Lost my parking space so my trusty VW 1998 TDI Jetta must go to a new home.It has the 1.9 Turbo diesel with a manual shift 5 speed. About 30,000 miles ago the motor was overhauled with new rings, bearings and cylinder head camshaft timing components. The motor had snapped the timing belt so I figured since it was apart why not renew it all.At the time a new clutch was also fitted.I have driven her 30,000 miles over 7 years with no issues. The car starts right up in the cold every day.She runs drives and stops just fine.Last week I but new brake pads on her.The tires have about 10,000 miles on them and are in good condition .The only issue I have with the car right now is the driver side windows stopped working since both stopped at the same time I suspect the switch that controls them is bad.Besides that the car is very reliable and gets about 40mpg.I have gotten up to 50 mpg but it seems like work ie... coasting to stop signs never going above 50 mph and shifting at 1475 rpm.It can be done but its just work to me.All the other electrical options on the car work fine. The sunroof opens and does not leak and the A/C blows hard and ice cold.Theres no major rust or suspension issues .The car does not need any immediate service I always changed the oil every 3,000 miles and kept up to date with changing filters and fluids . Im sure you could just jump in and drive cross county in this car no problem.Call me Joe 347-744-7591 to arrange a test drive or for more information. If your local I can drop the car off once it paid or will help arrange shipping if you need it shipped out of state .Be sure to click on the video test drive I took of the car below. photo IMAG3691_zps7aa48dc7.jpg photo IMAG3692_zps8eb9e338.jpg photo IMAG3693_zpsf6ecd087.jpg photo IMAG3693_zpsf6ecd087.jpg photo IMAG3695_zpsfbc94832.jpg photo IMAG3696_zps3c109e91.jpg photo IMAG3697_zps22f9f067.jpg photo IMAG3698_zps4107edd8.jpg photo IMAG3699_zpsedc66fb0.jpg photo IMAG3700_zps536406fe.jpg photo IMAG3701_zps876c1c93.jpg photo IMAG3702_zps87240aa1.jpg photo IMAG3703_zps69a7ef50.jpg< photo IMAG3705_zpsce961f5f.jpg="http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w443/erzcar/98tdi/IMAG3704_zps8e34dc9d.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG3704_zps8e34dc9d.jpg"/> photo IMAG3706_zps1c359855.jpg photo IMAG3707_zps4a80d187.jpg photo IMAG3708_zpsda899ea3.jpg photo IMAG3709_zpsb98adc74.jpg photo IMAG3710_zpsa9200337.jpg photo IMAG3711_zps78ee179d.jpg photo IMAG3712_zpsa09f975d.jpg photo IMAG3713_zpsf8a3832b.jpg photo IMAG3714_zpsd1f357da.jpg photo IMAG3715_zpscafad229.jpg photo IMAG3716_zpsae5ab16a.jpg photo IMAG3717_zps0c87c4b6.jpg photo IMAG3718_zpsd4b8c892.jpg photo IMAG3719_zpsc89c1764.jpg photo IMAG3720_zps57faaf7d.jpg photo IMAG3721_zps73246183.jpg photo IMAG3722_zps74c53c86.jpg photo IMAG3723_zps8b816d24.jpg photo IMAG3724_zps6c0eb8da.jpg photo IMAG3725_zps937fc802.jpg photo IMAG3726_zpsdc251305.jpg photo IMAG3727_zpse858da5d.jpg photo IMAG3728_zps2299b8a9.jpg photo IMAG3729_zps668882eb.jpg photo IMAG3730_zps045897c8.jpg photo IMAG3731_zps317a6a4e.jpg photo IMAG3732_zps080f445e.jpg photo IMAG3733_zps3f4b25fa.jpg photo IMAG3734_zpsa8d020d4.jpg photo IMAG3735_zps4097e0dd.jpg photo IMAG3736_zpsf35aba94.jpg photo IMAG3737_zps0c02759e.jpg

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume will be installed as head of the VW brand

