Vw Convertible Bug "speedster" Style. From German Kit. Rare And Really Cool on 2040-cars
Costa Mesa, California, United States
|
Must sell this cool-looking, great driving 1969 VW Bug -- modified with a German Kit into a "Speedster" style. Body has no dents or rust. Seats have some tears, but the genuine Sheepskins give a good look and feel. Front seats only, with storage behind. Convertible top is in excellent condition. as are carpets. No cracks on dash, and varnished hardwood is removable. Lights and instruments function properly. Always starts; the Dualport 1641 runs strong; and the suspension is solid with no rattles. Dual-dual exhaust sounds just right. Doesn't burn oil and drips just a few small spots in a week. One person can handle the convertible up-down as well as the boot cover. Some have turned these into "rat-rods" and although this vehicle could be tricked that way, it's so clean that the best presentation is still a "speedster" for handling highways, back roads and cruising beach streets. I'm 72 and down-sizing my life, but whenever I have taken out this unique classic, I have felt like age eighteen and shooting "American Graffiti" for George Lucas. Everyone is amazed and wants to know the story of this rare cruiser.
Pay-Pal might be a good way to consummate a sale -- deposit of $750 within 48 hours of purchase and then whatever is best for the final exchange of cash, car and registration within one week. Of course, if you want to meet me in Southern California for the transaction, that will work. I am open to other ways of payment that are secure for buyer and seller. If you wish to see/drive the "speedster" that can be arranged via email and then phone. Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping, although I can help make arrangements on this end. My name is Gary, and I just want to see a fair deal all around. |

Move over Nissan Leaf, VW E-Golf is the new sales champ in Europe
Wed, Apr 8 2015Western European sales of the Volkswagen e-Golf electric vehicle got just extra charged up, and not just with electricity. For the first two months of the year, the VW EV overtook longstanding EV leader Nissan Leaf in terms of sales on the Continent, Aid Newsletter says. In fact, the e-Golf's 2,150 units sold in Western Europe through February was 400 more than what the Leaf managed. Norway was the key country here. With lots of EV incentives, the Leaf (not to mention the Tesla Model S) have always sold well there, but Volkswagen, through a big advertising push, moved more than three times as many e-Golfs in Norway as Nissan did the Leaf. It's sure a far cry from the US, where the Leaf remains the best-selling electric vehicle. Through February, Nissan moved 2,268 Leaf vehicles in the US, compared to 311 e-Golfs sold here. March sales didn't do much to change the balance, with 195 e-Golfs sold versus 1,817 Leafs. The e-Golf, which retails for about $36,000 in the States, gets an EPA-rated 116 miles per gallon equivalent, barely edging out the Leaf's 114 MPGe rating. The e-Golf can also go 83 miles on a single charge. Our review of the e-Golf is available here. Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept is an aspirational Jetta
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Meet the Volkswagen baby CC. Okay, that's not really it's name (VW calls it the New Midsize Coupe Concept), but this sleek, four-door coupe draws more than a little inspiration from the CC while riding on VW's MQB platform.
It's a looker, we think, and is an eye-pleasing departure from the bland styling of the current Jetta. The sleeker front end is complemented by a wider body overall (it's wider than a Passat), while the more sporting roofline and the sharp rear fascia gives the New Midsize Coupe a decidedly sporting character. LED head- and taillights add a bit more personality to this already stylish design.
Thanks to its 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, it should get along rather sportingly, as well. The run to 62 miles per hour takes just 6.5 seconds thanks to the 217 horsepower on offer. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also fitted, and contributes to an estimated 37 miles per gallon.
