Enjoy the fun of a vintage Beetle...buy this one for less than many comparables. We took this in on trade from the owner who had full intention of completing a total restoration. She found some financial trouble and had to part with her 'baby'. She had spent a lot of money to make it mechanically sound. It does start reliably, and drive very well. It has a new carburetor, and many other new/rebuilt parts.
Left to do is the cosmetic, appearance items. The original orange exterior paint is pretty good...I'm thinking a good buff and wax will bring it out very well. The wheels and bumpers do show some surface rust, as do the engine exhaust tips. All glass is good...blemish free. The interior will benefit from a good cleaning. The cloth seats are good, without rips or tears. The headliner is intact, but there are two rips in the back seat area. The passenger side window crank is missing. I think this bug is a great 'project' for anyone wanting to do a restoration --without being overwhelmed -- financially or emotionally. The tires are fat with strong tread. They are Kumho P205/75R15 black walls. I have tried to describe this vehicle as best I can, but you understand our need to sell it AS-IS -- WITHOUT WARRANTY! Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
Volkswagen throws a Polo-palooza with four new or upgraded models
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Volkswagen unveiled a parade of new and upgraded Polo models at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, including the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo (pictured above). While they will likely never make an appearance this side of the pond, it is fun to see what European subcompact drivers will be driving later this year.
The new BlueMotion models represent the most efficient petrol and diesel options in their class, according to VW. The BlueMotion TDI offers just 73 horsepower from its diesel engine but gives the equivalent of 76 miles per gallon (US) in the EU test. The BlueMotion TSI brings a little more power with its 88-hp petrol engine and has a combined rating of 57 mpg (US) in the EU cycle.
The Polo BlueGT provides a balance of performance and economy, and for the 2014 model, it gains a 9-horsepower boost to its 1.4-liter turbocharged to give drivers 147 hp at the press of the accelerator. This year's car also has an optional Sport Select suspension with electronically controlled dampers to improve handling a bit. It's still fitted with active cylinder management to use as little gas as possible when cruising.
