Star, North Carolina, United States

Here's the story. Bought this as a surprise graduation gift. The giftee said it doesn't have A/C, I said put the top down. She said it will mess up my hair. Took her shopping, she picked out a air conditioned Mustang. Now I have a VW, Bug, Super Beetle for sale. Bought locally from an individual. They told me a few years ago that the interior had been redone, the motor was replaced with a new Scat 1766cc long block at 96,000 miles. Speedometer reads 06,400 today. The top and headliner appear to be in good shape too, no rips or tears and car has had a re-paint. The car looks good for it's age and drives great, the tires have about 80% left. Fuel gauge needs repair and heater/blower/defroster does not work. Wipers, brake lights, horn, headlamps, turn signals, am/fm radio all work properly. Brakes stops car as it should, emergency brake works, clutch and gears shift properly. Carpets look great except near your left foot, piping is coming loose. Doors could need new seals as with one window. There is some pitting on the chrome marker lights. A small ding under drivers side headlamp. A little paint bubbling barely noticeable on each side of the car at bottom before rear fenders see photos. Has convertible cover, car cover and bag included with sale. The VW bug was the first car I ever owned, this car will make someone very happy and save money on gas. 1979 is the last year of the super beetle convertible and can only go up in value if taken care of. Please call me if you have any questions before bidding or to take a test drive at 910-571-2900. 500.00 deposit to winning bidder, balance in cash or wired funds within 7 days of auctions end. Clear North Carolina title in my name. Car is sold as is with no warranty. I can assist if it needs to be shipped and know a reasonable shipper. Chauffeur not included, I don't know why but we get lots of looks when I let him drive. Low reserve for quick sale, Have a great day! |

Volkswagen Tiguan tunes up for Frankfurt show
Fri, Jun 12 2015Volkswagen is in the phase of testing where it's simply beating the crap out of the next-generation Tiguan. The German manufacturer is conducting high-altitude towing tests in the Alps of mules wearing the production-ready body of its second-gen compact CUV. This is the first time we've seen the Tiguan in its production body, and despite the ample camouflage, the resemblance to not only the Passat sedan, but the Cross Coupe GTE and CrossBlue concepts, is clear. That's particularly true based on what we can see of the new Tiguan's grille and headlight treatment. In back, the Tiguan will adopt a more sporting roofline, particularly in the aggressive rake of the D-pillar. It's significantly different than the current car, and frankly, that's no bad thing. Expect the usual array of gas and diesel four cylinders with both front- and all-wheel drive on offer. On the high end, meanwhile, our spies claim a 300-horsepower R model could eventually be added to the range. Aside from its new look, future variants could see the crossover spawn both a long-wheelbase version and a coupe-like model. That said, we're wondering how a long-wheelbase Tiguan would fit into the VW range alongside the long-rumored, American-built, three-rower. According to our spies, though, neither one of those vehicles would arrive until well after the vehicle shown above debuts. As for when we can expect to see the second-gen Tiguan, our spies point to September's Frankfurt Motor Show. Be sure to check back then.
Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE is a sleek take on brand's future CUV
Tue, Jan 13 2015Volkswagen continues its long tease leading up to an eventual US-built, seven-passenger, three-row crossover with the Cross Coupe GTE at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. While it's still affixed with the tinsel of a concept car, there are a lot of details that will arrive on VW's eventual production crossover. The wheelbase of the GTE is said to be identical to the production model, although this five-passenger CUV is actually about a foot shorter overall, Volkswagen's chief of design, Klaus Bischoff, told Autoblog. The overall shape of the GTE's greenhouse, meanwhile, will also be very similar to the car that'll come to market, although more progressive from the C-pillar forward (that's right kids, that sexy sloping rear end isn't for production). Despite the aggressive rake, a peek in the GTE's trunk revealed room for the CUV's third row. Beyond hinting at a new addition to the company's lineup, the GTE also gives us a look at future Volkswagen design, including the use of four-element LED running lamps. Body lines will be as sharp as is feasible. Look for the production version of Volkswagen's seven-passenger SUV at the end of next year. Until then, check out the two-row concept, courtesy of our live images from the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Audi exec suspended over diesel scandal
Mon, Sep 19 2016So far, just one lower-level employee has plead guilty in the ongoing VW diesel scandal. Up high, the VW CEO when the scandal broke, Martin Winterkorn, resigned right after the news came out. Other executives have also quit or been suspended as well. Today, we learn that one more executive is feeling the heat a year into the scandal. Stefan Knirsch, the head of technical development at Audi and Audi board member, is going to be suspended from his position this week because of his ties to the technology that VW Group used to cheat emissions tests. The German newspaper Bild Am Sonntag reports that Knirsch not only knew that the cheating software existed but also lied about it under oath. Knirsch previously worked at Porsche and then Audi's electrification division. He left Audi's EV efforts behind in early 2015.
