1981 Vanagon being sold AS-IS  Where-is.   This Vanagon lived its life in Missouri and is Structurally Rust-Free,  which is nearly impossible to find in Connecticut.
There is small surface rust spots on the corner of the windshield and bottom of rear window.

New gas tank, comes with Van-Again hoses and seals kit to remedy small leak problem when filling up to filler neck level.  Bilstein shocks all around. Most new brake hardware including master cylinder for clutch and brake.

Very low mile New  GEX Powermaster engine with most of the performance options,  runs strong.  Go up hills on the highway without having to get in the breakdown lane :-)
Engine and clutch package professionally installed by local VW dealer.

I have "new" front doors from a later model bus that are primered and ready to paint. They have very good condition window and door seal rubber and glass.
Also have 2 replacement seats from later model Bus that are in nice shape but Blue.  New fabric is readily available from Sew-Fine at very reasonable costs.

This van is a great candidate for a restoration project.  No structural rust on a vehicle of this year is rare.  The GEX powermaster engine has less than 4k miles on it.

This Van is a 33 year old vehicle.  Obviously there are a few things that it needs to be driven regularly, and is being sold AS-IS.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.

Volkswagen Golf R Evo may debut at Beijing Motor Show

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. The Evo in its name will come from having a carbon fiber roof and CF in the bodywork, lighter wheels, thinner bucket seats up front and a roll cage instead of rear seats.
If there's a power increase, it's been described as "a small bump." However, as the report mentions, if the Jenny Craig regimen can drop 100 kilograms (220 pounds) from the the 3,247-pound weight of the European Golf R, then the Golf R Evo will do about the same damage on the scales as the Golf but have at least 50 more horsepower and 44 more pound-feet of torque.
Since we still don't have the current Golf, this isn't something that should keep you awake even if the 'concept' does become a production model. But it is good to know that the Golf R is really going to start pushing its boundaries.

Volkswagen officially grants access to UAW in Tennessee

Tue, Dec 9 2014

An audit at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN has revealed that at least 45 percent of the facility's workers support unionization, leading the German company to grant access rights to the United Auto Workers. This is a tremendous step in the UAW's long-running and at times contentious pursuit of the workforce at Chattanooga. With this latest move, "local leadership is ready to move forward with additional conversations with the company," the union said in a statement obtained by The Detroit News. "As a starting point, UAW Local 42 will take advantage of the company's offer to establish bi-weekly meetings with Volkswagen Human Resources and the Volkswagen Chattanooga Executive Committee." The News reports that UAW Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel, shown above speaking at the Chattanooga plant last summer, claimed these meetings "will remind Human Resources and the Chattanooga Executive Committee of the mutually agreed-upon commitments that were made by Volkswagen and the UAW last spring in Germany. Among those commitments: Volkswagen will recognize the UAW as the representative of our members. We believe Volkswagen made this commitment in good faith and we believe the company will honor this commitment." It's important to note that despite Casteel's remarks, this is not a collective-bargaining agreement, Harley Shaiken, a labor professor at University of California, Berkeley, told The News. "But it is a step in the direction of recognition, which ultimately could lead to collective bargaining. This is not the end point," Shaiken said. "We don't know what's next. We're in unchartered territory."
