| Vanagon Carrat 1.9 PD TDi Diesel | ||
| I have for sale my 1990 Vanagon Carrat automatic. It has a Eurospec 1.9PD TDi engine conversion with intercooler.( This is the only automatic kit done with a PD as far as I know) It's registered as a diesel in California ( so no worries with smog) I put about 20K miles on the engine when the actuator on the turbo failed, which unfortunately also did minor damage to the engine.( engine block was not damaged ) The engine was completely rebuild with new pistons and rods and new turbo. The cam was also replaced and so too the lifters with the new DLC ones.( This was just a upgrade ) The engine currently has about 3K since the rebuild. The transmission has about 20K on it(new when installed with the engine) I started with a NOS trans, and replaced the guts with that of the Audi Turbo. The difference is the turbo trans has 4 planetary gear vs 3 on the Vanagon trans. I also used the clutch packs from the turbo trans which if recall correct has 2 extra discs per gear set. I installed the lower "rare" ring and pinion to bring the RPM down. The torque converter was also re-done by Oregon Torque Converters as they had to change the stall speed as it was slipping at high RPM (150HP Chip) It has the 280mm big brakes and also the bigger SA rear drums and shoes. The wheels are 16" Overland Parts alloy wheels with 215/70-16 Grabber UHP tires(50%) Front Bull Bar. SA round lights and grill kit with H4 HID lights. Has a rare OE VW CD player radio (Looks just like the original radio but with cd player) AC is cold and has the newer R134 compressor. The chassis has 213K miles and it gets about 22mpg in town and 26-28mpg freeway. The body and interior is 7/10. I can send more pics per request. This vehicle is sold "AS IS" No warranty said or implied. There are also some spare parts that go with the Van that I have collected along the way. |

Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash
Thu, 11 Oct 2012After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."
Editors' Picks March 2022 | Acura RDX, VW GLI and a Rolls-Royce
Tue, Apr 5 2022This month's Editors' Picks offer a little something at every budget. We call out a performance car as cheap as the Volkswagen GLI, but the Rolls-Royce Ghost also manages to make its way on to the list. Of course, very few folks can afford a Ghost, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an engineering master class. In addition to these options, we also dive into the compact luxury SUV market, one that is bursting with choices. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Acura RDX Quick take: The RDX ticks a lot of boxes for a great price. It drives better than expected, offers excellent tech, has plenty of room and even looks the part. Score: 7.0 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX50, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Genesis GV70, Porsche Macan, Jaguar F-Pace, Lincoln Corsair Pros: Value, driving dynamics, space Cons: Infotainment is polarizing, midgrade interior From the editors Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "The RDX is a bit of a sleeper in this segment. It drives far better than many of its competitors, and it doesn't let you down in any particular area. If you were thinking of buying an entry-level option from one of the Germans, make sure you take the RDX into account, because you'll likely end up with more tech and features for an even lower price. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Acura RDX is an impressive value in the small luxury SUV segment. It starts in the low $40,000 price range, and provides loads of standard convenience and safety features. Everything is packaged in a sharp and surprisingly spacious package, too. It's also nimble and has a punchy engine that makes it fun to drive. You may find some competitors that surpass it in some areas, but the Acura offers about the most for the money of anything in the segment." In-depth analysis: 2022 Acura RDX Review | Value-packed and surprisingly sporty  2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Quick take: The GLI offers excellent driving dynamics and great styling for someone who doesn't want a hatchback. It's pricey, but it's worth it.
10 best new car deals in late September 2021
Wed, Sep 29 2021New car sales were drastically affected in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things started to show signs of recovery toward the end of the year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Now there's an ongoing shortage of microchips causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. That doesn't mean there aren't still great deals on new cars, though. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for September 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).
