from a private seller with clean and clear title in hand (with my name on it):
a 2004 VW Golf TDI - 2 owners, first was a friend of mine that got a job in Luxemburg and could only take one of his two TDIs - all records incl. maintenance and repair records come with the car. Unfortunately my friend lost the window sticker. This car is pretty rare in it's configuration - 5 speed, black matrix interior and NO SUNROOF ! This gives tall people an enormous advantage due to more headroom. This car has never ever been smoked in ! Garaged every night until recently when it had to make room for the new car. Still garaged every day at work. 100% stock except for EGR Delete and Rocket Chip Stage 1+. The motivation for the chip was only to gain fuel economy and to enable the EGR delete, this car was never raced or abused. The car has 90k miles on it and it just received the 80k service incl. the complete timing belt service (timing belt, timing belt tensioner, timing belt rollers (X3), metal impeller water pump, serpentine belt, G12 coolant) and new rear brakes (rotors and pads) from Jon Hamilton. The EGR delete and rocket chip were done at the same time. This recent service (parts and labor) carries a 24 month and 24k mile warranty and cost ~$2300. The car also just received a brand new fender at a VW / Audi certified body shop which was covered by VW's 12 year corrosion warranty. In the last months i drove the car to Cincinnati and Chicago and averaged 49 mpg driving ~5 mph over speed limit. >50 mpg without AC or cruise using standard hyper mile-ing techniques are easily obtainable. I have managed to average 52 mpg over an entire month with a lot of long distance driving, i never over inflate tires or any other non sense like that which sacrifices safety for a few mpg. The car runs great, will meet for test drive and all records will go with car. It has some dents, dings and scratches - mostly from parking incidents but is well worth the asking price. If you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime. Please do not contact me quoting KBB or other websites. Please do not contact me unless you have the funds ready and are able to purchase immediately. I will arrange PPIs at buyers expense (and reserve the right to refuse shops that i deem not trustworthy with my cars) and would be more than happy to accommodate a fly & drive. Closest airport to me is CMH (Port Columbus International Airport). My last TDI with almost 200k miles went to a very happy and satisfied buyer in Texas who flew in and drove it back (never having driven a manual car before) and averaged 56mpg all the way back ;-) And furthermore do not forget that you should ask EVERY seller of a car listed as for sale by owner if they have the title in hand with THEIR name on it -> stopcurbstoning.com ! Report every curbstoner and dealer listing as private seller to ebay (maybe one day it will help if enough people complain) ! |

Volkswagen Group's Vision 2030 strategy could bring revolution to the brands
Sat, May 11 2019One would expect a corporate plan called "Vision 2030," looking 11 years ahead through wildly tumultuous times, to involve great change and numerous forks in numerous roads. According to Automobile's breakdown of Volkswagen's path forward, though, the plans contain some lurid potential surprises. The ultimate aim is return on investment, and that means ruthless reorganization of a conglomerate with eight primary car brands, two car sub-brands, and Ducati motorcycles. The first two Vision 2030 cornerstones Automobile mentions are near boilerplate: Production network restructuring, and "streamlining of key technologies." The latter two are the ones that could upend what we know as the Volkswagen Group: focusing on the Group's core brands — meaning Audi, Porsche, and VW — and transitioning to EVs, autonomy, and other mobility solutions. Based on the report, a quote from Audi's CTO referring to the Audi brand could cover how the Group plans to handle all of its brands: "We need to find a sustainable solution for the indefinite transition period until EVs eventually take over." The boutique divisions adjacent to carmaking, Ducati and Italdesign, look likely to be spun off. For the halo car brands — Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini — apparently shareholders want double-digit returns on investment, and the trio doesn't have long to hit the target. One eyebrow raiser is when the report states, "Bugatti is tipped to be gifted to [ex-VW Group Chairman] Ferdinand Piech." Piech fathered the Veyron during his tenure at VW, and it was thought he commissioned the La Voiture Noire, but he's lately stepped so far back from VW that he sold all his shares in the Group. Automobile quoted a senior strategist as saying of money-losing Bentley, "Why invest on a backward-looking enterprise when you can support a trendsetter? A proud history and excellent craftmanship alone don't cut it anymore." We guess no one at Ferrari, McLaren, or even Porsche got that memo. Bentley is reportedly close to being put in time out, and if brand CEO Adrian Hallmark can't right the Crewe ship, the hush-hush Plan B is to prop the Flying B up enough to lure a buyer. As for Lamborghini, caught between two masters at Audi and Porsche, even record-breaking numbers at the Italian supercar maker barely staved off sacrilege. It's said that VW brand CEO Herbert Diess considered putting a 5.0-liter Porsche V8 into the Aventador successor.
Volkswagen profit jumps as it warns of a cooling auto market
Wed, Oct 30 2019FRANKFURT, Germany — Volkswagen says its profits jumped 44% in the third quarter thanks to a more profitable mix of vehicles in its lineup but warned that global car markets are slowing more than expected and lowered its forecast for annual sales. After-tax profit rose to $4.42 billion (3.98 billion euros) as revenues rose 11% to $68.27 billion (61.42 billion euros). The sales margin of 7.8% exceeded the goal of 6.5-7.5% as vehicles bringing higher profits took a larger share of sales. The Wolfsburg-based automaker pointed to the headwinds facing the industry by saying that it expects "vehicle markets will contract faster than previously anticipated in many regions of the world." It said sales would be "on a level" with last year's record of 10.8 million vehicles. Previously it had expected a slight increase. The company said its profits would be in the lower end of its forecast range. Global automakers are facing a slowdown in sales amid disputes over trade and from pressure in the European Union and China to develop and sell low-emission vehicles that require heavy investment in new technology. Ford and Renault have issued profit warnings in recent days, while Daimler, maker of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars, lost money in the second quarter and is expected to outline a cost-cutting strategy for investors on Nov. 14. Volkswagen is leading the push into electric vehicles in Europe by launching its ID.3 battery-powered compact car at prices it says will make zero local emission vehicles a mass phenomenon. The company was able to increase earnings in the quarter despite an 18% rise in spending on research and development.
Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*
Tue, 23 Sep 2014The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.
