This has been our camper for the last 6 years and has taken my family to many beautiful destinations. I drive it 3-5 days per week to work 9 miles away. We are selling it because we just purchased a travel trailer. The van was getting a little tight with a 4 year old on rainy campouts. I am the third owner with all of the work records from the last two owners. The van has not been in any accidents and I have a clean title.
The van has been a member of the Wet Westies here in the NorthWest Sleeps 4 comfortably. The color is "Orly Blue". The stock engine in these is a 1900cc and when loaded for travel, aren't going to get you up any hills quickly. Being in volcano country and taking lots of trips, we had a Go Westy 2400cc engine put in. This allowed us to load up for 2 week vacations and go up some steep hills without trouble. The engine has been a good investment and have been very happy with this extra expense and so will the buyer.
The Good
-Just inspected at A&P specialties and I have a copy of the report - included in images, please look
-New GoWesty 2400cc engine with about 12,000 miles on it.
-New Alternator
-New Exhaust system
-New catalytic converter
-New BF Goodrich tires
-New GoWesty Stainless Steel coolant pipes added in 2012
-New power/water connectors on outside of camper as of late 2012
-Wasser Stopper -- rain fly cover from GoWesty
-GoWesty fridge removal kit applied -- Still have original fridge for those interested. (We are keeping the removable Engel fridge"
-Kitchen works great -- propane stove and sink with water tank
-Lots of storage space
-Two adjustable tables
-Power inverter 12v to 110
-GoWesty backup battery kit and deep cycle backup battery
-Voltmeter to measure battery power
-New Battery Aug 2011
-Brakes done in late 2009 -- replaced front brake shoes and rear brake drum, resurfaced rotor. A checkup at the mechanic shows it wont take another resurfacing on the front.
-New Steel bumpers from GoWesty
-Side ladder to reach roof -- a very unique addition, I get lots of inquiries and not many out there
-Upholstery and curtains in great condition
-Headlights replaced 2012
-GoWesty LED light kit for interior
-Passes DEQ
-New Fuel Tank
-New fuel pump
-Trailer Hitch
-AC Converted to R134A
-Turbo blower for heater
-Heater works up front and in rear
-Alignment done in late 2012
-Step installed to get to top bunk
-Hydraulic lifters for the pop top to allow for heavy loads on the roof rack
-72" Yakima bars
-Automatic GL
-Just checked up at A&P specialties
The underside has no rust at all!! I counted only 9 small spots of rust on the entire body due to nicks and rock chips that made it to bare metal. Since I've found these, I intend to fix, but wanted to be upfront about their existence. Details are:
4 are pea sized or smaller
4 are hair line
1 over the rear fender has been covered and treated for at least 6 years and not grown
The Bad
-AC compressor not working well (blows cool) but the good side of this is it is converted to R134A
-Could use a new paint job, but many have said it is good as is.
-Crack in center of windshield. Very drivable as is. Hasn't been worth the deductible to fix in my opinion. With a "Buy it now" sale, I will fix the windshield before picked up.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I love to talk about the van, but please no tire kickers.

Audi's Project Artemis woes could delay range of VW Group EVs
Tue, Jul 19 2022Two years ago, Audi's then new CEO Markus Duesmann announced his first big initiative called Project Artemis. The plan's marquee component is "to implement a new lighthouse project for Audi in record time," being "a highly efficient electric car scheduled to be on the road as early as 2024" on a brand new platform that would be shared with Porsche and Bentley. An ex-VW and -Porsche man named Alex Hitzinger, who'd also spent time at Apple working on the tech company's electric car, was brought on board to lead Project Artemis and come up with new ideas. Parent Volkswagen Group said it wanted to become "as agile as in a racing team," removing the bureaucratic molasses and bottlenecks interfering with getting the best product on the road in the best time. However, in any grand venture, failure comes before success. Automobilwoche reports that Artemis is struggling through issues large enough to push the product plans back by years. The issue, as it was with the ID.3 lineup on the eve of that car's launch, is software. Well, that's the latest, largest problem; Artemis has already been through copious struggles before getting to the software bit. Two months after Hitzinger came on, in December 2020, VW raised its EV volume target from 50% to 70% by 2030. That necessitated a rethink of the VW Group's entire platform strategy considering the far greater production scale. Hitzinger only lasted six months in the job, ousted in May 2021, supposedly because Audi believed his ideas were "not suitable for profitable series production" among other reasons. By that time, the pace of software development was already said to be six months behind schedule, with the Car.Software division working on VW.OS 2.0 "not yet running at the speed hoped for." Internal frictions were noteworthy and costly as well. VW's commercial division plant in Hanover was meant to build Artemis vehicles for Audi, Porsche and Bentley, but Automobilwoche reported in January of this year that Porsche paid a ""small three-digit million amount" — like $100 million or so — to get out of the deal mandating its vehicles come from the Hanover facility.  So Audi effectively brought Artemis in-house to lead vehicle development, and Car.Software turned into Cariad to get VW.OS and VW.AC, which stands for Automotive Cloud, to market. The first Audi vehicle under Project Artemis was planned to arrive by the end of 2024, a production version of the Grandsphere concept.
Touring the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Forgive the ribbon up top - this isn't so much of a Read This as a Look At This. Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites. If you're a fan of the weird and wild, this is a post you'll want to look at.
As RWP points out, this is the larger, but less busy, museum targeted purely at Volkswagen products. The smaller AutoStadt museum, meanwhile, covers a much broader swath, with products from other Volkswagen Group members. VW invests in QuantumScape for potentially fireproof, long-range EV batteries
Mon, Dec 8 2014VW might be getting ready to push its plug-in technology in a big way thanks to an investment in the battery startup QuantumScape. Key point: the solid-state battery is said to be fireproof and will offer tremendous range advantages. Details are not abundant yet, but according to Bloomberg, VW of America bought a five-percent stake in QuantumScape (and has an option to raise its holding). The tech could "more than triple" the EV range of VW, Porsche and Audi plug-in vehicles as soon as the middle of 2015, according to unnamed sources that Bloomberg talked to. Former Stanford University researchers started QuantumScape in 2010. The bare-bones QuantumScape website (there's nothing there other than some contact information) doesn't offer many hints about what's happening at the company, but GigaOM's Katie Fehrenbacher notes that QuantumScape is licensing tech from the "All Electron Battery" project at Stanford a few years ago. It certainly sounds amazing: [It's] a completely new class of electrical energy storage devices for electric vehicles that has the potential to provide ultra-high energy and power densities, while enabling extremely high cycle life. The All-Electron Battery stores energy by moving electrons, rather than ions, and uses electron/hole redox instead of capacitive polarization of a double-layer. ... If successful, this project will develop a completely new paradigm in energy storage for electrified vehicles that could revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. If that's what's coming in a future e-Golf or E-Tron, sign us up.
