BODY IN FAIR/GOOD CONDITION: MOTOR MISSING CARBURETOR
You are bidding on a 1968 VOLKSWAGEN * SEDAN , non-operational. This car is being offered as a PARTS CAR....or it can be rebuild with little effort. The car has been sitting for awhile. Overall condition of body is FAIR / GOOD. This car comes with high back seats. Rear bottom seat cushion is missing (will up-date ad if found). This vehicle is 99 % complete. Body appears to be in good condition with no major dents. Front and rear fenders appear to be good, quarter panels are good, front and rear clips show no signs of damage. Has good gas tank, headliner is in place but shows wear. All the glass is original, front windshield broken, all other glass in good condition (has pop-out windows). Both front & rear bumpers in fair condition. Both doors, in good working condition, windows roll up & down with little ease. There is very little rust on this car, I check the pan for rust issues, found NO major rust out. The hood & deck lid are in fair/good condition. Steering wheel good, horn ring good, dashboard good, wiring has not been 'messed with' there is no radio. The tires are fair/good condition (good rollers), but will need replacement if you plan to rebuild this vehicle. The rear wheels are five lug, not four lug as would be on '68 car (not sure what's going on there), early transaxle? Running condition UNKNOWN....comes with a stock 1500 cc motor. The motor is almost complete, the carburetor has been removed, the motor turns by hand. Note: I'm not sure of exact mileage, so I listed as 100.000. The rear license plate is attached to the deck lid, not sure if there is one for the front....please see all pictures. Located in Salinas, California and is being sold AS-IS and WHERE-IS. As I stated, this vehicle can be a builder or an excellent parts car. Comes with a BILL OF SALE.
Please note: I'm selling this car for a friend. If you have any questions or need additional pictures please email me and I will do my best to answer them (please, don't wait until the last day to ask, this car is a few miles from my home). The successful bidder will need to move the vehicle with-in one week (7 days) after purchase. Additional time may be granted, however buyer will need to contact me for approval. I'm not in a position to actually move the vehicle, however I can assist in making arrangements. Thank you and good luck bidding!

Volkswagen Cross Up! aimed at rugged lifestyle folks, complete with plastic cladding
Wed, 06 Mar 2013If you thought there was nothing wrong with the Volkswagen Up! that a little body cladding wouldn't fix, you're in luck. VW has officially pulled the wraps off the production version of the Cross Up!, and its wheel arches and rocker panels are full of the black plastic cladding you've been yearning for.
In addition to the "particularly rugged design and tough, lifestyle qualities" that the cladding exudes, VeeDub has also seen fit to put its Cross Up! on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 185/50-series tires. Inside, there are new kick plates to go along with a dash pad that can be had in red, black or silver.
All that cladding must equal additional off-road readiness, right? Well, sure... just so long as you're fine with the same 75-horsepower three-cylinder engine that all other Up! models also feature, along with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels, again, just like all other Up! models. The Cross Up! appears to have a taller ride height than other models, but we haven't been able to find out what - if any - changes have been made.
Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
