THIS IS OUR 2001 VW BEETLE GLS WITH 2.0L ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WE HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND JUST NEED MORE ROOM. IT IS IN GOOD OVERALL CONDITION WITH GOOD TIRES, NO ENGINE TRANSMISSION OR OTHER DRIVETRAIN PROBLEMS. DOES NOT SMOKE OR USE OIL, NO ENGINE KNOCKS OR NOISES. IT WAS IN A MINOR ACCIDENT BEFORE WE GOT IT THAT REQUIRED A NEW FRONT BUMPER HOOD WINDSHIELD AND AIRBAGS THE ENTIRE CAR HAS BEEN REPAINTED. THE FRONT STEERING RACK, LEFT CV JOINTS, BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED SINCE THEN IT NEEDS A FEW OTHER REPAIRS, 1, AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, THE CLOCKSPRING IS SUSPECTED, I HAVE A USED PART AND WILL INCLUDE IT. 2. THE AC CONDENSER HAS A LEAK, I HAVE THE NEW PART AND WILL INCLUDE IT. 3. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES AND GOES (NOT DIAGNOSED BUT I RESET IT AND IT CAME BACK AFTER A FEW DAYS) 4. RIGHT TURN SIGNAL BLINKS VERY FAST (ALL BULBS WORK) 5. THE AC CONDENSER FAN HAS SOME CHIPS AND CRACKS, WORKS BUT WILL EVENTUALLY NEED A NEW FAN BLADE. IF YOU CAN REPAIR THESE YOURSELF YOU CAN GET A REAL BARGAIN, THE CONDENSER WAS SLIGHTLY BENT IN THE ACCIDENT BUT WORKED GOOD, THE CONDENSER FAN WAS PROBABLY ALSO DAMAGED FROM THE ACCIDENT. CAR IS ROADWORTHY AND CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE YOU WANT TO TAKE IT AS IS. IT HAS VALID VIRGINIA INSPECTION, LICENSE, AND INSURANCE AND CAN BE INSPECTED AND TEST DRIVEN BY APPOINTMENT IN THE RICHMOND / WILLIAMSBURG VIRGINIA AREA FOR SALE AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY BUYER IS RESPONSIBILE FOR INSPECTING THE CAR BEFORE BIDDING, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, THE ABOVE STATEMENTS ARE MY HONEST OPINIONS OF WHAT THE CAR NEEDS. VW launches special edition Touareg X
Tue, 03 Dec 2013Volkswagen is no stranger to special editions, but its Touareg SUV has remained largely unspecial in terms of exclusive trims or unique packages. That's changed with the announcement of the Touareg X, a 1,000-unit run based on the V6 TDI Lux trim - mid-range diesel model, between the navigation-equipped TDI Sport and the TDI R-Line.
The already special Touareg gets 19-inch "Moab" wheels, LED taillights (to go along with its LED DRLs) and "Touareg X" badging, while all 1,000 units will be painted Moonlight Blue Pearl. Tweaks in the cabin are equally light, with a black-on-black-on-black color scheme dominating - black Vienna leather, a black headliner and piano black trim. Aluminum bits make an appearance in the form of the door sills and pedals, although that's about it.
Other than those few aesthetic tweaks, the Touareg X is equipped largely like the Touareg Lux on which it's based. That means navigation, a panoramic sunroof, power seats, LED running lights, dual-zone air conditioning and heated power seats, among other tech pieces. Pricing starts at $56,170, making for a slight bump of $1,195 over the standard Touareg Lux.

The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...
Volkswagen planning Up! hybrid model using XL1 powertrain
Sun, 24 Feb 2013Even though we've finally gotten a look at the production version of the 261-mile per gallon Volkswagen XL1, this aero-shaped two-seater was never intended for high-volume sales. Fortunately, it sounds like the same isn't true for the car's diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain, which, according to a report from AutoCar, could make its way under the hood of another Volkswagen model: the Up! minicar (shown above).
A potential Up! Hybrid would likely be able to return some of the same impressive fuel economy numbers as the XL1, but it would be a more realistic car with more passenger space and greater production capacity. The hand-built XL1 will use a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder TDI engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the 27-hp electric motor and lithium-ion battery helps deliver an all-electric driving range of 31 miles.
One of the core pillars of the XL1's design is its lightweight construction with a 1752-pound curb weight, which makes the Up! a perfect recipient for using this powertrain since it weighs just 300 pounds more. The report says that the Up! Hybrid is still in the developmental phase, so a production version isn't expected for at least another 18 months.
