Rare nine passenger 1968 transporter. Original 2 owner rust free California bus purchased new by Marvin Hackabous in 1968 at Ely VW in Oakland California. The van was maintained by the same dealership for years. New not rebuilt 1600 cc dual port motor with external oil filter. Under 7500 miles on new motor. Transmission shifts perfectly. This bus has had one window out repaint, New windshield, tinted side windows and window rubber. New front seat upholstery and padding, new fuel and vacuum lines. New Toyo tires with correct load rating. New custom birch wood head liner. Rare to find a original dry California 9 passenger bus in this condition. This bus would make a perfect daily driver as all mechanics have been restored and rebuilt. The bus runs and drives perfect.

Paint / Body - This bus has had only one repaint. Body is strait, all door and body gaps look great. New windshield, tinted side windows and rubber. All windows were removed prior to paint. Battery trays are solid. There are a couple minor dings on the body.

Engine / Transmission - New not rebuilt 1600 cc motor with less than 7500 miles. External oil filter. New clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, battery, plugs, fuel and vac lines, rebuilt carb, new alternator, fresh tune up. Plenty of power with the upgraded motor. To much to list contact me for additional information.

Interior - The interior in this bus is in good condition. The front seats have been reupholstered using new seat padding and replacing all broken seat springs. Nice original Saphire radio. Front and rear rubber mats are in good condition. New custom birch wood head liner. All interior panels are birch wood and look amazing. Correct full middle seat.

Other - Brand new Toyo tires with correct load rating ($600) new wheel bearings, brand new front brake wheel cylinders, rubber hoses, shoes and master cylinder ($600). Original factory manual with Oakland California dealer service stamps, (see picture)

I chose not to restore this van as it is in great original condition. All mechanics have been done. interior is in good condition. Solid, dry, strait California bus. This bus is an excellent investment. with a new paint job and a little work this bus is worth double my reserve price. This bus is the perfect daily driver. The bus runs drives, steers, shifts perfect. Very rare 9 passenger transporter. Rare to find a two owner dry California bus in this condition.  This bus has been carefully taken care of all these years and in great condition. There is to much to list. Great investment. VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR is black and yellow, black and yellow

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Way back in 1973, Volkswagen decided it was high time to take the loveable air-cooled Bug racing. No, it wasn't painted in Herbie colors - Volkswagen called its sport-tuned machine the Beetle GSR, "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer." Hence, the somewhat shocking paint scheme.
VW is bringing its sporty black and yellow Beetle back for 2014, and you can see live photos of it above. It's got a 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood (that'd be the hood up front, unlike the car's forebear), and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission sends those ponies to the front wheels. Note that this car's output is up 10 horses on other turbo VWs, and the Jetta GLI and Beetle Turbo for 2013. The 0-60 run takes 6.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour.
Besides the in-your-face black and yellow paint, the GSR is outfitted with a large rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels shod with 235/40 tires. The bee-like hue carries over inside, with yellow stitching on black leather. Only 3,500 will be produced, each with its own unique plaque. Pricing has not yet been announced, but you're free to read through the press release below all the same.

NA auto output to reach 11-year peak

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.
