This is just a wonderful example of beautifully restored Volkswagen Bug with some tasteful custom options. Restored a few years ago this bug was built to drive and enjoy. Mechanically this wonderful bug is in excellent condition. The motor was rebuilt and up graded to a 1600 Dual Port With a new 34 Pict Carburetor and Heavy Duty Clutch. The motor also has the CompuFire Electronic Ignition and has just had a Major Tune-Up including Oil Change. I was told that the motor doesn't have many miles on it, but didn't receive any paperwork with it. The compression is 115 to 120 on all four cylinders. I have included pictures of the engine as well as the valve train showing just how clean it is inside and out.The bug was also converted to a 12 Volt Electrical system and has a new starter and battery. The Transaxle was rebuilt as well, and is the freeway flier style with taller gears to match the motor. There is a new adjustable front end with all new tie-rods , heavy duty sway bar, KYB shocks, King and Link pins. The brakes are like new as well with new brake lines,e-brake cables, and shoes. All the electrical works, including headlights, tail lights, turn signals, stop lights, and wipers. Another very cool feature is a working locking ignition switch which locks the steering...Very Rare.
The body and floor pan is rust free and in excellent condition too. All the window seals have been replaced as well as the door seals and window scrapers. The interior has been redone too with nicely reupholstered seats, new carpet and door panels. About the only flaw is the head liner which has some tears that you can hardly see. So I'm including a new headliner with the car, along with a car cover, and front bra. This great ride also has a fantastic hidden stereo system with a Pioneer Face-Off Cd Player, Infinity Speakers, A Sub Woofer and Amplifier all professionally installed and tucked away where the only thing you see are the rear speakers.
This bug looks really sharp rolling on the polished Empi's complimented by the custom running boards. Now top that all off with the too cool retro wooden roof rack and you are riding in style. I really dig driving this bug, it's just so right and tight. It just feels good, great power, shifts, smooth, stops straight, great tunes, what more could you ask for? People are enamored with this bug everywhere it goes and want to check it out and tell stories of their VW experiences. .

GM outsold VW globaly in first quarter, Toyota reports numbers next week
Thu, 18 Apr 2013General Motors released its first quarter sales figures this week, reporting that it sold 2.36 million cars and trucks worldwide. That figure represents an increase of 3.6 percent when compared to the same period last year. GM's growth was attributed to many factors, including global Cadillac sales that were up 26 percent and Chevrolet posting a one percent increase over last year (this marked Chevy's tenth straight year of record global sales).
Volkswagen came in just behind GM, as the German automaker reported global sales from January through March at 2.27 million vehicles, an increase of five percent when compared to last year. While that number was strong, VW is cautioning that markets outside China and the US, such as those in Europe, are becoming a challenge as economies falter.
Yet to report sales is Toyota, current holder of the global world sales crown (the Japanese company sold 9.75 million cars last year, against 9.29 million sold by GM and 9.1 million vehicles sold by VW). Even though GM and Toyota both say they don't care who sells the most units, it is unquestionably a strong bragging point and sales equate to revenue. That said, Toyota will report its first quarter numbers next week.

Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn told European regulators that more stringent emissions standards too soon will be a major problem for automakers. He says that such moves could prove "fatal" for an auto industry that is still working to develop cleaner vehicles. "Every gram of CO2 that we save in our European fleet costs our group almost 100 million euros," says Winterkorn, "100 million that we have to invest in advance, without knowing when these investments pay off." He says that already creating emissions targets beyond those set for 2020 could harm European automakers competing globally. Read more at Automotive News Europe. When a Detroit Chevrolet dealership lost its Internet connection, it turned to one of its Chevy Volts for a temporary fix. After the regular connection at Buff Whelan Chevrolet went down, it plugged in a Volt showroom model equipped with 4G LTE, and used its connection to resume business. The car can handle up to seven connected devices, so the team used a Malibu to connect the rest of its computers. When a customer asked why the Volt was on, the team explained the whole situation, leading to one impressed customer. Read more at Automotive News. 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid
Tue, 12 Feb 2013More Fun Than A Prius, Less Sensible Than A TDI
Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.
