You are bidding on a rust free 1969 Volkswagen.  If you're looking for an absolute show stopper, then keep looking.  This is a very honest, original bug.  It runs and drives like a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles should... Very tight, and always cranks right up.  I believe the paint had been freshened up to the original color at some point in time in the past, but was a very nice exterior cosmetic resto.  The interior is original, but has worn less than you might expect out of a vehicle that's over 40 years old.  Another nice touch about this bug is it is equipped with the hard-to-find automatic stickshift transmission.  It functions flawlessly, and is easy to operate.  Everything works, and is in amazing condition for a largely unrestored vehicle.  It does include the original owners manual along with service history.  Like I said, if you're looking for a perfect car, then keep looking.  If you're looking for a very presentable driver that you can drive anywhere without reservation, then this is exactly what you're looking for.  My reserve has been lowered for a quick sale.  Would be an amazing Christmas present that will increase in value for years to come!  Please feel free to ask questions, and I will do my best to answer them.  Also, please excuse the pictures.  I rinsed it off and took them after the sun had started going down.  It really shines like new, but will try to get some better pics up in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking!  Happy Bidding!

On Nov-15-13 at 14:14:54 PST, seller added the following information:

... Ok, I do have better exterior and interior pictures and a video now.  The previous pictures really do not do this vehicle justice!  eBay will not allow me to delete existing pics, so please send me a message with your information, and I will forward them over to you.  Furthermore, if you'd like additional pics of any particular area of the vehicle, let me know and I will make sure I get them for you.  This may end up being the deal of the month on eBay if you're interested in an unmolested original beetle!

VW considering single, cheaper li-ion cell for all plug-in vehicle batteries

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Volkswagen is finding rapid success in the battery electric vehicle market; especially in Europe where the e-Golf is already the segment sales leader. Recent concepts like the C Coupe GTE, Sport Coupe GTE and Cross Coupe GTE suggest more plug-in hybrids from the company are on the way, too. To make future models more economical, the German automotive giant is considering switching to a standard design for its lithium-ion battery cells. Using standardized parts is a long-accepted principle in production because it leads to economies of scale, and a company can pass on the savings to buyers or pocket the money to boost profits. VW is aiming for a massive 66-percent drop in costs by switching to a unified design, according to Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the board member in charge of development, to Automotive News. While the cells would be uniform, they could be crafted into different modules to fit each specific model. VW currently buys cells from Panasonic and Samsung for various models, but under the new plan all of the automaker's brands would switch to a single one. "We have a clear understanding in the group of a common cell," Neusser said, according to Automotive News, without suggesting when a change might happen. VW also has a few months decide on a different future for its EVs. The automaker is reportedly considering whether to use sold-state lithium-ion batteries from a US-based supplier for upcoming models. The next-gen tech could potentially give a massive boost in range while also being fireproof.

Meet ZelectricBug, the amazing '63 VW Bug converted to EV power

Thu, Feb 27 2014

No word a lie, we here at AutoblogGreen are fans of classic cars. What we are not fond of, however, is the pollution that their inefficient engines create, and so it's great to see our old favorites lovingly up-cycled with electric drivetrains. The ZelectricBug is a beautiful example of how new, cleaner life can be breathed into an old Volkswagen Beetle. Now, we first came across this particular automobile during the Refuel event last summer and we were struck by its cleanly done conversion then. Aside from a few snaps in our gallery, though, we didn't give it the kind of attention it deserves. Fortunately, the good folks over at Roads and Rides have rectified this by turning their pro video camera skills onto the 1963 V-Dub and producing a nice little segment to accompany their write up. Scroll below to see the finished footage and head over to their website for some stills. If all this gives you a hankering for your own Zelectric, the company does have plans to sell to the public starting this summer. If you don't want to wait, EV West, the guys who did the drivetrain work on this car, have conversion kits available for Beetles, as well as a number of other vehicles.
