********THIS CAR IS VERY RARE!! ONE OF ONLY 47 MADE!!!!!! THIS IS A VOLKSWAGON JETTA ECO DIESEL VERY RARE VERSION OF CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGY THE VW BROUGHT TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1991-92. THE JETTA GL ECO DIESEL WAS SOLD FOR 2 MODEL YEARS. 1991 AND 1992. BUT IN BOTH CASES IT DID NOT ENJOY A FULL 12 MONTHS STAY ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. THE ECO DIESEL FIRST ARRIVED IN THE SPRING OF 1991, AND A TOTAL OF ABOUT 750 ECODIESELS WERE SOLD IN THE 1991 MODEL YEAR. ALL OF THEM WERE MANUFACTURED IN VW'S HOME FACTORY IN WOLFSBURG, GERMANY, FOLLOWING THE TRADITION OF PREVIOUS DIESEL-POWERED JETTAS WHICH WERE ALSO MADE EXCLUSIVELY IN GERMANY, 1991-MODEL JETTA ECO DIESELS WERE AVAILABLE IN A FULL SPECTRUM OF COLORS, INCLUDING GREEN, BLUE, GRAY WHITE, RED AND BLACK----ALL WITHE GRAY VELOUR SEATS AND BLACK DASHBOARDS. Production Volkswagen Taigun crossover caught in patent filing?
Wed, 01 May 2013Volkswagen brought an angular, bulldog-like small crossover concept called Taigun to the São Paulo motor show last year, claiming that it wanted to gauge interest in the design before making a decision about production. If a new report with alleged leaked patent images is to be believed, then, interest must have been pretty high.
China's Auto.Sohu.com has published this group of Taigun images, claiming that they have been sourced from the Chinese patent office and that the subcompact VW utility based on the Up! has been cleared for production.
If all of that is true, and if these images are representative of the final product, you'll see that designers haven't done much to alter the concept car's appearance. Comparing, shot for shot, with the images we have from Brazil, we see that even small details like roof rack-mounted lights and exhaust tips integrated in the rear fascia have been carried over. Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.
Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
