1966 Double door walk through panel. It has been my daily driver for quite a while and now I have it parked inside until it sells.
The paint is in fair condition, it is wearing through in some spots, but still looks nice, and I love the velvet green! The cab interior has good seats with no holes and little wear. The door, ceiling, and kick panels are all new. It has a stereo, cd, mp3 player but I didn’t reinstall the speakers in the new door panels so the new owner can decide to cut them or not. I’ll include the speakers I had for it. The roof rack is included. Bumpers are fiberglass. The bus is lowered with a straight axel and adjustable front beam. The emergency brake was never hooked back up, I believe there is a kit to go with the straight axel but I never got around to ordering it. It may need the steering box rebuilt or replaced, there is a little play in it. The transmission is fairly new and shifts perfectly. The engine leaks some oil but it runs strong, it is a 1600 dual port. The tires are nearly new, bought them last season but I haven’t put many miles on since. The nose got backed into about a year ago, it appears that wasn’t the first time, it has some filler in it. The rest of the bus is straight. The rear floor has a couple small rust holes and the belly pan on the driver’s front side has some rust holes you can see in the pictures. |

Next VW Camper van concept to be electric
Sun, Apr 5 2015The next-generation Volkswagen Transporter workhorse van (teased above) debuts on April 15, but VW is also working on a more retro-inspired van concept that would be motivated by electric power. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, Volkswagen development boss on the automotive giant's board of management, described the upcoming Camper concept to Autocar at the New York Auto Show. On the outside, the model would feature a wide D-pillar, boxy design and small front overhang to maintain a classic look. "The distance from the A-pillar to the front end must be very short," he said to Autocar. For power, an electric motor would spin the front axle, and the batteries would be located under the floor. Dr. Neusser was clear that the electric van was just a concept but didn't say when it might debut. He also didn't indicate if the vehicle shared a platform with the new T6 or some over model in the company's lineup. VW has been toying with building a retro-style van for over a decade. In 2001, it showed the Microbus concept, and a decade later there was the Bulli. Neither of them ever actually saw production.
VW clubs pay it forward to fix elderly woman's vandalized '69 Bus
Sun, Jan 11 2015Not long after Thanksgiving, surveillance cameras caught four boys in Arizona throwing rocks through the windows of a 1969 Volkswagen bus belonging to an elderly woman called Ann. A few nights later they returned to the scene of the first crime and repeated it, smashing windows they missed before. Ann had no other car and no way to make a living, but when Jesus Aguilera – a member of the Arizona Bus Club – came across the incident on a Facebook page, he got to work. When he was finished, the AZ Bus Club and the Tucson Mob Squad had donated thousands of dollars to pay for new glass and get it installed, and now Ann has a magic bus she can drive again. Andretti Autosport partners with Volkswagen for Global Rallycross season
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Michael Andretti and Volkswagen have both been involved in Global Rallycross for a couple of years, but not together. Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the final round of the 2012 GRC series in Las Vegas, and there were rumors then that Andretti was going to get in. Around the same time there were news reports that Volkswagen was preparing a 600-hp Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class; the photo above is racer Anton Marklund in his privateer Marklund Motorsports Polo at the 2013 X-Games round in Los Angeles.
Now it's official: Andretti Autosport will campaign the 2014 GRC season with VWs. That's all that's been said for now, Andretti being busy at the moment launching four entries for IndyCar, two for Indy Lights and two for Pro Mazda. We have a feeling we'll be seeing the MkVII Golf involved, but the cars and the driver lineup will be presented at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.
