1970 Vw Bug Project Car on 2040-cars

Year:1970 Mileage:68241

Classic project car 1970 VW Bug base model, California car all it's life with minimal surface rust underneath on the original chaise, one of the owners undercoated the car so it has the original floors still in good shape, and all the big rust arias have been fixed since I have had it.
1500cc single port motor just gone through and in good shape, not original motor, but the car came with a 1500cc single port. 4 speed trans. New carpet , new door panels, and lots of  new parts. was painted cheaply but looks good and has all the trim on it. The seats are in good shape except for the drivers seat has a small rip on it's side upper. the headliner is shot but I have taped it for now.new tires a year ago and rims and all is in good shape to travel with it to your home, and drive for another 30k miles when the car is ready. The spare tire is blown but comes with a  good rime to have for a spare tire. This was going to be my daily driver bug and is a gas saver, but I have to suddenly move back to the east coast and have too many cars. This car is still a project and is sold as is, needs may things to be a resto, but it's on it's way and has received lots of love, most of all it's a really good body for it's year and will be a charmer for a daily driver car or part time vw guy/ first car. I put on the tires and rims along with all the other parts. I rebuilt the 1500cc engine and installed it, was a running motor that leaked so I re gasketed everything. The car needs lots of parts to make it right, but has breaks and a good clutch. I have been working on it but have not test driven the car yet, is missing the exhaust but will include one after auction winner bids for the car. the shocks need replaceing and im working through the wiring to make sure everything is useable to the best that I can.  I have not driven the car yet, it's only been a year in my ownership, so I'm not sure of all that it needs to restore or drive it, but Im selling it at a smoking deal here on EBAYmost of the essentials are handled. and it has 3 working pedles, the car is a solid  fixable project and will need love to get it right. Car is sold as is and buyer needs to pick it up. The good news is if you have a truck with a ball hitch, they sell tow bars locally for VW for about $150. Hope this helps, and happy biding.

VW makes $9.2B offer for rest of truckmaker Scania

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Volkswagen owns or has controlling interests in three commercial truck operations: besides its own, VW began buying shares in Sweden's Scania in 2000 and now controls 89.2 percent of its shares and 62.6 percent of its capital, then bought into Germany's Man in 2006 - in order to prevent Man from trying to take over Scania - and now owns 75 percent of it. The car company has managed to work out 200 million euros in savings, but believes it can unlock a total of 650 million euros in savings if it takes outright control of Scania and can spread more common parts among the three divisions.
It has proposed a 6.7-billion-euro ($9.2 billion) buyout, but according to a Bloomberg report, Scania's minority investors don't appear inclined to the deal. Although effectively controlled by VW, Scania is an independently-listed Swedish company, and a profitable one at that: in the January-September 2013 period its operating profit was 9.4 percent compared to Man's 0.4 percent. Some of the other shareholders believe that Scania is better off on its own and will not approve the deal, some have asked an auditor to look into the potential conflict of interest between VW and Man, while some are willing to examine the deal and "make an evaluation based on what a long-term owner finds is good," which might not be just "the stock market price plus a few percent." The buyout will only be official assuming VW can reach the 90-percent share threshold that Swedish law mandates for a squeeze-out.
Many of the arguments against boil down to investors believing that Scania's Swedishness and unique offerings are what keep it profitable, and ownership by the German car company will kill that. (Have we heard that somewhere before?) If Volkswagen can buy that additional 0.8-percent share in Scania, perhaps its buyout wrangling with Man will give it an idea of what it's in for: "dozens" of minority investors in the German truckmaker have filed cases against VW, seeking higher prices for their shares. It is likely only to delay the inevitable, though. If VW is really going to compete with Daimler and Volvo in the truck market, it has to get the size, clout and savings to do so.

Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.

Carlex Criollo is a Volkswagen Multivan shrine to Alcantara, leather and... fish

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

A keen angler recently went to Polish tuner Carlex Design (the same folks who did that steampunk Mini Countryman a while back) for a revamp of his Volkswagen Multivan. What resulted is perhaps the most striking - yet fishing-unfriendly - interior we've ever seen in a van. Below the shoulder line, if a surface isn't covered in cross-stitched Alcantara, then it's covered in cross-stitched leather. Even the steering wheel airbag boss. And the seat supports. And the cupholders.
The brown hue of the Multivan's interior is called Criollo, named for an especially fine specimen of cocoa. The finishing touch on the overhaul is a fileting knife that Carlex made for the owner. We imagine he'll use the knife for the marine life, but keep his van far away from it.
