UP FOR SALE IS A 1973 VOLKSWAGON WESTFALIA CAMPMOBILE. IT IS VERY COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL. IT HAS 133447 MILES, REPORTED TO HAVE APPROX. 10K ON A REBUILD. FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND, IT CAME WITH A TWO CARB SYSTEM, IT NOW HAS A SINGLE 2 BBL WEBER. THE BUS HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW YEARS AND IS NOT A DRIVER AS IT IS. I PUT PLUGS AND POINTS IN IT AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP WITH A PRIME. THE ENGINE SOUNDS VERY GOOD, BUT I WOULD NOT TRUST THE GAS IN THE TANK, SO THE FUEL LINE IS DISCONNECTED. I AM SURE IT WILL NEED THE REST OF A FULL TUNE-UP TO BE DONE, AND THE CARB REBUILT. IT HAS SOME RUST, BUT MINOR IN NATURE, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS. THE DRIVERS SIDE ROCKER HAS BEEN PATCHED. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS VERY CLEAN AS YOU CAN SEE. THE TIRES ARE NEAR NEW WITH NO DRY ROT. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL CURTAINS, CUSIONS, BUG SCREEN FOR THE REAR OPENING, CHILDS COT FOR THE FRONT, JUMP SEAT, AND REFRIDGERATOR WITH FOOD PREP SHELF AND SINK WITH HAND PUMP, SWING UP TABLE. THE ORIGINAL BIRCH HEADLINER IS STILL EXCELLENT. AT SOME POINT, THE FLOOR GOT WET AND THE SUB FLOOR ROTTED, SO IT AND THE VINYL WERE REMOVED. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAS CUT A PIECE OF BIRCH PLYWOOD TO REPLACE IT. THIS BUS SAT UNDER A TREE AND IT SHOWS THE GRIME THAT COMES FROM THAT. I LIGHTLY CLEANED ONE AREA ON BOTH THE FRONT LEFT, AND THE POP TOP. YOU CAN SEE THAT IT WILL CLEAN UP NICELY. THE WINDSHIELD HAS A SMALL DING IN THE LOWER LEFT PART. IT WILL NEED A NEW CANVAS FOR THE TOP, WHICH WORKS FINE. I HAVE A FILE WITH ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS, THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, AND NUMEROUS SPARES THAT HAVE BEEN COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS. AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST BY ANY MEANS, THE GREATFUL DEAD STICKER ON THE " KITCHEN " MODULE. THE RESERVE IS LOW, AS IS THE BIN. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY, AS THE BUS IS FOR SALE LOCALLY. FEEL FREE TO CALL WITH QUESTIONS 860-480-3378.

VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines
Tue, 22 Apr 2014Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012
Sun, 13 Jan 2013The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.
Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products - increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."
Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.
VW adding particulate filters to gas engines
Wed, Aug 3 2016Volkswagen is working hard to overcome the PR disaster that is its diesel emissions scandal, and part of its efforts is focusing, weirdly, on petrol engines. Starting in June 2017, the embattled German automaker will add particulate filters to the gas-powered Volkswagen Tiguan and Audi A5. The change will eventually impact nearly every direct-injected gas engine the VW Group makes. Audi? Particulate filter. Seat? Particulate filter. Even Bentley is going to get the tech, all in a bid to reduce soot emissions by 90 percent. In fact, by 2022 VAG expects 7 million of its vehicles to boast the emissions-cleaning tech, which has long been a fixture on diesel engines. "Following increases in efficiency and lower CO2 output, we are now bringing about a sustained reduction in the emission levels of our modern petrol engines by fitting particulate filters as standard," Volkswagen Group research and design boss Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn said in a statement. "In the future, all models will be equipped with the latest and most efficient SCR catalytic converter technology." VW's initial rollout focuses on the 1.4-liter, turbocharged Tiguan and the 2.0-liter, turbocharged A5. Considering the popularity of the 2.0-liter across the VW range, we'd expect it's only a matter of time before VW expands its particulate filters tech to additional gas-powered vehicles.
