flexible person.
  • ALL PAYMENT WILL BE DONE THROUGH EBAY. NO EXCEPTIONS. That's merely to protect both of us.
  • Currently I am financing through Wells Fargo and they're great. If you're in IL, we can meet at a Wells location and they can move the title over to you easily and I pay them the leftovers. That process would take less than an hour.

Other Details:
  • I'm in Chicago, IL (Lakeview/Lincoln Park area). Please feel free to come take test drive if you're a serious inquirer. I'll show you all the ins and outs, how to work the Tiptronic gear shift if you're unfamiliar, and how to take advantage of all this vehicle has to offer.
  • All the manuals and books come in a nice leather portfolio. Those are in the glovebox
  • What is Tiptronic? It is a way to manually control the gear of the car while still having all the perks of an Automatic transmission. It downshifts by itself and you don't need to park the car to flip it over. Most simply said, it's a boatload of fun!
Love it? Going to buy it? Great! I'll have her cleaned and will pay for one last check up at VW.

The not-Subaru crossover wagon | 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack First Drive

Fri, Sep 16 2016

Funnily enough, in light of dieselgate, Volkswagen is one of the few brands (along with Volvo and Subaru) to preserve the notion that you don't need a fuel-sucking SUV to meet your life-carrying needs. And, yes, VW's history of addressing off-road desires with all-wheel-drive dates to the mid-1980s with the Quantum Syncro (a.k.a. Passat) and Golf Country – the latter, sadly, never came stateside. The latest offering toward this effort is the 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack. What's an Alltrack? It's a slightly lifted, cladded, and butched-out version of the Golf Sportwagen (yes, formerly known as a Jetta). Not to steal Alltrack's thunder, but starting in 2017 you can also get the standard Sportwagen with 4Motion AWD, which is basically the same running gear for less money. The Alltrack starts at $26,950; the 4Motion Sportwagen starts at $24,930, both with the dual-clutch automatic available at launch. Any discussion of tall wagons brings Subaru immediately to mind, both with the Outback and the Impreza-based Crosstrek. The Volkswagen Alltrack sits between the two in size at 180.2 inches long – 5 more than the Crosstrek and 9.4 inches shorter than the Outback. The 2017 Subaru Outback starts at $25,645, and VW's comparisons focus on the Outback, which is understandable given the similar starting price. A bare-bones Crosstrek starts at $22,245, but quickly gets into Golf price overlap. The Alltrack and the 4Motion Golf Sportwagen are superior daily drivers to the Subaru, whether you're doing an emergency lane change or just trying to merge onto the interstate. Meanwhile, the Crosstrek doesn't have the refinement of the VW. Can we fault Subaru though? It's set a sales record every year in a row since 2010 and is looking at about triple the sales volume of VW's Golf for 2016. So we'll stick to telling you what we think of the Alltrack and let the dealers fight for your dollars. First thing's first. Yes, you can have the Golf Sportwagen and even the Alltrack with a manual six-speed gearbox. The seven-speed DSG automatic is very good, but it's worth noting that any manual gearbox is a rarity these days, especially when we're not talking about a two-seat sports car. You will have to wait until early 2017 for that option, but it also saves you $1,100 off both models. Second, the Alltrack and 4Motion Sportwagens get identical engines. Whether manual or DSG, VW's EA888 turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder is under the hood.

Don't buy that crossover! Buy a cladded wagon instead!

Fri, Nov 10 2017

If you're looking to buy a car soon, and you're like most Americans, there's a strong chance you're considering buying a crossover SUV. That's what people want nowadays. People like the tough, tall exterior that suggests adventure and preparedness, they like the high seating position, they like the all wheel drive many have and they like the practicality. Because of this, crossovers have rapidly supplanted typical cars such as sedans, wagons, and more as the most popular vehicles in the country. But they're compromised, too. They're often heavy, thirsty, and expensive compared with more conventional cars. The good news is, there's an alternative, a happy medium between the straight crossover and the traditional car. They're lifted wagons, and they're the best crossover SUVs around. And for those who may not know what we're talking about, we're talking about cars and wagons that have been given a suspension lift for more ground clearance and a higher ride height, and often have all wheel drive standard or optional. They also usually have chunky plastic body cladding to make them look tough and durable. Examples include the Subaru Crosstrek, Audi A4 Allroad, Buick Regal TourX, and Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, among others. Because of the suspension and body modifications, these vehicles fit the trendy crossover mold quite well. And in the case of long-running nameplates such as the Subaru Outback and Volvo Cross Country models, they even have some heritage as outdoorsy machines. They also provide the higher driving position that crossover buyers love. And in some cases, such as with the Golf Alltrack, we've learned they offer better ride quality than their road-oriented siblings. View 9 Photos So these tall wagons offer the key things crossover buyers want, but what makes them better than traditional crossovers is that they have the advantages of the cars they're based on. For instance, the aforementioned Golf Alltrack still drives mostly like a Golf, which is to say, it's nimble, feels peppy, and is easy to maneuver because of its relatively small size. We can't really say the same for the Tiguan, which feels generally more sluggish and uninteresting than the Alltrack. And we mention Volkswagen's compact crossover because it starts at nearly the same price as the Alltrack. Some of the difference in giddy-up can be explained by weight. Normal crossovers can be fairly portly, while these lifted wagons are notably lighter.

Bentley considering diesel engine for new SUV

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Turns out, in case you didn't know, the rich are just like regular people. They too are concerned about the environment, even when tooling around town in their super-luxurious Bentleys. So the automaker is weighing the idea of offering a diesel engine in its SUV offering, which could help satisfy customers' demands for more fuel-efficient engines.
Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Schreiber told Autoblog in a roundtable interview at the Geneva Auto Show that the automaker is researching whether or not a diesel engine makes sense for the brand. Bentley, owned by the Volkswagen Group, could in theory use a diesel engine from anywhere in the Volkswagen Group family. We at Autoblog have hopes they'll revive the V10 TDI used in the VW Touareg until 2010, but ever-stricter emissions laws would likely make that problematic.
But rich people aren't so much like us that they'll be worried about petty things like pricing. Schreiber admitted the diesel engine could be a $15,000 option, which he said customers would probably find "acceptable." Given that the cheapest Bentley today starts at $177,000, typical customers probably won't be diddling around worrying about an extra 15 grand.
