Meyers Manx Style Dune Buggy No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Merced, California, United States

Up For NO RESERVE AUCTION is this beautiful Volkswagen-powered Dune Buggy. Looks very much like a real Meyers Manx, but it's not, it is a very good copy though. If you have ever owned or driven one of these neat little cars you know what fun they are to drive! Just running errands is a blast! And a ride on a beautiful warm summer evening is pure pleasure! These little Buggies have been in demand ever since Bruce Meyers built the first one in his garage, beginning the most popular "Kit Car" that there has ever been. Many people including myself would buy an old Bug and make a Dune Buggy out of it. And if you have ever built one you also know that it's a lot of work. Here is a turn-key Buggy that you can enjoy from day one. This little jewel is a true survivor. It is built on an 1964 Bug pan, IRS and ball joint front suspension. Just this last winter it got a new paint job and all new upholstery, it's very beautiful and has been used very little since. Corbeau racing seats in front. Steel braided front brake lines. Very expensive aluminum Centerline wheels with great tires make it ride and drive very smooth. The 1600cc dual port motor was rebuilt two years ago but has only been driven about 1000 miles since then. Dual Solex carburetors give it lots of power. Turning brakes for the sand. All the lights, horn, and gauges including the tachometer work. Always been taken very good care of, older adult owned for many years. As you can see by the pictures this is a car that you will be very proud to own. Take it to your local "Bug In" and watch people admire it. Perfect for Pismo Beach, or a weekend car. It is getting harder and harder to find nice "original" Dune Buggies. NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!! This means that someone will get this great little car. Clear California title, registered in California as a 1964 VW so no smog required in California. I feel this car is a very safe (and fun!) investment. The only problem you'll have with this buggy is that your face will hurt from smiling all the time when you're driving it! Will ship anywhere in the world at buyer's expense. I can help arrange shipping, I work with a very good auto transport company that will deliver it to your door. Available for inspection anytime during the auction except Sunday 9-21, by appointment. Please remember you are bidding to buy, not just to come take a look at it. Full payment must be made within three days after the end of auction, and I don't take PayPal for payment on cars. E-Mail, or call or text me at 831-383-2499 with questions. If you have ever wanted a Dune Buggy, but don't want to build one then "This Buggy's For You!" Good Luck and HAPPY BIDDING!!!

VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.
Volkswagen incorporating gesture control into updated Golf
Tue, May 26 2015For many, the Volkswagen Golf is the epitome of the accessible mode of transportation. It is the "People's Car," after all. Yet in its next iteration, it's slated to get some trick high-end tech on board. Speaking with Auto Express, VW powertrain chief Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser revealed that the upcoming facelifted Golf will include gesture control technology. "The interior features a preview of future VW interior technologies, with smartphone applications redefined for automotive use," Neusser told AE. "The gesture control will become reality in the Golf at the end of next year." The feature is being rolled out by other automakers on decidedly more upscale offerings (like the next-gen BMW 7 Series), but look poised to democratize the technology on the far more accessible Golf as soon as next year when the updated model arrives. VW demonstrated the tech at CES with the Golf R Touch concept, which is making an encore appearance at CES Asia in Shanghai this week, where Neusser confirmed the features are slated for production. The VW Golf R Touch concept incorporated a trio of oversized infotainment displays measuring 12.8, 12.3 and 8 inches, as well as gesture-control technology and all the latest smartphone connectivity standards – including Microsoft MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Google's Android Auto.
Volkswagen reveals Golf GTI Clubsport concept at Worthersee
Wed, May 13 2015The various brands under the Volkswagen Group umbrella are bringing a slew of hot hatch concepts to the GTI-Treffen in Worthersee, Austria, this week – but the gathering wouldn't be complete without a version of the headline Volkswagen Golf GTI. And here it is. Previewed with initial details and a trio of design sketches last week, VW has now released a proper array of images showing the GTI Clubsport concept. The enhanced GTI packs an upgraded version of the stock version's 2.0-liter turbo four with 261 horsepower on tap, favorably splitting the difference between the standard GTI with the Performance package and the more potent Golf R. An overboost function even kicks in an extra 10-percent more horsepower to bring peak output up to 287 hp – just a few horses shy of the R's 292, but driving only the front wheels. As you can see, the Clubsport concept also features a more aggressive aero kit as well as upgraded rolling stock with semi-slick rubber. Most, if not all, of these enhancements are earmarked to find their way onto a 40th anniversary edition GTI, but we're unlikely to see that model in US showrooms. World premiere of the Golf GTI Clubsport at Lake Worthersee - Exclusive anniversary model for 40th birthday of the GTI - Golf GTI Clubsport debuts with 265 PS and boost function Next year, the Golf GTI celebrates its 40th birthday. Volkswagen is marking this historic event with a progressive anniversary model: the new Golf GTI Clubsport. Volkswagen will be showcasing the Golf GTI Clubsport on 14th May as part of the legendary GTI meet at Lake Worthersee, when it will make its world premiere in the form of a near-production concept car. With a power output of 195 kW / 265 PS (35 PS more than the Golf GTI Performance) and top performance temporarily increased by around a further 10 per cent thanks to a boost function, the Golf GTI Clubsport is set to take off at the start of 2016 as the most powerful production 'GTI' yet. The anniversary model is being launched not only with an extremely powerful engine, but also with an individualised interior and exclusive bodywork details. The design modifications include a completely new front bumper, new side sills, a new and aerodynamically highly innovative roof-edge spoiler and a specially developed rear diffuser. All of these features were designed with the aim of further enhancing the GTI's performance and of thereby bringing form and function into perfect harmony.
