It has no dings, dents, or scratches. It has never been in an accident and the only wear on the car is what one would expect for having driven it carefully for 15k miles. It has absolutely zero mechanical issues."

I am selling my 2012 Golf R, purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle in March of 2013. At that time it had roughly 4k miles on it and was just titled the previous November (2012).  This means that it is covered by both the original factory warranty (3 year/36,000 mile) and the certified pre-owned warranty (2 year/24,000) warranty and they do stack and transfer to the new buyer and include roadside assistance. I am a huge VW GTI fan and it has been an absolute pleasure owning this car. If I could keep it, I would. But I have recently relocated to New York City for work and I have no need for the car and can't afford to keep it. It is a gray 2-Door version loaded with all options: leather seats, heated seats, heated mirrors, navigation, bluetooth, keyless touch entry and lock, sunroof, premium stereo, xm radio, and premium wheels. The car is AWD and performs amazingly in rain and snow. Anyone that knows this car also knows that it is very quick and really fun to have as a daily driver. This car has no aftermarket parts and has never been raced, beaten, or otherwise abused. I have babied it from the day I bought it.

I am currently financing the car and put a lot of money down on it, so I am looking to recoup a bit of that down payment. KBB lists this car as worth $29.5k in excellent condition and $28.7k in very good condition. I would argue that this car is definitely in excellent condition, but I feel that KBB overstates values a bit and it would help me if I could sell the car quickly. Therefore, I am setting the reserve much lower than those numbers and setting the auction to start at $25k. Upon winning the auction, the buyer must contact me within 24 hours to establish the day and method of exchange. I am also requiring a $1000 deposit within 3 business days of end of auction. If I do not receive the deposit, I will assume you are not a serious buyer and reserve the right to sell to anyone else.

The car is currently located in Queens, NY and I would prefer local pickup. However, I would be willing to deliver it up to an hour away, or as far south as Philadelphia since I have family in the area that I can stay with, though it would have to be over a weekend. In the case of delivery, full payment and a signed bill of sale will be required beforehand. Alternatively, if picking up, I will accept the balance of the payment in the form of a certified (bank) check. Upon completion of payment, I will arrange for VW Credit (the creditor for this vehicle) to issue the title in the buyer's name.

So here is your chance to own an amazing Golf R, in fantastic condition, with low miles, for far less than you'd pay at a dealership, with all of the warranty and peace of mind that goes with it. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I also understand that any serious buyer might want to speak with me before bidding. So please just email me if that is the case and we can set up a time for a phone call.

Thanks for looking/bidding.

Volkswagen scores dominant 1-2-3 finish at Monte Carlo Rally

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Racing calendars change from year to year, but most series have that one race they just couldn't do without: the Monaco Grand Prix for F1, Le Mans for endurance racing, Dakar for rally raid, the Indianapolis 500 for Indy, the Daytona 500 for NASCAR... and for the World Rally Championship, it's the Monte Carlo Rally. Winning the Monte brings with it its own measure of bragging rights, but locking out the podium is another story altogether. And that's just what Volkswagen did this weekend on the Cote d'Azur. The hard-fought season-opener saw nine-time world champion (and seven-time Monte Carlo Rally winner) Sebastien Loeb return with Citroen, but ultimately it was the VW team that won – and won big, taking a commanding 1-2-3 finish. Sebastien Ogier (with Julien Ingrassia) finished first, followed by Jari-Matti Latvala (with Miika Anttila) in second and Andreas Mikkelsen (with Ola Floene) in third, all of them in the Volkswagen Polo R WRC that was just updated in time for the start of the season. The rally passed right through the Forest Saint Julien where Ogier was born, and at the end of it all, Mikkelsen walked little more than 50 steps from the Volkswagen garage to his condo at Quai Antoine 1er in Monte Carlo. It was only the second time VW has locked out the podium since hitting the scene two years ago, following the German team's 1-2-3 finish in Australia last season en route to its second consecutive world championship. This also marked the second year in a row that Ogier and VW have won the Monte, after narrowly losing out to Loeb in '03. The achievement in Monaco this weekend made VW only the fifth manufacturer to take the top three spots in the Monegasque capital: Renault-Alpine became the first in 1973, followed by Lancia (with the Stratos) in '76 and then again (with the Delta Integrale) in '89, Audi sandwiched between in '84 and Citroen with the "dream team" of Loeb, Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz in 2003. (Peugeot achieved the same in 2009, but that was when the Monte Carlo Rally had left the WRC and was run as part of the less prominent and lower-spec Intercontinental Rally Challenge.) Not even Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota or Ford - all dominant forces in their time - can claim that feat. The victory secures the Polo R WRC's place as the most dominant car in the championship, winning over 85 percent of the rallies in which it has been entered since its debut in 2003. Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.

Volkswagen feuds with thriving stablemate Skoda

Wed, Oct 4 2017

BERLIN, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Volkswagen managers and unions are seeking to curb competition from lower-cost stablemate Skoda, move some of its production to Germany and make the Czech brand pay more for shared technology, company sources told Reuters. As VW struggles to cut jobs and spending at German factories and turn the page on dieselgate, Skoda's superior car reviews and profitability have intensified the brands' rivalry within the Volkswagen empire. VW now wants to reduce what it sees as Skoda's unfair advantages - combining German technology with cheaper labor - and reaffirm the top-selling brand's primacy ahead of a wave of new electric car launches, the sources said. The tussle between VW and Skoda is reviving tensions at the heart of the Volkswagen group between profits and jobs, and between central control and autonomy for its 12 vehicle brands. "Instead of devoting our efforts to beating Tesla, we may just be setting up a futile internal conflict," said one manager. Once the butt of jokes, Skoda has blossomed under 26 years of VW group ownership into a successful mid-market carmaker, steadily winning business from rivals - including VW - and surpassing even Audi's operating profit margin last year. At the same time, VW is facing thousands of job cuts as management moves to trim excess capacity at German factories. Its powerful domestic unions see Skoda's success as both a threat and a potential lifeline. VW workers' representatives are now demanding the transfer of some Skoda production to their underused German plants, a source close to the supervisory board told Reuters. The proposal aims to offset declining output of the VW Passat and aging Golf that could otherwise threaten more jobs. They are also making the case that Skoda should pay higher royalties to use VW's main common vehicle platform. The so-called MQB architecture also underpins mid-sized models from the group's Audi and SEAT brands. Responding to the news, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said he would meet Skoda management and unions to ask for clarification. The government will seek to ensure that VW investment plans are followed through and that "production is not moved outside the country," a statement released by Sobotka's office said. Skoda's main union warned that a production shift could cost as many as 2,000 jobs. VW's works council declined to comment.
