1966 Vw Beetle Original California Black Plate Beauty-no Reserve on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
|
NO RESERVE AUCTION Finished in classic Red and Black with
White interior, this 1966 VW Beetle is among the most sought after of all
classic Beetles. A very nice original
survivor. The 1600 dual port engine was powerful, frugal on gas, and could sing
at high RPM all day long. Although i
don't have any history or paperwork on the engine, the car was purchased from
the family of the original owner. There
is no engine smoke, it pulls very strong, and is nice and quiet with stock
exhaust. The 4 speed transmission shifts quite and smooth. This is an excellent collectable that can
double as a daily driver, strong and well-constructed. This
car has been maintained beautifully and is ready for a new owner to enjoy
immediately.
Car is extremely solid, heater
channels, floor pan and body and no rust. Fenders were repainted in black and were done professionally. The rest of the red paint appears to be
original color to the car and is very presentable with some small scratches and chips over the years. Interior is original to the car -
it's worn but held up very nice with some small rips and tears. All original factory glass with correct markings. Car is currently registered, insured and road
worthy. Please call Mike at 916-764-9759 with any questions. E-mail me for link to my Photobucket pictures. I reserve the right to end the auction early if a reasonable offer is made and accepted. ****************UPDATE************************************************* A friend of mine who worked for VW and has over 40 years of VW mechanic's experience, looked over my car and gave me the following information: 1. Engine case is marked AE which means that the engine is a 1971 - 1973 1600CC 2. engine has a dual port intake with an adaptor for the Solex H30-3 3. Stock style distributor 4. German Blaupunkt radio that works 5. He believes that this car was made for the German market but sold to an American Serviceman 6. He located a small rust hole under the battery about 1" by 3" not uncommon for these cars. 7. He took it for a drive and found that it runs and drives very nice, engine pulls strong and the trans up-shifts and down-shifts very smoothly. He was very impressed. Thanks. VW and Audi recall Tiguan and Q5 to replace Takata inflators
Sat, Feb 6 2016The Basics: Volkswagen and Audi will recall 734 examples of the 2015 Tiguan with production dates between January 15, 2015, and January 21, 2015, and the 2015 Q5 built between January 13, 2015, and February 3, 2015. The Problem: The vehicles have driver and passenger seat side airbag inflators from Takata that could rupture in a crash. Injuries/Deaths: A side airbag ruptured in a 2015 Tiguan in June 2015, and the driver sustained slight injuries under the left arm. The person didn't need to seek medical attention, Audi spokesperson Mark Clothier told Autoblog. This is the only reported injury. The Fix: VW and Audi dealers will replace the side airbag modules. If You Own One: VW and Audi will advise owners about the recall but don't yet know specifically when repairs begin. Translogic 168: CES 2015 Roundup
Wed, Jan 14 2015Translogic and the yearly CES glorious gadget geekout go together like digital peanut butter and high-def jelly. At this year's show, surrounded by an egg-shaped Mercedes-Benz concept and the re-introduction of, of all things, the Sony Walkman, we had some fun. Between talking with Volkswagen about its new gesture-control tech and flying some video drones, we squeezed in some time to shred on ZBoard's new electric skateboard. The future is now. Daimler boss says VW scandal dings 'Made in Germany' brand
Fri, Nov 6 2015"Made in X." "A product of X." "From X with pride." Virtually every country on the globe attaches some kind of moniker to the products it sells, and they generally carry a lot of weight. A Swiss-made watch is better than one made in China, and an Italian suit is better than something from Vietnam. For cars, the "Made In" label is a bit trickier, and is certainly open to opinions. That doesn't mean there isn't some nationalistic pride in play. With the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal, there's real concern among at least one German that Wolfsburg has caused serious damage to the "Made In Germany" label. Daimler-Benz boss Dr. Dieter Zetsche called VW's use of emissions-cheating devices "a blow to our industry." "I think a strength of 'Made in Germany' and of the German auto industry is a perception that these are reliable brands and you can trust them," Zetsche said at a meeting of the Economic Club of Washington, The Detroit News reports. "It's up to us to rebuild that trust because we haven't done anything wrong." Zetsche also took the opportunity to reaffirm that Mercedes-Benz has never and will never use defeat devices in its vehicles. The exec also said he doesn't think the company has lost any sales from VW's cheating.
