This GLI is really sharp.  We have really enjoyed this car and to my knowledge it needs absolutely nothing.  Inspection is valid through 12/14 and we replaced the tires only 2 K miles ago so they are virtually brand new.  The car drives amazing, its quick and it gets good gas mileage.  The tires are Continental Pure Contact which are very highly rated all season tires- handle good in dry, rain and snow.  The radio sounds great (has satellite), the interior is like new, and it is fitted with a nice sporty spoiler on the rear which is color matched to the car.  The trunks on these cars are VERY large and can hold a lot of luggage or in our case a large hockey bag.  The only reason we are selling is that we got the hankering for a Jeep so we are sadly selling it.

I am more than happy to show you the car before the auction ends.  Paint is in really good shape- as the pictures show there is a minor scratch here or there but for the age this car is in above average condition.  We wash the car regularly and detail it twice a year.  We are car "lovers" so this is one clean car.  Happy to answer any questions you have about the car so feel free to email.

So lets see, what else can I tell you?  Re the condition- I show the small scratches in pics- the pics tend to exaggerate these because they disappear as you look at the entire car- so just keep that in mind.  Oh yeah- people always ask where Bryn Athyn is...its a suburb about 2 miles from Northeast Philadelphia...easy to get to- about 30 mins to center city Philly (just off Willow Grove exit of the PA turnpike).  No I don't want to trade for anything.  How long have I owned it?  About one year.

Please ask all your questions before the auction- after the auction isn't the time to come and "kick the tires"- the auction winner is expected to follow through.  I am trustworthy guy and you can look at my 100% rating.  I am an individual and NOT some dealer or some dealer like guy.  This is our car, its nice, its clean and if you are looking for a VW GLI I am sure this is the one.

Rimac inks deal to purchase 55% of Bugatti from VW Group

Mon, Jul 5 2021

ZAGREB, Croatia — Croatian electric supercar builder Rimac is taking over the iconic French manufacturer Bugatti in a deal that is reported to be worth millions of euros. Rimac said GermanyÂ’s Volkswagen Group, including the Porsche division — which owns a majority stake in Bugatti — plans to create a new joint venture. The new company will be called Bugatti-Rimac. Rimac Automobili announced Monday that it will be combining forces with Bugatti to “create a new automotive and technological powerhouse.” Rimac has progressed in 10 years from a one-man garage startup to a successful company that produces electric supercars. Mate Rimac, who founded the company in 2009, says the venture is an “exciting moment” and calls the combination of the companies “a perfect match for each other.” Porsche will own 45% of Bugatti-Rimac while Rimac Automobili will hold the remaining 55% stake, according to Croatian media reports. Financial details of the deal were not published. Bugattis will continue to be assembled in eastern France, where the company was established in 1909. The vehicles will use engines developed and made in Croatia. “In an industry evolving at ever-increasing speed, flexibility, innovation and sustainability remain at the very core of RimacÂ’s operations," the company said. “Uniting RimacÂ’s technical expertise and lean operations with BugattiÂ’s 110-year heritage of design and engineering prowess represents a fusion of leading automotive minds." Volkswagen Golf R Evo may debut at Beijing Motor Show

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. The Evo in its name will come from having a carbon fiber roof and CF in the bodywork, lighter wheels, thinner bucket seats up front and a roll cage instead of rear seats.
If there's a power increase, it's been described as "a small bump." However, as the report mentions, if the Jenny Craig regimen can drop 100 kilograms (220 pounds) from the the 3,247-pound weight of the European Golf R, then the Golf R Evo will do about the same damage on the scales as the Golf but have at least 50 more horsepower and 44 more pound-feet of torque.
Since we still don't have the current Golf, this isn't something that should keep you awake even if the 'concept' does become a production model. But it is good to know that the Golf R is really going to start pushing its boundaries.

Volkswagen officially grants access to UAW in Tennessee

Tue, Dec 9 2014

An audit at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN has revealed that at least 45 percent of the facility's workers support unionization, leading the German company to grant access rights to the United Auto Workers. This is a tremendous step in the UAW's long-running and at times contentious pursuit of the workforce at Chattanooga. With this latest move, "local leadership is ready to move forward with additional conversations with the company," the union said in a statement obtained by The Detroit News. "As a starting point, UAW Local 42 will take advantage of the company's offer to establish bi-weekly meetings with Volkswagen Human Resources and the Volkswagen Chattanooga Executive Committee." The News reports that UAW Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel, shown above speaking at the Chattanooga plant last summer, claimed these meetings "will remind Human Resources and the Chattanooga Executive Committee of the mutually agreed-upon commitments that were made by Volkswagen and the UAW last spring in Germany. Among those commitments: Volkswagen will recognize the UAW as the representative of our members. We believe Volkswagen made this commitment in good faith and we believe the company will honor this commitment." It's important to note that despite Casteel's remarks, this is not a collective-bargaining agreement, Harley Shaiken, a labor professor at University of California, Berkeley, told The News. "But it is a step in the direction of recognition, which ultimately could lead to collective bargaining. This is not the end point," Shaiken said. "We don't know what's next. We're in unchartered territory."
