This is a five day auction. This is a beautiful classic 2 door Volkswagen beatle bug the inside is in very good condition as is the outside with only a few small spots of rust some of which i took detailed photos of see the pictures. It had valid plates until a couple days ago when the previous owner removed them. Car was mostly garaged. Has not been driven much recently. New engine about 15 years ago when last owner bought it, Odometer says 43k Seems to be running fine. This car can be viewed if you are in the Chicago area at the St Nicholas Catholic Church at 806 ridge avenue in Evanston, IL 60202 during the daytime hours over the next 5 days and also at the Same location during the annual church Rummage sale on July 20 from 8am to 3pm. This car is a real beauty and is in super condition but no guarantees are made about the engine or longevity of the car as it was a donation and it is being sold AS IS. Again, it appears to be running fine and was appraised over the phone by a VW enthusiast to be valued at significantly more than what we have set as the starting bid. 2014 VW Golf brings storied hatchback's seventh generation to US
Wed, 27 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf in US-specification officially debuts at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The new model is the first VW in the States to ride on the company's MQB architecture, and as such, it makes use of plenty of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel to keep weight down. All told, the new shell is 51 pounds lighter than the outgoing generation, despite the fact that the finished car is a full 2.2 inches longer and .5 inches wider than the 2013 model.
Buyers can expect to find a base model powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (blue car above) with 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. That means the powerplant delivers the same horsepower as the old naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder while weighing less and producing seven extra pound-feet of torque. TDI (silver car above) buyers, meanwhile, will enjoy a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder mill. VW says the engine yields 10 more horsepower than the old lump, which means the Golf TDI now boasts 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.
GTI (red car above) buyers will now get their hands on a revised 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with approximately 210 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque - Volkswagen hasn't finalized power numbers for that machine. We're happy to see that the GTI still features its trademark plaid seats. Volkswagen says the new Golf and GTI will go on sale as a 2015 model, but doesn't say when the car will actually hit dealerships.

Volkswagen Golf R wagon promises to be fast and functional [w/poll]
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Volkswagen's array of performance-oriented Golfs keeps getting bigger and bigger. What started with the GTI has since grown to include the diesel GTD, the hybrid GTE and the most powerful Golf R. But the additions haven't all come down to powertain. There's been cabrio versions of the GTI and Golf R as well, but before all is said and done, there will be one more bodystyle to join the lineup.
That, according to these latest spy shots, would be the Golf R Variant. For those unfamiliar, Variant is what Volkswagen calls the wagon version of the Golf (in some markets, anyway). It offers the Golf Variant with a variety of engines, but as the spy shots reveal, it is now working on bringing the Golf Variant and the Golf R together into one high-powered, long-roofed model.
The VW Golf R Variant would in all likelihood pack the same 2.0-liter turbo four as the hatchback, splitting 290 horsepower between all four wheels. Only in the wagon, it would offer that extra bit of utility. Of course there's no guarantee that Volkswagen would offer the Golf R Variant in the North American market, but considering that the Golf R hatchback will soon be joined in American showrooms by the Golf SpotWagen (as it's tipped to be called here) in place for the Jetta wagon, the possibility is definitely there.
