Selling my wife's car.  Super nice 2001 VW Turbo Diesel Beetle.  This has been her daily commuting car, but with our second child born, it has become impractical to use with two car seats.  Wanting to upgrade to more family geared car... So here's your opportunity to own a highly sought after car!!

This Beetle runs awesome, you probably won't find a better one any time soon!  Super running diesel Bug.  Very reliable.  Clean, no smells, super solid, ready to go!  Averages 45+ MPG!!  No shimmys, rattles, or weird noises.  Tracks straight and rolls smooth.  Starts smooth and automatic transmission works as should.   All lights, horn, accessories work as should. Added a panzer plate from diesel geek dot com, it's a super heavy duty aluminum skid plate to protect engine and transmission. Paid $300.
The beetle looks pretty good for being a 2001, although, I'm not going to lie, it is a 2001 and has it's fair share of scratches, dings, and patchy clear coat flake.  The hood and top have the most clear coat fade.  Please see pictures.  All in all, it's in ok shape.  Front lower valance is missing, missed a turn this pass winter, hit a ditch and messed it up.  Can be found here on Ebay for $200. Front left hand corner of bumper got cracked and flaked some paint off.  See pic.
Mechanically, car is in great shape and would drive anywhere.  No oil leaks anywhere!  All maintenance is up to date.  All records availible with car.  Recent maintenance includes new injector pump, fuel filter, and new timing belt.  Tires are in newer Goodyear TripleTread tires in excellent shape and all match.  An extra set of snow tires will be include in sale of beetle.  Newer front and rear brakes, new front rotors, new serpentine belt, new air filter, and mass flow sensor, two brand new OEM headlights!  Old headlights were faded and dim.  Hot heater, ice cold A/C, Radio is an Sony cd with aux input.  Wife wanted to listen to her tunes!  Stock VW radio will be included in sale.  I have 3 keys for this car.  1 collapsible, with alarm button, and trunk pop, and the other 2 are valet keys.
Since we have owned the car, the airbag light has been on.  VW mechanic told us it was the passenger seat belt latch switch bad, but explained it would not affect operation of air bags.  We just never got it fixed.  This past spring the check engine light has come on and the VW mechanic explained that the glow plug wiring bridge needs replaced to correct fault.  Have receipt with estimate.  Figured I'd do it myself this summer, but have not gotten to it.  The part sells on Ebay for $60.  Glow plugs are only needed when it gets cold, so daily summer driving has been no problem.  Headliner has slight sag, and drivers seat has minor rip, see pic.
I live minutes from Columbus Ohio.  If high bidder lives out of state would like to fly in to Port Columbus, would be willing to meet at airport.  Please email me if you believe this would be an option for you.  My reserve is slightly below my Buy it Now price.  I purchased this Beetle off Ebay almost two years ago, and have sold several other of my vehicles here on Ebay.  Title is clear and have in hand.  If you live in the area and want to take for a test drive, please message me.
I have been truthful about any and all issues.  Bid with confidence!  My wife and I have been buying and selling on Ebay since '95 with Excellent feedback.  If you have any questions or if I have left something out, please email me and will respond an quick as possible.

VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.

To solve diesel problem, VW might need two fixes

Fri, Oct 2 2015

Volkswagen says that a fix is on the way for its 11 million vehicles around the globe that are equipped with diesel engine software that can evade emissions tests. The problem might be far more complicated than simply creating a single solution for all of them, though. According to Automotive News citing Reuters, two remedies to cover different NOx-reducing systems could be necessary, and both potentially affect performance. Earlier examples of the EA 189 diesel engine used a lean NOx trap to reduce the harmful material coming from the tailpipe. According to experts in the Automotive News report, a software update might allow the engines to achieve compliance, but that could affect fuel economy. VW already tried this route once before the scandal came to light, but tests by the California Air Resources Board still showed the figures were too high. Later, some of the 2.0 TDI engines began using Selective Catalytic Reduction that reduced NOx by injecting a urea solution into the exhaust stream. According to Automotive News, a software update for this equipment might increase the amount of the substance used. Not only would that mean topping up the fluid more often, but there still could be some reduction in fuel economy. But, since the 2-liter, 4-cylinder TDI engine that sits inside the diesel vehicles first mentioned as being affected by the issue in the US don't have a urea treatment system, VW would need to install them into these cars. VW still hasn't officially outlined its solution (or solutions) to the emissions issue but is expected to soon. The automaker's long-term evasion of regulations with these diesel engines pumped vast quantities of additional NOx into the air. The substance is known to be linked with smog and acid rain. The US Department of Justice is already beginning an investigation into the company, and politicians are pushing for harsh punishments.

New safety and connected features help distinguish VW's lineup

Sat, Aug 1 2015

Volkswagen may have wrested the title of world's largest carmaker away from Toyota this week, but the company still has some work to do in the United States. Despite its worldwide dominance, Volkswagen's American sales have languished. Unlike its red-hot Audi brand, mainstream Volkswagen sales have been afflicted by an assortment of maladies. An aging lineup, a reputation for mechanical gremlins and a lack of a competitive crossover vehicle have all hurt. In the US, the brand's cars claim only two percent of the overall market. As we reported earlier today, Volkswagen took steps this week to upgrade some broader aspects of its weaknesses here. At its Electronics Research Laboratory in Silicon Valley, the company announced it would make several advanced safety features and connectivity options available throughout the bulk of its lineup. Features that have long been available on its premium Audi cars will spread to its more economical offerings. In one big way, they will overstep their premium siblings. Volkswagen said Apple CarPlay, Android Auto (pictured below) and MirrorLink will all be available on a revamped infotainment system. Cars equipped with the new Car-Net-branded systems are arriving in showrooms now. Only last month, Hyundai became the first to offer CarPlay, debuting the smartphone-projection system in its 2015 Sonata. Chevy, Honda, and now Volkswagen, have quickly followed suit. On the safety-minded side, features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, park steering assist and automatic post-collision braking will be optional equipment on most of the brand's 2016 model-year cars. Previously, the features had only been available on the Touareg SUV. They're now available on most Golf variants, the CC, Jetta, Sportwagen and some Beetles. Though the Passat sedan is one of the company's most competitive cars, it was curiously absent from the announcements, though an update could come later this year. While the advanced safety equipment is a boon for motorists increasingly interested in the technology, Volkswagen also added some basic safety tech that's long been available in mainstream competitors' cars, adding features like blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning. One of the big differences consumers might note is the cost of the driver-assistance systems.
