I am the first owner of this GTI. I purchased it at Palmetto 57 Volkswagen off of fl826 in Miami, FL. This car has had the oil changed every 5,000 miles, and serviced regularly. The engine has been properly broken in; the performance modifications were not installed until 6,116 miles. The initial 6,000 miles the car spent conservatively commuting 20 miles each way. After 6,116 miles, all performance upgrades were installed.

This car has never given me any problems; I have loved driving it every moment! I’m going to be sad to see it go, but I’m moving to New York City, and cannot have a car.  This car has been tastefully, and professionally tuned. I have only installed the best parts. All of the upgrades were installed, tuned, and maintained by Foreign Affairs Motorsport, located in Pompano Beach, FL. You can look up more information about them here: foreignaffairsmotorsports dot com - They have a phenomenal reputation, and they are family owned.

This is a non-smoker car, has never been in an accident, and has always been kept in a covered garage.

Modifications include:

2.0 TSI APR ECU STAGE 2 PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE

CARBONIO TSI COLD AIR INTAKE

USP 3 INCH STAINLESS STEEL 2.0 TUBRO FSI/TSI DOWNPIPE

AKRAPORVIC LINK PIPE VW SS

AKRAPOVIC EXHAUST SYSTEM STAINLESS STEEL WITH MUFFLERS (NO TIPS)

AKRAPOVIC TAIL PIPE SET TITANIUM 100MM

ST COILOVER SUSPENSION KIT VW

VMR WHEELS V710 19*8.5 5*112 57.1 ET45 MATTE BLACK

235/35ZR19 MICHELIN PILOT SUPER SPORT

28MM FRONT SWAY BAR

24MM REAR SWAY BAR

HOTWIRED VALENTINE 1

BLACKED OUT FRONT TURN SIGNAL

BLACKED OUT LUG BOLTS

BLACKED OUT EMBLEMS ALL AROUND

Over $11,000 invested in this car!

So after all of these upgrades, how does it drive?

Light and super fast. According to APR, and Akrapovic, the numbers fall around 280-300hp and 300-320 torque. I have never dyno tested the car, but I do have access to one if you are interested. This car launches off the line with such aggression, the wheels cannot even grip the pavement. When cruising on the highway, and the rpm’s are around 3500-4000 and you lightly press the gas, the car wants to take off.  You will be thrown into your seat with a smile. The sway bars, coil-overs, and super sports greatly increase the grip, rigidity, and athleticism of this car. The Akrapovic exhaust is about as beautiful of a sound as you can imagine. From both inside and outside, the sound is such perfection; you’ll find you are driving with the windows down in the middle of summer just to hear it! Also, what most people who want to buy the exhaust and have not heard it in person, the exhaust has such a nice deep resonant presence at idle, that most people don’t expect to see a 4 cylinder pull up. The quality of the exhaust is astounding; Akrapovic is hands down, the best.

Best part about all of this… the car does not suffer significant mpg’s, and daily driving this car is perfect. The power doesn’t throw you into your seat until 3800rpms. Everything below is smooth, with wonderful road manners. Occasionally, there is some rubbing in the back. This only happens though if potholes/bumps are not negotiated properly, or you are carrying your girlfriend’s suitcase in the back.

Of course, if you are looking at this car, and have gotten this far into my description, you are probably aware of all of this. This is one of the best, pure GTI’s you are going to find. There isn’t a navigation system; the car has the original plaid seats, and a 6speed. The options are sparse, but the car is very light. This car has been done the right way.

Asking price is $29,500.

Let me know what you think, shoot me an email with any questions you have, and if you are really serious, send me an offer. If you’re in the Miami/Coral Gables/Midtown/Miami Beach Area, let me know, and you can come by and check it out!

Thanks for your interest!

Last VW bus ever made arrives at final destination

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

A Brazilian politician tried to save it, unsuccessfully, so the final Last Edition Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi was produced on December 20, 2013 and now resides in a vintage museum at Volkswagen's Commercial Vehicles HQ in Hanover, Germany.
The Volkswagen Microbus was built for 56 years, starting in September 1957. Brazil was the last country still assembling it, but new safety regulations in the country requiring airbags and ABS on all cars spelled the end. When that politician introduced a bill that would pardon only the 'Bus from a death sentence, it couldn't garner the required number of votes for passage. The South American country takes the Kombi production title, though, with 1.5 million of the 3.5 million total made in the home of Copacabana beach and the girl from Ipanema.
The VW Bus is dead. Now perhaps we can turn our attentions to the still-not-totally-settled matter of the Bulli...

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?

VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.
