1977 VW Beetle Sedan

In 1977 VW stopped making the sedan in Germany although they did continue to make the convertible for another two years. The US imported only 12,000 sedans that year. So by all accounts owning a 77 Bug is truly a collector's cars. What I have to offer is a low mileage sedan in basically original condition with very little rust, a great body, excellent interior and solid under body.

The tires are new and the car drives as good or better than new especially with the new shocks (see below). There is a bit of surface rust just starting on the bottom of the rear fenders. but overall she is rust free. I have the original bill of sale and manual.

What is not original (to my knowledge) are:
    the shocks, which I just replaced with new Billsteins,
          the radio, which I replaced with a period Blaupunkt (I still have to original Sapphire)
          and I did install a cigarette lighter in the right place.

What is wrong is the windshield washer does not work, but I do have the bladder.

The reason I am selling is that we are downsizing and there is no room in the garage for the Bug. For those of you who know what this is and how good condition it is in, please let me know your best offer. More pictures and details available upon request.

VW LogBox and Race App performance data logger for R models [w/video]

Now that it's got a 300-horsepower Golf R to brag about, Volkswagen wants you to be able to brag about it accurately with the LogBox and Race App performance data logging combo. Plug the LogBox into your VW's OBD II port and it sends data over BlueTooth to the Race App, measuring variables like acceleration, distance, G-force and engine performance. If you're on a circuit, it uses Google Maps to make a map of the track, and you can record live video in-app to match with the data. Volkswagen says the LogBox will be available for R models and "a range of further Volkswagen cars," so you'll want to hit up your dealer with questions before ordering. It's available from the VW accessories store for 299 euros ($365 US), but right now the free app is only available in German, in the German-language iTunes and Google Play store. There were three finalists for the World Green Car of the Year announced about a month ago at the Geneva Motor Show: the BMW i8, the Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-In Hybrid and the Volkswagen Golf GTE. With the New York Auto Show upon us and the winner scheduled to be announced tomorrow, we thought it's high time to ask our readers which one should win. 2016 VW GTI Clubsport is a new breed of forbidden fruit

And this, friends, is the closest we'll ever get to the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport. As we were sad to report, this middle child between the standard GTI and the high-performance Golf R will not be coming to our shores, no matter how much we beg and plead. For those that need a refresher, the Clubsport was inspired by a concept originally shown at Worhtersee earlier this year. Its positioning means it's up on power – there are 261 (probably underrated) horsepower in this compact Â– although mum's the word on any upgrades to the suspension. As we previously noted, the extra 51 hp over stock will get the mid-level hot hatch to 60 in just 5.9 seconds, if you opt for the dual-clutch automatic, or an even six seconds with the manual trans. Loathe as we are to admit it, aside from the extra horsepower, most of the stuff about the Clubsport appears to be aesthetic. The body kit is all new and significantly more aggressive than the what's found on the GTI, while new 18-inch wheels are standard, although 19s can be optioned. Also larger, the twin chrome exhaust tips. In the cabin, there are far more aggressive sport seats, which are quite simply too cool to be sold in the US (just kidding, it's probably some silly federal regulation).
