I PURCHASED THIS VAN FROM AN ESTATE SALE OF A VW COLLECTOR IN CALIFORNIA. IT WAS IN A DRY PLACE AND THERE IS ALMOST NO RUST TO SPEAK OF IN THIS CAR. THE HISTORY REFLECTS THE OWNER ETC AND I LEFT CALI TAG ON THE CAR.

UNDERCARRIAGE IS BONE STOCK AND ORIGINAL AND UNMOLESTED AND I WOULD TELL YOU THAT IT HAS NO RUST AT ALL THAT I CAN SEE OR FIND ANYWHERE THERE, THIS IS A AMAZING ORIGINAL BUS. IT HAD TINY LITTLE SURFACE RUST SPOTS AROUND THE VAN, I HAD THEM PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED WITH FIBERGLASS NOT BONDO, AND HAD THEM FAUX PAINTED TO LOOK LIKE A RUST COLOR TO GIVE IT A LITTLE PATINA AND NOT HIDE THE LITTLE REPAIRS, THE DRIP RAIL HAD A FEW RUST SPOTS, AGAIN REPAIRED WITH FIBERGLASS, AND PRIMERED WHITE NOT TO HIDE ANYTHING.

PAINT IS ORIGINAL TO THE BUS EVERYWHERE I CAN TELL. BUMPERS WERE DIRTY AND PERFECT I PRIMERED THEM WHITE TO PRESERVE THEM, NO RUST.
BUS JUST HAD A 1200.00 SERVICE AT A CERTIFIED VW SHOP AND RECEIPT COMES WITH CAR. CARBS REDONE, NEW CHROME AIR CLEANERS, (ORIGINAL AIR BOX WILL COME WITH VAN INSIDE A BOX FOR PEOPLE WHO WANTS THE ORIGINAL LOOK) , SERVICE TO TRANNY, NEW VALVE COVER GASKET, NEW PLUGS, OIL CHANGED, TANK DROPPED AND DRAINED, NEW FUEL FILTER, ETC.

INSTALLED NEW AFTERMARKET CHROME SIDE MIRRORS AND ANTENNA WITH CHROME BASE. DONT BELIEVE RADIO IS WORKING BUT HAVE NOT TESTED.
150.00 WORTH OF NEW VINTAGE SURF DECALS. BRAND NEW REPRO LUGGAGE RACK COST $500.00. NEW CUSTOM CURTAINS INSTALLED. BOTH FRONT SEATS WERE PROFESSIONALLY UPHOLSTERED AT VW SHOP TO LOOK ORIGINAL, COST $800.00.

THE VAN RUNS DRIVES AND SHIFTS GREAT, IT GOES JUST A VW SHOULD. I DONT KNOW IF ITS A 1.6 OR 1.8 MOTOR BUT IM LOOKING INTO IT. IF YOU WANT A BUS THAT IS NOT JUNK, THIS IS IT.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Volkswagen calls its 2015 Jetta "refined, redesigned," and countless man-hours have gone into its re-engineering, but you'd need to crawl all over the car, unbolt most of the body, drive it or spend some time on VW's website to fathom the changes. That's why we wrote, "2015 Volkswagen Jetta is new, we promise," when we first saw the car in New York last April. While we wait for a sweeping next-generation overhaul to come, the marquee elements for now are the new structure underneath designed to win an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, fuel economy increases and a heavily reworked 2.0 TDI diesel engine. Plus, there's ornamental detailing around the body and updated interior, and the revamped trim package and accessories matrix promises to provide more value. That makes it a better buy than the 2014 model, assuming it can find buyers ready to appreciate the subtleties. Outside, improved aerodynamic prowess is the primary goal, and almost all of the visual refresh works to further that aim. A new grille with three cross fins sits atop a slipperier bumper and air intakes. On models with the 1.8T gas engine and new 2.0 TDI diesel, the grille is fitted with a shutter to decrease drag and, on the diesel, speed up the engine warming. There are sleeker rain gutters inside the A-pillars and paneling under the body by the rear axles. Attending to airflow in back is an altered decklid reshaped with an integrated spoiler. Among the other changes are optional adaptive bi-Xenon headlights lined with 15 LED running lights and a chrome strip of brightwork. New fog lights are set in the flanks of the lower lip, and LED taillights can be had on the GLI and Hybrid models, with a tweaked VW logo sitting in between. The illuminating upgrades continue inside with ambient lighting and a crisper dash cluster display. Those cabin changes are joined by an optional "tunnel" theme for the gauges, a new steering wheel design with piano black accents and chrome, redesigned vent controls and new fabric options. Changes to the front substructure from the bumper to the front doors, and strengthened A-pillars combined to win the 2015 sedan a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. We're here to focus on the diesel model, and the updated EA288 2.0 TDI engine and its modular packaging is the most visceral highlight for 2015, inserting new numbers on every line of the spec sheet compared to its predecessor, save for cylinder bore spacing.

