Sarasota, Florida, United States
|
1988 VW Cabriolet "beach car" Selling as dependable, fun transportation or ultimate parts car w/clear Florida title. We have more in the clutch and brakes than the price of the car! FIRST $995.00 CASH drives away! Runs great and straight down the road. Brand new Sachs clutch, clutch cable, throw-out bearing, pressure plate ($793.45) CV boots replaced w/German replacement boots. ($268.10) Brand new front brakes and both front rotors also new. ($462.77) Both seats are in car, one seat out to show the interior better. Top is pretty much shot, NOT 100% waterproof, rear window in tact. Cosmetic TLC and loose dirty seats are the worse things. Shift is a bit sloppy, but zero problems getting in any gear, including reverse. Odometer stopped at 120k, speedometer works as it should. A/C not working. Steering leaks a bit. Same older owner over 24-years, he just bought a new car as this one needed more work than he could afford, so we did the work to keep it alive and kicking! Drive, restore, beach ride, or hate to say it - but ultimate parts car if you have a Cabriolet. We simply don't part out cars here at Sunshine Auto Garage - where "No VW should ever die"... That's up to you. Stop by and see the car. Located in Sarasota. Sold as is where it is. Not everyone wants a restored car, this is just fun beach transportation or perfect to run errands on a sunny day. ***My mechanic just scraped the rear quarter today 6-5-14. Not bad, but see pics. Grrrrr. sunshineautogarage.com "No VW should ever die" |

Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts
Fri, 08 Mar 2013We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.
Volkswagen's latest ad is not subtle | Autoblog Podcast #509
Fri, Mar 24 2017On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are joined by special guest James Riswick, who has been driving a lot of new cars lately. All of them are discussed, plus a few more from Mike and David, and Mike rants a bit about a new VW Atlas commercial. The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, during which David briefly goes out into left field. (He's back now, don't worry.) The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. World Car Of The Year down to its final four
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
Judges for the World Car of the Year Award have narrowed down the finalists to just four vehicles. Out of a total of 42 entries, only the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT-86 and Volkswagen Golf remain standing. For Volkswagen, this marks the second consecutive year the company has had an entry among the finalists, and the fourth time since 2009. In order to qualify, a vehicle must be on sale on two continents during the span of time between January 1, 2013 and May 30, 2013. A panel of 66 journalists from 23 countries then vote on the finalists.
Three vehicles have made the cut for the last round of voting on the 2013 World Performance Car as well, with the Cayman/Boxster and FR-S/BRZ/GT-86 running against the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Meanwhile, the Renault Zoe, Tesla Model S and Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid are duking it out for the World Green Car Award. Finally, the World Car Design of the Year Award is up for grabs between the Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar F-Type, and the Mazda6. Check out the full press release below. Overall winners will be presented at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
