2023 Chicago Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery: See all the new cars from the show

The 2023 Chicago Auto Show played host to a number of reveals this year, and we were there to capture all of them. In traditional auto show fashion, that means you’re getting a mega gallery of galleries to flip through and see all the vehicles on the show floor. Our EditorsÂ’ Picks from the show are already out — spoiler alert, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander took home the prize. That said, there were other important reveals like the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport and the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. We also learned some interesting tidbits, such as the fact that VW is considering a pickup, and Jeep owners really are plugging in. Former Porsche execs charged with stock manipulation in Germany

The ongoing indictment of top Porsche executives for alleged stock manipulation during the attempted takeover of Volkswagen has taken years to reach an actual decision, but a trial date has finally been set for October 22. In addition to former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (pictured above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter, prosecutors have also added Anton Hunger, who was communications boss at the time, to the list of those charged, according to Reuters. The men purportedly made false statements to investors about plans to acquire 75 percent of VW stock. The prosecutor also dropped charges against Ferdinand Piech and Wolfgang Porsche in the same case, Reuters reports. The two Porsche family members were on the company's board at the time, but investigators found that they had no role in making the false statements. If found guilty, the former Porsche execs could face up to five years in prison. As expected, lawyers for Wiedeking and Haerter have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing by their clients. The investigation into Porsche SE's actions during the failed VW takeover go back to at least 2009 when the firm's offices were raided. Wiedeking and Haerter were eventually indicted in 2012. A Stuttgart court initially dismissed the case for lack of evidence, but in 2014 that decision was reversed on appeal. At the same time, investors have brought multiple civil lawsuits against the company, but none of those cases have been successful.

Volkswagen Beetle special edition concepts hit NY [w/poll]

Buying a retro hatchback or convertible like a VW Beetle is nothing if not a fashion statement, and nobody knows that better than Volkswagen itself. Which is likely why the German automaker is bringing four concept versions of the Bug to the New York Auto Show this year. Most intriguing of the quartet – to our eyes at least – is the Beetle R-Line concept, which takes a more performance-oriented approach. It's got 20-inch alloys riding on a wider track, an aero pack including a rear diffuser and spoiler, and black trim that looks great in contrast to the white pearl finish. The interior has been upgraded, as well, with sport buckets, carbon trim and yellow details, and the concept is powered by the 2.0-liter TSI engine with 217 horsepower. The R-Line concept won't be taking the stage alone, however, joined as it will be by the magenta-sprayed Pink Color Edition hatch, the beach-themed Wave and jeans-wearing Denim edition convertibles. Though all are billed strictly as showcars for the time being, VW admits it will be gauging public reaction to all four to determine potentially putting them into production for public consumption.
