Vehicle Condition

You are looking at a very clean, sharp looking, and excellent running, 2003, Turbo-Diesel Volkswagen Jetta. This Jetta was garaged and maintained in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  The vehicle was well maintained and has only 100,628 miles.  These miles are accurate.  It has a 1.9L, 4 cylinder, engine that has great pick up and a 5 speed manual transmission that shifts in and out of all gear with no problems, the clutch grabs strong, and the suspension is tight and smooth.  The car runs richly, smoothly and quietly, and is in excellent shape.  Save on gas with this well known Turbo-Diesel engine.  I had the car inspected by our mechanic to confirm that there are no leaks or malfunctions and that everything is in fine working order.  There are absolutely no known check engine/service needed lights or malfunctions.

This is a prime example of the sought after 03 ALH engine code “P” TDI wagon. As the TDI aficionados’ know the ALH motor combined with the reliable and trouble free manual 5 speed tranny makes this TDI one of the most fuel stingy and long lasting of all the TDI models.

The interior is exceptionally clean as you can see in the pictures.  The body of the car is in very good condition with almost no dings or scratches other than a few scratches on the rear bumper.  Please see all pictures.  The body shines beautifully and is really nice.  The tires are just about new and stand out with their alloy wheels.

The Jetta is loaded with many amenities to make your ride pleasurable.  In addition to its comfortable velour seating, it has power locks, windows and mirrors, cruise control, Sunroof, dual and side airbags, a premium volkswagen stereo system with AM/FM/Cassette/CD, a clock, rear defroster, Anti-Lock Brakes, A/C – Heat, and much more. The car runs superbly.

There is a new battery installed and the brakes and tires have recently been changed and are almost new.

There are no malfunctions, leaks, or warning lights, everything is in great condition.  You can check my feedback and you'll see that I'm an honest seller, and my buyers are always happy.  We provide clean title and, we guarantee that this car will pass state inspection.

This is a comfortable, safe car that is in excellent condition and will last for a while.  All the car needs is a new owner to enjoy it! There is a moderate reserve and an affordable starting bid, s

VW brands excluded from Wards 10 Best Engines for 2016

Tue, Oct 6 2015

You definitely won't be seeing a powerplant from Volkswagen or Audi on the 2016 Ward's 10 Best Engines list. In a serious rebuke against them, WardsAuto is excluding all VW/Audi powertrains for at least this year after the German automakers' ongoing emissions regulations evasions. There's no guarantee of the companies returning for 2017, either. In a story on its website, WardsAuto executive editor Tom Murphy writes that the ban lasts "until we are convinced the culture of deceit has been purged, fines have been paid and regulators are satisfied." That could be a while, the way things are looking. The exclusion knocks three powertrains out of the running for this year's list. As a winner last year, WardsAuto would usually test VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder again for 2016. Plus, it planned to check out the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the Audi A6 and the plug-in hybrid from the A3 Sportback E-Tron. In the story, Murphy finds VW's actions particularly despicable because of what they could be doing to the popularity of diesel passenger cars in this country. "BMW, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler also sell light-duty diesel engines in the US, but their sales outlook suddenly has grown murky, thanks to VW's shenanigans," he writes. So far, Jaguar Land Rover is remaining confident of US consumers continuing to buy diesel models, though. We'll be able to see the real effects of VW and Audi's ban in a few months because the 2016 Ward's 10 Best Engines will be published December 10. With two major automakers out of the running, their rivals will likely greet this as a better chance to make the grade.

2018 Buick Regal TourX vs. wagon competitors: How it compares on paper

Wed, Jan 31 2018

To the great joy of auto enthusiasts nationwide, wagons are back! Well, at least there's a few more of them. The latest is the 2018 Buick Regal TourX, which we just had our first drive of and found to actually be quite good with pleasant handling, solid power and plenty of space. But, how does the TourX compare to other cladded wagons? Well, let's dive into the specs and fire up the ol' spreadsheet maker for Buick Regal TourX vs Subaru Outback vs Audi A4 Allroad vs VW Alltrack vs Volvo V60 Cross Country. True, some are from mainstream brands and others are from luxury marques, but Buick straddles both realms, so it's appropriate to look at them all. Of course, there's more to these cars than just the numbers, but they're still important, and in the case of this class of crossover-aping wagons, can vary more than you'd expect. So check out the specs in the chart below, which are followed by more analysis and photos of each. Discover and compare other wagons and crossovers with our Car Finder and Compare tools. Engines and Transmissions When comparing powertrains, the Buick is far-and-away the winner as far as torque is concerned, and is in a nearly three-way tie for horsepower. Its 295 pound-feet of torque is 22 lb-ft more twist than the next-most-grunty Audi A4 Allroad. And in regards to power, the Buick's 250-horsepower engine is only down 6 hp to the most-powerful Subaru and its optional naturally aspirated flat-six, and just 2 hp less than the Audi. At the bottom of the pack is the Subaru Outback with the standard naturally aspirated flat-four, which only makes 174 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. That may not seem too bad compared with the VW Golf Alltrack, which only makes 170 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, but the VW is much lighter by between 200 and 300 pounds. Transmission-wise, there's quite a bit of variation in the group. The Regal TourX and the Volvo V60 Cross Country rely on eight-speed automatics, all Outbacks use CVTs, and the Alltrack and Allroad have dual-clutch automated manual transmissions with six and seven gears, respectively. But for people that want to shift for themselves, the only option is the Volkswagen, which offers a traditional six-speed manual transmission on the Golf Alltrack. Cargo and Interior Space One of the main reasons to buy a wagon is for the body style's large cargo capacity. And for the most space for things and stuff, you'll want to check out the Subaru and the Buick.

Volkswagen's 261-mpg hand-built XL1 headed for Geneva

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

After years of rumors, development and testing, the Volkswagen XL1 is finally about to become a reality. The project that began life as a daring 1-Liter concept car in 2002, will finally get its production-ready curtain call at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks.
As soon as it hits the streets, the two-seat XL1 will instantly become the most fuel-efficient and most aerodynamic production car in the world. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system to achieve mind-blowing consumption of just 0.9 liters of diesel fuel consumed every 100 kilometers (and average of roughly 261 miles per gallon). Plus, the XL1 can go up to 50 kilometers on its battery power alone. Coefficient of drag is a miniscule 0.189, thanks to a tiny frontal area and an obviously slippery shape.
XL1 power comes from a two-cylinder diesel motor connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 20 kW electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery. Both combine to give the XL1 performance figures that are, while not stirring, not shabby considering its extreme frugality: 0-62 miles per hour comes up in 12.7 seconds and top speed is nearly 146 mph.
