1973 VW beetle, I have owned and driven this car everyday from 06/11 - 4/13 when the engine had a bearing issue and I removed it. This car really meant a lot to me and I have kept strict maintenance on it until 06/13. I really enjoyed this car while I was a student and traveling nurse assistant, now that I have a new job I just can't take the time to maintain this appropriately. I want to sell it to someone that will take care of it, I am going to be completely honest about it's condition. , please feel free to call me Noah Swift 717-273-1743 or e-mail at lebnoah@gmail.com.

----------------Pro's---------------

Minimal Rust
Dash has no sun damage
Both drive shafts replaced last year
Totally replaced ignition switch and signal wiring in steering column
Up to PA inspection standards on 5/13
No braking leaks or issues
No issues with gas tank, rubber gas hose replaced recently (gas gauge float does not work sometimes)
No stripped bolts on body or on trans-engine mount (transmission rubber boots intact, replaced last year)
No electrical issues
Shocks appear stock but I have had no issues with them.
Four brand new Touring tires with professionally painted rim
I put the transmission in myself in 2012, it was used, I bought it from a guy that was piecing a beetle in his shed for 600$. It does not slip, pop, or grind and the trans fluid is clear red with no burnt odor.
I have crawled under it every summer and sanded off any rust, then painted with about 4 coats of Rustoleum. Besides under the battery, there is no floorboard rusting. I did this with the fenders as well. Left rear fender has some rust thru (photo)
There are 2 stock seatbelts in the front with shoulder sttap, and I have installed 2 stock seatbelts in the rear.
New Cards on doors and rear. The seats are used but reconditioned with 2 tears (photos)
Headliner has no holes or sag, it is original.

-------------Con's----------------
There is NO ENGINE, it does come with a new Sachs Clutch (photo)
The steering shakes and should be restored, I am including a lot of the items needed for this (photo). If you are going to take the time to dissmantle the steering system this far I would recommend changing the steering box while you are up there, they cost about $100.00.
Window rubber and body rubber between fenders needs replaced., Front and Rear window rubber is like new.
Trunk and hood need re-aligned to open and shut correctly, all of the hardware is attached, it just needs reset.
Minor dents and minor rust (photos)
Speedometer cable is attached but nod placed into wheel.. speedometer does work.
Rear Light is cracked and will need replaced.
T-Bars (bumper bars) are not tightened down thoroughly, you will have to buy bolts from hardware store.
The assembly or opening and closing heater-vent is not there, you will need to buy these assemblies, I was holding open the vent with twist ties all winter then removing them in spring.
There is no radio, but it is ready to be connected to one and the speakers in both doors are new and do work.
You will need to buy some flashing for e.j. the hood and the panel under the doors.
The wipers work, I could never figure out how the wiper spray system works with the spare tire, but the assembly for this connection is there.
There is a rubber seal in the engine compartment essential for proper engine use.. you will need to replace this rubber seal.

--------------Included!!!!---------------

Brand new Sachs Clutch Set
1 year old Bosch Starter
Electronic heater blower
Spare Tire
Two Rollers, Two tie rod ends, and new set of polyurethane replacement bushings.
Two fan belts
One condenser

Best cheap SUVs: You don't have to pay a lot to get a lot

Sat, Oct 28 2023

Here's a news flash: Everything is a lot more expensive now! And that definitely goes for new SUVs, with prices that keep nudging higher and higher. Actually "nudging" might be too soft of a description for their motion. "Skyrocketing" is probably more accurate.  While higher prices and hefty interest rates have likely knocked a lot of people out of the new car market entirely, there are still quite a few cheap SUV choices. Better still, they're not terrible! Far from it, in fact. While the lowest price SUVs used to be drab, sorry affairs best left to the lots of Avis and Budget, that is definitely not the case today. Not only are there legitimately appealing cheap SUV choices, they offer genuine differences in character, capability and design. It's not just a series of anonymous boxes with different badges. Below you won't just find a simple list of the cheapest SUVs available. We are actually pointing out the best ones. They are listed from least expensive to most expensive, with none exceeding a starting price of $30,000. Most are subcompacts, but a few of our top choices in the compact SUV segment snuck on. Finally, please excuse the crummy photo quality. We sought out representative trim levels of the prices in question rather than just reusing pretty carmaker-provided photos of the most expensive trim levels. This is what the cars will actually look like. Kia Soul Why it stands out: Ample space and abundant features for the money; unique style; strong turbo engine upgrade Could be better: All-wheel drive is not available Starting Price: $21,315 Read our most recent Kia Soul Review The Kia Soul definitely didn't start off as a small SUV, and the term "crossover" is probably better applied to it. Still, what started life as an undefinable funky tall hatchback now finds itself in its third generation with numerous vehicles of similar shape and size that are dubbed "small SUV" or "small crossover." If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ... Call it what you will, but the Soul delivers the goods with tons of equipment and space for its price and size, an agreeable driving demeanor, and an even more powerful engine upgrade than the Kona's. We also think it's pretty cool. All of the above helped it win our subcompact SUV comparison test. Now, if there's one area where the Soul does not satisfy a typical SUV requirement, it's the lack of available all-wheel drive.

Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.

Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move

Tue, Dec 6 2016

With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
