1969 VW Bus Runs Great and shifts smoothly.  I have been driving my wife and kids to camping outings since I purchased it about 3 years ago and at least once a month to work. This has been a really fun and reliable vehicle. It has very little rust, nothing major, and has been kept in the garage.
Maintenance is up to date and has a Marine Hybrid battery less than a year old. It will do 70mph on the highway all day long,  It has its' original am/fm radio but it also has an aftermarket hidden am/fm radio by Custom Autosound (it can accomodate a CD changer if you want to add one).
The interior is in good shape and good working order. The headlights  have been upgraded to High Intensity Halogen. The weatherstripping is in good condition.
I'm including in the sale the blue canopy, the blue table, a plugin cooler that can also heat, and the one-wheeled Allstate Sears trailer. These retro looking trailers rarely come up for sale and are very sought after. Please don't ask if I will sell trailer separately as it will be sold with bus.
The longest trip we have taken was 4hrs each way but I would not hesitate to drive this bus anywhere.
I have a clear notarized Arizona title in hand, odometer read ~155,000. True miles are unknown and unverifiable. I believe engine was rebuilt by previous owner as it does not burn oil and is too strong to be in original state (I purchased the bus at an auction).  I like to be completely honest about what I am selling because I too hate surprises, so here is a list of observations.
1. The vent/heater controls do not have knobs,  however the levers are very easy to move.
2. The floors boards had minor rust pitting and small holes which were treated and repaired.
3. The base where the battery sits has rust holes. A very sturdy metal frame battery holder was made to secure battery down.
4. It no longer has the foldaway top cot, but because my kids were always wanting to sleep up there, I made a board and cut some foam to fit and turn the upper area into a bed.
5. One of the large side windows is missing its screen.
6. The windshield wiper solution sprayer does not work. All components are there, but I think the push button is the culprit.
7. There is a very small dent on bottom part of passenger side door.

8.My kids lost my keys and all I could find was the spare ignition key. A key for the doors/hood will need to be made.

A non refundable $500 deposit is required within 2 days of auction's end. I will accept a deposit through pay pal, but balance must be paid via Certified Check, Wire funds, Money Order or Cash with 7 days.

Price does not include shipping. Purchaser must set up own method of shipping but I could drop her off anywhere around town if needed.
This is a 44 year old bus that is a driver and not a trailer queen, so it is being sold as is with no warranty or guarantee. It is an excellent running VW bus and its condition is as described. Please ask additional questions if you need more information, I'll be happy to write or call back.
Check my feedback rating and bid with confidence.
if you want pics of something specific that I have not posted, I'd be more than happy to take them and send them to you.
Thanks for looking and good luck.
BTW, I really do hate to sell her (my kids are not going to be happy with me that's for sure) but I need the money, which is why the reserve and Buy it Now price have been set low. If this looks like something you have to have, don't hesitate too long, as I honestly doubt it will last until the end of the auction. With that said, I reserve the right to end the auction early.

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

VW sets aside $7.3B war chest for diesel scandal fallout

Tue, Sep 22 2015

The crisis enveloping Volkswagen AG, the world's top-selling carmaker, escalated Tuesday as the company issued a profit warning following a stunning admission that some 11 million of its diesel vehicles worldwide were fitted with software at the center of a US emissions scandal. The German company said it was setting aside around 6.5 billion euros ($7.3 billion) to cover the fallout from the scandal that has tarnished VW's reputation, raised questions over the future of CEO Martin Winterkorn and battered its share price. The reputational damage to Volkswagen is implicit in the market's response. Volkswagen's share price slid a further 16.2 percent Tuesday to a near four-year low of 112 euros. The fall comes on top of Monday's 17 percent decline. The shockwaves from the scandal enveloping Volkswagen were being felt far and wide across the sector as traders wondered who else may get embroiled. Germany's Daimler AG, the maker of Mercedes-Benz cars, was down 6.5 percent, while BMW AG fell 5.4 percent. France's Renault SA was seven percent lower. The scandal is hugely damaging to a business that relies heavily on a hard-won reputation for quality and trustworthiness. "Brands are all about trust and it takes years and years to develop. But in the space of 24 hours, Volkswagen has gone from one people could trust to one people don't know what to think of," said Nigel Currie, an independent UK-based sponsorship and branding consultant. The trigger to the company's market woes was last Friday's revelation from the US's Environmental Protection Agency that VW rigged nearly half a million cars to defeat US smog tests. The company then admitted that it intentionally installed software programmed to switch engines to a cleaner mode during official emissions testing. The software then switches off again, enabling cars to drive more powerfully on the road while emitting as much as 40 times the legal pollution limit. "We have totally screwed up." - Michael Horn "In my German words: we have totally screwed up," the head of Volkswagen's US division, Michael Horn, told an audience in New York on Monday. In its statement Tuesday, Volkswagen gave more details, admitting that there were "discrepancies" related to vehicles with Type EA 189 engines and involving some 11 million vehicles worldwide. The number of vehicles involved is more than the 10 million or so cars it sold in 2014.

VW close to decision on selling Bugatti to Rimac

Sun, Feb 21 2021

FRANKFURT — Electric hypercar maker Rimac Automobili and Volkswagen's supercar brand Bugatti are a good technological fit, Porsche's CEO told German weekly Automobilwoche, fueling hopes that a deal between the two could happen soon. British automotive magazine Car last year reported that Volkswagen was on the verge of selling Bugatti to Rimac Automobili, citing sources. In exchange, Porsche, also owned by Volkswagen, would raise the 15.5% stake it owns in Rimac, founded by Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac, Car said. "At the moment there are intense deliberations on how Bugatti can be developed in the best possible way. Rimac could play a role here because the brands are a good technological fit," Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said. "There are various scenarios with different structures. I believe that the issue will be decided by the group in the first half of the year," said Blume, who also sits on the management board of parent Volkswagen. Rimac has developed an electric supercar platform, which he supplies to other carmakers, including Pininfarina. Blume also confirmed higher savings targets for Porsche, saying the carmaker plans to support results by 10 billion euros ($12.1 billion) of cost cuts by 2025, up from 6 billion previously.
