4 DOOR SEDAN VERY HARD TO FIND ONE OF THESE IN ANY DECENT CONDITION!! ENGINE RUNS FINE CLUTCH SHIFTS WELL, TRANSMISSION IS FINE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES QUITE WELL!! STEERING AND SUSPENSION ARE EXCELLENT. TIRES LOOK GOOD, I WOULD SAY %50 THE BRAKES ARE VERY GOOD. IT WILL NEED SOME SMALL THINGS LIKE A HUB CAP, 2 SMALL DIMPLES ON THE TRUNK LID, FRONT BUMPER MARKER LIGHT (DRIVER SIDE), BATTERY IS WEAK- SEEING THE WINTER IS COMING I WOULD HAVE IT REPLACED! POWER LOCKS WORK GREAT MANUAL WINDOWS- LIKE ALL THE GLs I HAVE SEEN BODY IS ABOVE AVERAGE FROM WHAT YOU SEE LATELY..... BLOWER MOTOR, CLIMATE CONTROLS GOOD. HEAT IS PIPING HOT. A/C SEEMS TO BLOW COLD. CAR RUNS DOWN THE ROAD REALLY WELL, BUT IT SHOWS SYMPTOMS OF A CLOGGED AIR INTAKE OR TURBO BOOST SOLENOID. CHECK ENGINE WAS SCANNED AND IT WAS A WASTEGATE BYPASS REGULATOR (N75) VALVE (P1550 CODE). ALSO HAD A GLOW PLUG MONITORING, GLOW PLUG FAULTY OR INCORRECT GLOW PLUGS INSTALLED (P0380 CODE) NOTE: CAR STARTS UP FINE ON A 35F MORNING WITH A GOOD BATTERY. IT DOES HAVE A LITTLE ROUGH IDLE WHEN "STONE" COLD FOR THE FIRST 30 SECONDS OR SO AS ANY TDI WOULD WITH A GLOW PLUG ISSUE. THE GLOW LIGHT SEEMS TO STAY LIT FOR AN APPROPRIATE TIME WHEN "STONE" COLD. MY BEST GUESS IS IT ALSO NEEDS GLOW PLUGS. IF YOU ARE GOING UP A BIG HILL ON THE HIGHWAY YOU WILL NOTICE IT. IT DOES GET ME 45 MPG EASY THOUGH. AT 50 MPH IT WILL GET 55 MPG BUT YOU WILL PROBABLY GET THE WRONG TYPE OF ATTENTION ON MOST HIGHWAYS..... THE CAR SAT FOR SOME TIME. THE STARTER WAS JUNK, SO THE CAR NOW HAS A BRAND NEW BOSCH STARTER! THE CAR WAS JUST FULLY DETAILED. LAST OWNER WAS AN OLDER LADY. NON SMOKING AND NO PETS ORIGINAL BOOKS AND PAPERWORK IN GLOVE BOX. CAR LEAKS NO FLUIDS, SEEMS LIKE A GOOD TDI AS A RUNNER. I DONT KNOW WHEN THE TIMING BELT WAS LAST CHANGED, SO IF IT WERE ME I WOULD CHANGE IT ANYWAYS. I CAN HAVE A VW SHOP DO THAT FOR YOU AT A VERY FAIR PRICE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. TERMS OF SALE.... CAR IS SOLD AS-IS , WHERE IS, NO WARRANTY AT ALL DEPOSIT DUE IN 24 HOURS, BALANCE IN 7 DAYS AFTER AUCTION $125 WILL BE ADDED TO COVER COSTS OF PAPERWORK, POSSIBLE TRANSPORT TO A REPAIR FACILITY IF YOU WISH TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE BEFORE YOU GET THE CAR ETC..... VW beams in Star Trek stars to promote e-Golf EV
Tue, Oct 7 2014Volkswagen just set its e-mobility commercial phasers on stunning. The German automaker has cast Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame (i.e., actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) in a new advertisement for its growing stable of electric vehicles. Even though it's in German, we think you can get the idea. VW went Hollywood and cast the two veteran actors in a futuristic-themed 45-second ad, which sees Shatner cruise up in the e-Golf (with a toothy Trek-fan kid in tow) while Nimoy rocks the XL1 and the Trek theme blares in the background. Forget for a moment that the kid in the commercial wasn't even born when Shatner started pitching for Priceline, let alone the original Trek series and just enjoy the wholesome good humor of Shatner saying that the electric powertrain is just like the one in a spaceship. If you've got any familiarity with Spock, you should be able to understand his punch line, too. Of course, if you'd rather your German vehicle advertisements were set in the Star Wars universe, we recommend clicking here. VW will bring the e-Golf to the states in November at a price of $35,445, about $6,500 higher than the Nissan Leaf's starting pricetag. You can see the new ad and a number of related behind-the-scenes videos (in English) below. Our Quick Spin of the E-up! are available here. This content is hosted by a third party. New Volkswagen Beetle is on the way
Wed, Apr 1 2015Recent reports have suggested that the future of the Volkswagen Beetle could be in jeopardy, but those rumors have now been squashed. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, member of the board of management responsible for development at Volkswagen, confirmed to Autoblog that not only will the Beetle live on, a new generation will arrive in "the next up to three years." The next Beetle will move to Volkswagen's scalable MQB architecture. These bones currently underpin the Golf in the US, as well as a range of products available in Europe and other markets. That's not really surprising, given the MQB architecture's flexibility. But what's interesting is that, according to Neusser, using the MQB platform opens the door for electrification possibilities in the Beetle. That could mean a hybrid drivetrain, or even a fully electric example like the e-Golf hatchback. The Beetle "will remain an emotional design," Neusser told Autoblog. That said, it will be "developed in a new design language," in keeping with Volkswagen's plans to offer "much more dynamic, much more emotional" designs on its future cars. "We would like to support more emotional potential [for the Beetle]," Neusser said. This can certainly be seen here at the New York Auto Show, where Volkswagen is rolling out four showcars that demonstrate the potential for unique versions of the Bug. Even beyond that, Volkswagen has already confirmed that the Beetle Dune concept will see production, and Neusser hinted that while the New York showcars are still being evaluated, the Denim convertible will likely come to market. So the future is anything but grim for the Beetle. And in fact, there's a whole lot of potential for Volkswagen's iconic two-door. Related Video:
If VW defaults on loans it may sell Bentley or Lamborghini
Mon, Dec 7 2015If something goes catastrophically wrong with Volkswagen Group's recent $21 billion loan, brands like Bentley or Lamborghini could hit the auction block. According to two insiders to Reuters, the beleaguered German automaker agrees with its creditors to sell assets if the company somehow can't pay back the debt in a year. One of these anonymous people claimed the company hasn't yet deliberated over what to sell. However, the sources were willing to speculate that the power engineering portion of Man could be among the first to go. "Volkswagen may also consider divesting luxury car brands Bentley and Lamborghini or motor bike brand Ducati, although these units don't really move the needle," an insider said to Reuters. VW Group negotiated with the banks earlier this week to get the massive loan. The cash is necessary as a buffer in case the automaker doesn't have enough money on hand to repair vehicles or settle upcoming fines. VW would reportedly issue bonds in the spring to begin paying the debt. The company's bills will start racking up quickly in the new year. German authorities mandate a recall there in early 2016, and repair campaigns in the US for the 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engines are inevitable. There are also hundreds of class-action lawsuits to settle. The company needs to resolve its CO2 emissions scandal in Europe, too. In response to these financial threats, VW management created a cost-cutting plan to slash the research and development budget by $1.1 billion next year.
