1971 Vw Bus ~ T2 Westfalia Type Ii ~ Riviera Top ~ Awesome Camper Van! on 2040-cars
Inverness, Florida, United States
My son bought this bus 3 years ago when he hoped to travel the country. Now he has decided that med school is the goal instead and needs money. He has loved this bus and it has been a very dependable, fun ride. Driving it the past few years really replaced his shyness with confidence since people talk to him everywhere he goes. Everyone has a VW story it seems!
We have the original VW service record showing its birth in Sept. 1970, travels through France, Italy, Spain, etc. and its arrival in the US. It will also come with a binder of maintenance receipts and the VW official service manual. We will be happy to give you our mechanic's info to discuss the bus before you buy and of course, you are welcome to come test drive it. We may even be able to meet you if we're a little too far for you or at an airport. We have done a lot to the inside and mechanics of the bus, but my son loved the outside so we did not do much to it. If you wanted a good paint job, it does have some rust around the windows and wheel wells and you would want to replace the window seals if not at least one window. The camper is in good shape, but there are a few holes in the tent screens. What has been done on the inside: Everything was removed. There was a rust spot on the floor behind the front seats so a new metal panel was welded in. Then the entire inside had a rust coating and paint. "Fat mat" insulation was installed over that for noise and heat reduction. New flooring, carpet, side panels, headliner, and curtains were added and the seats were recovered. The spare tire was added to the front of the bus for added room inside. New rubber seals were put on the 2 front doors, sliding door, back hatch, engine compartment, and camper top. The support bars for the front seat hammock are included, but there is no hammock. Mechanically: When we first got it, we found an awesome guy at Kenny's VW Repair in Hudson, FL. It ran well at the time, but I asked him to do everything it needed to keep it safe and dependable for my son. He was awesome and he has continued to do oil changes, tune ups, and anything it needed along the way. We got 5 new tires that he recommended from The Bus Depot at the time. They have lots of life left. Receipts are in the binder that goes with the bus. We could only add 24 pics. Call 352-341-0113 for more pics or for a test drive. All questions welcome. On Jun-20-14 at 07:01:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I can't get texts, so please call or email with questions or for more pics and closeups. Thanks. |

This month's deals on wheels: 3 cars with incentives, rebates
Fri, Apr 7 2017On television, they come at you rapid-fire: truck deals, car deals, SUV deals. You don't have time to read the fine print, and many sound too good to be true. What follows are three deals that are both good and true. And check out our entire list of incentives and rebates. VOLKSWAGEN JETTA: With Dieselgate winding down and VW's all-new three-row SUV – the Atlas – winding up, Volkswagen is selling sedans with incentives. The Jetta remains VW's bestseller in the US. If you're looking for an immodest deal on modest transportation, you can do worse than a lease on the 2017 Jetta S. THE DETAILS: Purchase at 0.9% APR (no down payment required, available on new 2017 Jetta models financed by Volkswagen Credit, participating dealers only). At that rate, you could save $1,600 over the life of a loan. Offer ends May 1, but given the tepid market interest in sedans, incentives will probably continue through the balance of the model year. NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB: While some buyers will wait for Nissan's recently announced Titan King Cab, and commercial users will grab the regular cab and 8-foot bed, we'll recommend a lightly optioned 4X4 crew cab with standard V8 power, California-penned sheetmetal and a made-in-America footprint. Nissan's full-size pickup is finally a credible competitor in the pickup segment. THE DETAILS: With $3,500 cash back, on top of whatever deal you negotiate, Nissan is effectively reducing the window sticker of a Titan S crew cab by almost 10 percent. MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER: Some cars show up on buyers' radar, some don't. Some aren't anywhere near the radar room. Mitsubishi's Outlander is one of those. But that doesn't diminish its basic attractiveness, especially for young families looking for an affordable three-row SUV with responsive power and competitive features. Add one of the industry's longest warranties and a compelling deal, and you suddenly have reason to track down a Mitsubishi dealer. THE DETAILS: It couldn't be simpler – negotiate your best deal on a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, and then receive a $2,000 rebate; on a remaining 2016, it's $3,000. We'd select a fully-equipped GT 3.0S – AWC, which hooks Mitsubishi's V6 to a conventional automatic (vs. a CVT on lower-priced models) and all-wheel drive. That's a window sticker of about $34,000, and you can count on an aggressive posture by the dealer to get your business. Mitsubishi Nissan Volkswagen Car Buying Buying Guide Truck SUV Sedan
VW confirms Golf GTD diesel coming to US for 2016
Wed, 03 Jul 2013Part of the Volkswagen Golf recipe that has helped the car sell more than 30 million units in just under 40 years is the number of variants in which the hatchback is offered. Building on that range here in the US, Automotive News is reporting that we will finally be getting the sporty Golf GTD, likely as a 2016 model. It's the GTD, you'll recall, that crosses the performance abilities of the venerable GTI with a powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine.
After speaking with Andreas Valbuena, Volkswagen product manager for the Golf, AN not only says that the GTD will for sale in the US in a couple years, it also estimates a baseline price of around $27,000, which would place it between the current pricing for the GTI and the Golf R. The GTD is launching in Europe this summer, but we won't be getting the seventh-generation Golf in the US for another year. The news about the performance diesel model isn't entirely unexpected - VW officials have been hinting at it for at least a year now, going so far as to import a sixth-generation model for media test drives on US soil, a task we happily took them up on last year.
The Mk VII GTD uses VW's 2.0-liter TDI engine with output increased to 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to sprint to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds while returning more than 40 mpg in highway driving. We can't wait.
VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.
