1976 Volkswagen Vw Westfalia Camper Van Bus on 2040-cars
Topeka, Kansas, United States
No reserve. You are bidding on a 1976 VW Camper Van that runs but is in need of some restoration. There is rust along the lower part of the van, in the battery area and around the front window. There are places where the paint is chipped and the gas gauge does not work. The original color was mustard yellow. The engine is a 2000cc Porsche engine. It has a muffler exhaust assembly that I purchased from JC Whitney several years ago; it is loud but could be replaced. This could be a nice camper van for the right person who knows how to fix rust. I purchased it new in 1976 in Europe where my wife and I traveled 16,000 miles in this camper as we played hooky from work for 6 months. We have been the sole owners and have saved all maintenance records. I have uploaded several high resolution photos and a HD video that give an accurate description of its condition. It comes with a folding table, stool and a kiddie cot that goes above the drivers area. While the van runs, I would not trust it to be driven any significant distance until repairs are completed. This is mostly due to the rust in the battery area as the battery is currently sitting on a board. So, unless this is a local purchase it should be shipped to its destination. Buyer is responsible for transportation. If you have any questions please ask. You can also schedule a time to see the van in person before the auction ends. Even 'basic' girls are tired of their cheating VW Jettas
Sat, Sep 26 2015Well, this didn't take long. Former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn's office probably hasn't even been packed yet, and the jokes about his scandal-ridden former employer have already begun to fly. Today, we'll be featuring the team from Funny Or Die, which has opted to not only skewer Volkswagen for its TDIsaster, but one of the victims of the company's catastrophe – the 'basic' girl. For those not in the know, "basic," according to Urban Dictionary is an adjective reserved for someone "devoid of defining characteristics that might make a person interesting, extraordinary, or just simply worth devoting time or attention to," and that they are "lacking intelligence and unable to socialize on even an elementary level." And when it comes to basic girls, the Volkswagen Jetta is as ubiquitous as a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. But with the VW controversy, basic girls are finding their Jettas aren't so good for their green credentials. So check out Funny Or Die's take on these scorned drivers, in the video above. And fair warning, there's a bit of foul language.
VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini
Fri, 14 Mar 2014It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
Volkswagen Touareg hybrid axed for 2016
Fri, Aug 7 2015Volkswagen is axing the Touareg hybrid for the 2016 model year. At a starting price of $67,905 (after $910 destination), the 2015 version sat at the top of the Touareg range, but it didn't offer significantly improved fuel economy for the extra money. The hybrid was only three miles per gallon city and one mpg highway better than the base V6. Another hurdle for potential buyers: the entry-level diesel had even better highway mileage and cost over $14,000 less. Earlier this year, Nissan made a similar decision to scrap the Pathfinder hybrid, and the future for the QX60 hybrid is murky. Volkswagen has a few other adjustments in store for the 2016 Touareg. The biggest change is that the whole lineup sees about $2,000 sliced off the price. According to Car and Driver, the adjustment knocks $2,090 off the base price to bring things to $42,705. In addition, the Lux and Executive trims now get standard 14-way power adjustable and ventilated seats, and the two of them are also offered with new, 21-inch wheels. The Executive also now gets power adjustment on the steering column and a suite of safety tech, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warning.