Wed, Jun 3 2020

Volkswagen Chief Executive Herbert Diess is planning to promote Porsche CEO Oliver Blume to take over as the head of the VW brand, according to a report from Auto Motor und Sport. Citing company sources, the German site said Bernhard Maier, who currently sits at the head of VW's Skoda brand, will lead Porsche in Blume's place. A shuffle at VW isn't surprising. The last thing Volkswagen needs as it transitions away from its long-running "clean diesel" TDI fiasco and into a clean electric ID future is negative press surrounding its burgeoning electrified lineup. Unfortunately, the ID.3 launch has been marred by software issues, with Manager magazine citing company engineers saying "the basic architecture was developed too hastily." Because of that underlying issue, various modules "often do not understand each other" and suffer dropouts. The brand-new eighth-generation Golf launch was also troubled and pushed back due to software problems. And more recently, Volkswagen was forced to pull an advertisement after admitting it was racist and insulting. That marketing misstep, according to the report, will lead to the firing of Chief Marketing Officer Jochen Sengpiehl. Related Video:

Winterkorn kept diesel scandal secret, letter claims

Tue, Mar 1 2016

Former Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn allegedly kept quiet for two weeks about emissions defeat devices in the company's models. US officials eventually made the automaker's deception public on September 18th. "In the conversation on 03.09.2015 with the regulator CARB (California Air Resources Board), the defeat device was admitted," an employee told Winterkorn on September 4, according to Reuters citing Germany's Bild am Sonntag. Based on this information, Winterkorn had plenty of time to admit the problem. Evidence like this letter continues to suggest top figures knew about the emissions problem. In addition, a separate Bild am Sonntag report recently claimed that an employee emailed Winterkorn in May 2014 to tell him US regulators could discover the cheating. In the lower echelons of the company, the deception was allegedly an open secret among engineers as early as 2006, and people kept quiet even after workers tried to admit what was happening. This culture of secrecy seems to go even deeper than just the diesel emissions scandal. For example, engineers admitted that they cheated on CO2 tests to meet the company's strict standards. According to Green Car Reports, these problems also affected the US. In 2004, an Audi worker in America allegedly discovered an issue with the exhaust gas temperature sensor in some vehicles, but a German executive said not to admit the problem to US regulators. It's not clear whether any high level employees tried to fix the diesel emissions issue or if they simply kept the problem hidden. The company's internal report, which is due in the latter half of April, might address that concern. So far, the VW Group has said only a small group of people caused the scandal. However, these many allegations to the contrary make that claim difficult to believe. Related Video:

Volkswagen finds CO2 'irregularities' for 800k vehicles

Wed, Nov 4 2015

The latest issue for Volkswagen affects another 800,000 vehicles, and this time its for irregularities in CO2 emissions certifications. VW estimates this issue could cost the company $2.2 billion to fix. The company officially makes no specific mention of which engines are covered, the models they are in, or even where they are located. VW discovered the situation during its ongoing internal investigation, and, according to the automaker, "it was established that the CO2 levels and thus the fuel consumption figures for some models were set too low during the CO2 certification process." Most of the affected vehicles are diesels, and the company is now reaching out to "the responsible type approval agencies" to figure out the next step. While VW isn't officially confirming which models and engines are involved, Automotive News reports that it affects some 2012 and later VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda models with the company's 1.4-, 1.6-, and 2.0-liter diesel engines, as well as the 1.4-liter ACT gasoline engine. The issue mainly affects vehicles sold in Europe. "The Board of Management of Volkswagen AG deeply regrets this situation and wishes to underscore its determination to systematically continue along the present path of clarification and transparency," CEO Matthias Muller said in the announcement. Volkswagen Group of America spokesperson Jeannine Ginivan was able to provide some further clarification to Autoblog. "This is not related to US-certified vehicles," she said. Clarification moving forward: internal investigations at Volkswagen identify irregularities in CO2 levels Matthias Muller: "Relentless and comprehensive clarification is our only alternative." Around 800,000 Group vehicles could be affected Initial estimate puts economic risks at approximately 2 billion euros The Volkswagen Group is moving forward with the clarification of the diesel issue: during the course of internal investigations irregularities were found when determining type approval CO2 levels. Based on present knowledge around 800,000 vehicles from the Volkswagen Group could be affected. An initial estimate puts the economic risks at approximately two billion euros. The Board of Management of Volkswagen AG will immediately start a dialog with the responsible type approval agencies regarding the consequences of these findings. This should lead to a reliable assessment of the legal, and the subsequent economic consequences of this not yet fully explained issue.
