First, what we do. We are a small specialty shop and buy, sell and repair VW TDI's. In business 45 years. All cars are bought from new car dealer trade in's and some privately from our customers. All cars are checked on carfax before purchase. Each car is brought in shop and completely gone over, all mechanicals are brought to as new condition, all electronics are tested, engine is tuned on VW VAG and vehicle is road tested for 1000 miles. Body and interior are gone over and repaired as necessary, detailed and hand waxed. Basically we are restoring these cars to as close to new as possible. Now the car, let me walk around. Body and paint in excellent condition (nice color), a few small stone chips below front bumper and 2 small parking lot dings in LF door. overall looks new. I spent a day striping with silver stripe to match wheels, stripe is vinyl and can be easily removed with heat gun. Rear spoiler is factory option. No pits or scratches in glass. Wheels in excellent condition, tires are Goodyear eagle with 50% left. Nice power moonroof. All rubber trim is excellent with no drying or cracking. Looking inside car. Nice all leather interior in excellent condition. leather covered steering wheel, Car has winter package which includes heated seats (nice on that cold morning).Headliner and all interior trim excellent, no broken parts. Great sounding Panosonic AM/FM CD with cable coming out at console for your MP3 device. Driving car. Starts instantly, no smoke, no warning lights. On the road at 80, let go of wheel, goes perfectly straight. no vibration at speed, no rattles or squeaks. lots of power, suspension tight. Off highway ramp car brakes straight and ever, Suspension is tight, all shocks and struts perfect. Maybe I should keep this one, nice TDI's are getting impossible to find. 5 speed manual shifts as new and clutch feels great. A new timing belt and water pump were installed at 90k, I replaced some front end bushings and strut mounts, They were in good condition but I find new bushings make the steering feel more precise. Give me a call if interested with any questions, I also have 15 early TDI's that are being ready for sale, takes a week to go over a car and make perfect for delivery. I have a few beetles and Jetta's, a Golf and a wagon available. I do get a little more for my cars, but you are not buying a problem car and will not have to spend money fixing after purchase. Italian investigators search Lambo headquarters in VW probe
Thu, Oct 15 2015Italian investigators searched Lamborghini headquarters on Oct. 15 to look for evidence of managers' involvement in Volkswagen's emissions cheating. VW's main office in Verona was also inspected, according to Reuters. Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen, and Lambo in turn is listed as the owner of VW Group Italia. Authorities wanted to find out if employees were conscious that the vehicles were skirting emissions rules. "It is one thing if I sell water and pretend it's wine, but if I sell water believing it is wine it's different." Verona chief prosecutor Mario Giulio Schinaia said to Reuters. Italian newspaper Gazetta del Sud reported that several managers in Italy were under investigation for alleged fraud. Prosecutors in Germany have also been rigorously investigating VW, and they recently staged a similar raid on the company's headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. The automaker reportedly turned over documents and other data relating to the software defeat device. Meanwhile, VW's internal investigation has turned up little wrongdoing, though a recent leak suggested otherwise, and at least 30 managers could have known about the defeat device. The automaker has disputed that figure. Volkswagen of America CEO Michael Horn testified before Congress that he believed only a few individuals were involved. The situation hasn't been easy on VW in the US, either. The Department of Justice has also been pursuing an investigation into the automaker. Plus, state attorneys general are filing lawsuits against the company for defrauding customers. VW has until Nov. 20 to explain a repair for the problem to the California Air Resources Board. VW air rule violation allegations 'stunning,' $18B fine unlikely
Sat, Sep 19 2015The big automotive news today was the US federal allegations that VW quietly and illegally installed software on approximately 482,000 diesel vehicles sold in the United States so that they would not return substandard results on government emissions tests. To say the least, this is potentially a very big deal. You can read the details of the government's allegations here. The problem seems to be with the NOx trap. Sam Abuelsamid, a former AutoblogGreen editor who is now a senior research analyst at Navigant Research's Transportation Efficiencies program, told me that there were some hints that VW's diesel emissions strategy had issues a while back. The vehicles affected by today's announcement are all equipped with the 2-liter, 4-cylinder TDI, he said. They all have the lean NOx (nitrogen oxides) trap, whereas all other current modern diesels use urea to treat NOx emissions. "When VW launched those vehicles, I went to the TDI launch program in Santa Monica and asked them if they were going to put the diesel engine into the Tiguan because that would be an ideal application," he said. "They said no, because it would be too heavy. Turns out, the NOx trap was enough to meet the emissions standards in the smaller cars, but not the Tiguan. That seems to be where the problem is, in the NOx trap. All the other big VW and Audi diesels, they use urea, just like BMW and Mercedes do." Abuelsamid added that, in California, to do an emissions test, testers don't stick a probe up the exhaust, as you would suspect. Instead, they just do a visual test to make sure nothing was tampered with and then plug a scanner into the OBD-II port to read the codes. The news today basically says that the cars were programmed to send out false codes, giving readings that testers are looking for instead of what's actually going on. "That's the background, as far as I know at this point," he said. This could be "a black eye on the auto industry." - John O'Dell Speaking at the AltCar Expo in Santa Monica just hours after the news first broke this morning, Edmunds.com's John O'Dell said the Fed's allegations were "stunning." The idea that VW might have gamed the system, he said, "underscores how important EPA clean air numbers are, that a company would allegedly stoop to this to try and meet them. Obviously, people are paying attention to that sort of thing.
Ecotricity offering 1,000 free EV miles to new customers
Thu, Feb 13 2014Ecotricity is offering electric vehicle drivers in the United Kingdom an lengthy incentive for using green energy: 1,000 miles of free fast charging per year. Called "Green Electricity + Car," the program will power customers' homes with renewable power allow them to charge their cars through Ecotricity's national network of fast chargers, which the company has named the Electric Highway. It makes complete sense for Ecotricity. "To get the greatest environmental benefit from an electric car, it needs to be charged using 100 percent green electricity from the wind and the sun – otherwise you're still powering it from dirty fossil fuels," wrote Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity. Ecotricity, a UK-based producer of green energy, wants to bring fast charging to 90 percent of highway service stations around the UK in the near future and four fast chargers are installed per week under the Electric Highway campaign, the company says. Users can fast charge their EVs in 20-to-30 minutes. Ecotricity recently instituted a price freeze for all gas and electricity customers until April 1, reducing energy costs below what's being billed by the country's "Big Six" energy companies. Green Electricity + Car coincides with Volkswagen bringing its electric e-Up! to the British market. Volkswagen Group (UK) Limited imports VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda brand vehicles and has signed a deal with Ecotricity as its official green energy supplier. Volkswagen Group customers purchasing an EV through one of its brands can take advantage of a new, reduced-cost Ecotricity tariff and a free smart meter installation. 08 February 2014 Green Electricity + Car Drivers of electric cars will receive 1,000 free miles every year with a new electricity tariff being launched by green energy company Ecotricity. Green Electricity + Car – will not only power customers homes with green energy but also their cars (either 100% electric or plug-in hybrids), plus they'll get free access to Ecotricity's national network of fast chargers[1] – the Electric Highway. This latest move comes after Ecotricity announced a price freeze for all gas and electricity customers until the end of winter (April 1st), making them cheaper[2] than the standard tariff of the Big Six energy companies.