Volkswagen Group looks to add ridesharing brand to portfolio

Fri, Sep 30 2016

Volkswagen is rapidly trying to put the ongoing diesel scandal behind it at the Paris Motor Show with the unveiling of the automaker's electric I.D. Concept. In addition to unveiling the EV, the automaker also announced that it established a yet-to-be-named subsidiary for ridesharing purposes. The new brand will be VW Group's 13th, and will add mobility services to in the form of a carpooling service, similar to that of Uber and Lyft. This will include teaming up with Gett – a cab-hailing startup that operates in roughly 70 cities worldwide, which includes New York City, that was previously known as GetTaxi. Earlier this year, VW invested $300 million in the company. In addition to ridesharing, VW Group claims it is also hard at work on its own shuttle service as the brand aims to become a leader in urban mobility services by 2025. The name of the 13th brand and more information on the subsidiary will be released in November. VW Group also announced plans to give Gett drivers in Moscow, Russia "preferential terms" on a Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia, or Skoda Rapid. VW Group's 13th brand sounds similar to Mercedes-Benz's Vision Van Concept, which the automaker would allow consumers to lease and purchase the vehicle, as well as rent its services on a short-term basis. While the Vision Van Concept is a commercial vehicle that has delivery drones on the roof to aid deliveries, VW Group's shuttle service sounds more like autonomous buses to ferry people around. Now that diesels are dead, Volkswagen has quickly embraced the future, where autonomous and electric vehicles coexist. Related Video: Related Gallery Volkswagen I.D. Cruze Diesel Road Trip reveals the good and bad, but no ugly

Tue, Mar 31 2015

Most of us have strong opinions on diesel-powered cars based on our perceptions of and experience with them. I used to thoroughly dislike oil burners for their noise, smoke and lackluster performance, and the fact that they ran on greasy, smelly stuff that was more expensive than gasoline, could be hard to find and was nasty to get on your hands when refueling. Those negatives, for me, trumped diesel's major positives of big torque for strong acceleration and better fuel economy. Are any of those knocks on diesel still valid today? I'm not talking semis, which continue to annoy me when their operators for some reason almost never shut them down. At any busy truck stop, the air seems always filled with the sound – and sometimes smell – of dozens of big-rig diesels idling endlessly and mindlessly. Or diesel heavy-duty pickups. Those muscular workhorses are far more refined than they once were and burn much less fuel than their gasoline counterparts. But good luck arriving home late at night, or departing early morning, without waking your housemates and neighbors with their clattery racket. No, I'm talking diesel-powered passenger cars, which account for more than half the market in Europe (diesel fuel is cheaper there) yet still barely bump the sales charts in North America. Diesel fuel remains more expensive here, too few stations carry it, and too many Americans remember when diesel cars were noisy, smelly slugs. Also, US emissions requirements make them substantially more expensive to certify, and therefore to buy. But put aside (if you can) higher vehicle purchase and fuel prices, and today's diesel cars can be delightful to drive while delivering much better fuel efficiency than gas-powered versions. So far in the US, all except Chevrolet's compact Cruze Diesel come from German brands, and all are amazingly quiet, visually clean (no smoke) and can be torquey-fun to drive. When a GM Powertrain engineering team set out to modify a tried-and-true GM of Europe turbodiesel four for North American Chevy Cruze compacts, says assistant chief engineer Mike Siegrist, it had a clear target in mind: the Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2.0-liter diesel. And they'll tell you that they beat it in nearly every way. "I believe we have a superior product," he says. "It's powerful, efficient and clean, and it will change perceptions of what a diesel car can be." The 2.0L Cruze turbodiesel pumps out 151 SAE certified horses and 264 pound-feet of torque (at just 2,000 rpm) vs.
