This is a great 1969, all original, beetle. I'm relisting due to a nonpaying bidder. When I bought the car, from the original owner, it was not running. I rebuilt the carb. changed the fuel filter, cleaned the fuel tank, put in a new battery and started driving it. Since then I have also redone the brakes. I also put in a new speedo cable (the other one made a noise at around 60 mph). No rust anywhere  (check out pics. of the undercarriage). The oil light came on the last trip to work. It had been flickering on and off since I purchased it. I think the sensor went out or the wire is grounded. I hooked up an oil pressure gauge today (see pics.) it has 40 psi. perfect. I have the statement of origin documentation from the original owner. It shows the bug coming into New Orleans to intl auto sls, then to Norman Harris VW inc. in Jackson Ms., then to the guy I bought it from. It has not been out of Jackson since purchased. He signed under the third assignment. If you want to see the paper work send me your cell # and I'll send you a pic. Car has original tools and spare and jack. Comes with manual and keys (original and new). Also has a note book where the owner documented all of the service. This is the cleanest, best driving all original 1969 beetle with only 46,000 miles that I have ever came across. Look at the pics. close. What you see is what you get. Feel free to ask questions. Thank you for your interest in my item. If you have less than (10) (positive) feedback, email before bidding, if not I will cancel your bid. Good Luck!

2014 Volkswagen XL1 [w/video]

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

World's Most Efficient Car Impresses, Not Without Compromises
Among our many duties at the recent Geneva Motor Show, we were offered a pretty exclusive drive in the new Volkswagen XL1 hyper-efficient plug-in diesel hybrid. There is so much that is interesting about a car like this reaching production from a major automaker that it's tough to know where to begin.
First off, you should know that - at least for this generation - there is absolutely no chance in Albuquerque that this "1-liter vehicle" (i.e. a vehicle that can burn just one liter of fuel to travel 100 kilometers, or 62.1 miles) will ever make it into the hands of North American customers. We, too, were having trouble imagining an XL1 in typical American traffic, surrounded by comparatively massive pickups and SUVs. The driving experience had us recalling a couple of weeks in 1999 when we drove the then-revolutionary Honda Insight hybrid on US roads. We keenly remember the feeling of being very small and vulnerable, even as we felt proudly green in our 61-mpg Tochigi pod. Thing is, the Volkswagen is smaller still, and nearly as light despite its more complex drivetrain and safety features.

Volkswagen Golf Variant Concept R-Line puts the sport in SportWagen

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

With the introduction of the newest Volkswagen Golf Variant, we get an early look at what will most likely be the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here in the US. To further wet our appetities, VW is now teasing something a little sportier with the Concept R-Line. Looking the part of a GTI wagon (or a stretched Golf R), the Golf Variant Concept R-Line has a production-ready appearance that has us hoping we'll see this sporty wagon sooner rather than later.
The R-Line starts off with a new fascia that isn't quite as aggressive as the recently introduced GTI, but it gives the new styling some extra punch. Below the fascia is a lower splitter that visually carries back into the rocker panel extensions, and the rear of the car gets some bright exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint job probably does enough on its own to add a sporty flair to the Golf wagon, and it's all finished off with 18-inch split-spoke wheels. Inside, the Concept R-Line shows off sport seats wrapped in carbon leather featuring blue nappa inserts in the middle.
Rightfully so, VW brought the Concept R-Line to Geneva with its TDI and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. A sporty, all-wheel-drive diesel wagon? Yes, please. Scroll down for the full press blast with all the details.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
