THIS AUCTION IS FOR MY 1984 JETTA TURBO DIESEL. IT IS COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL. ORIGINAL PAINT AND INTERIOR. NO RUST THAT I SEE ANYWHERE. TRUNK IS PERFECT. ORIGINAL TRUNK MAT AND SPARE TIRE INCLUDED (JUST NOT IN THE PICS). THIS CAR WAS LAST ON ROAD IN 2010. CAR WILL CRANK BUT NEEDS BATTERY AND PROBABLY STARTER. NOT SEIZED UP. INTERIOR IS IN DECENT SHAPE FOR AGE. PAINT IS ROUGH OUTSIDE BUT NO RUST ISSUES. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT CAR TO RESTORE OR PUT A BIT OF WORK INTO AND RIDE IT AS IS. SEEMS TO BE AT LEAST 98% COMPLETE. H HAS ENGINE HEATER INSTALLED. NOT SURE IF IT STILL WORKS OR NOT. CAR OVERALL IS IN GREAT COMPLETE SHAPE. I COULD NOT GET ANY DECENT PICS OF THE UNDERSIDE BUT SEE NO ISSUES OF RUST. CAR SEEMS REALLY SOLID. NO GUARANTEES ON THIS. I HAVE NOT CRANKED IT IN A WHILE. TRIED TODAY BUT BATTERY IS REALLY DEAD. CHARGED IT A BIT AND STARTER SEEMS TO DRAG. MOTOR DOES TURN OVER AND RAN WHEN IT WAS PARKED. ENGINE CONDITION OTHER THAN THAT IS UNKNOWN AND NOT GUARANTEED.
ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK. A 300 DOLLAR NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION END. I AM WILLING TO WAIT UNTIL MIDNIGHT FEBRUARY 28TH 2014 FOR REMAINDER OF BALANCE IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR A TAX REFUND. BLANCE DUE BY MIDNIGHT FEBRUARY 28TH 2014 OR I WILL RELIST AND KEEP DEPOSIT. Winterkorn not under official investigation in Germany
Thu, Oct 1 2015Prosecutors for the state of Lower Saxony in Braunschweig, Germany, are now saying that former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn is no longer specifically under investigation for his role in alleged fraud related to the automaker's diesel emissions scandal. The lawyers are clarifying that there's no formal inquiry into the exec because there's not yet enough evidence to establish a suspicion of wrongdoing, Bloomberg reports. However, they are still looking into VW's actions. Earlier this week, the prosecutors announced they had begun an initial investigation into Winterkorn for alleged fraud in the emissions regulation evasion. At that time, there were reportedly 12 complaints asking the lawyers to look into the case, including one from VW. Under German law, only a person could be charged for the potential crimes, rather than a whole company. "An initial suspicion must be based on facts, and you must begin an investigation before you can establish the facts," Christoph Schalast, a professor at the Frankfurt School of Finance, said to Bloomberg. Meanwhile in the US, the investigation continues into VW. The Department of Justice has the support from at least two senators to pursue criminal and civil charges against the company. The attorneys general in at least 29 states are also looking into things. Meanwhile, lawyers are building a class-action lawsuit, as well. To help in its defense, the automaker is employing the help of the same firm that defended BP during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Related Video:
Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. Icon goes Derelict on a 1967 VW Bus
Fri, Sep 11 2015Jonathan Ward and Icon have an eye for the little details in everything they make, and that's especially true of the company's Derelict projects. This time they are turning their attention to the '67 Volkswagen Bus. The van might look a little tired at first, but Icon gives the VW a complete makeover to keep it on the road for decades to come. Ward's client for this build had owned VW Buses before but wanted to have a truly usable one. Making that harder, she requested that the final result remain true to the essence of these classic vans. To do that, Icon let the exterior remain almost entirely stock, except for a few minor additions like the roof rack, tent, and a 110-volt outlet hidden at the back. The interior was kept looking original too, but the builders installed custom walnut cabinets and a load of modern upgrades, including air conditioning. The air-cooled boxer engine was also dumped in favor of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder sourced from a Jetta. To really understand just how much is changed, let Ward take you on a complete tour of the overhauled, vintage VW in this clip to show off all of his team's impressive work. Related Video:
