Up for sale is a restored '64 Beetle. This is a very solid car that has had a meticulous and correct restoration. Evertything on the body was removed, prepped and painted, then re-assembled so there are no masking tape lines anywhere, just like when it was new. The paint (Ruby Red) is base coat/clear coat and is as nice as you will find anywhere. The car still retains it's original German glass (except windshied) with all new rubbers, weather stripping, moldings, door handles, hubcaps, hood & trunk handles, clips, etc. Everything on the car both electrically and mechanically work fine. The door locks, windows (including vent) THE HEATER, e-brake, turn signal cancel, horn, high/low beam, ALL FUNCTION PROPERLY. All the fluids have been changed including the transaxle and brake system. Nice firm brake pedal with no pulling when applied. Brand new BFG radials with 100% tread remaining. There are no shakes in the steering wheel and runs straight when you let go of the wheel. The exhaust has been replaced along with heater boxes. Valves have been adjusted, new ignition parts, new carb and fuel pump, automatic choke operates as it should and the car starts up immediately. The car was converted to 12V especially for that reason. Please look carefully at the pictures and notice the floor boards. The normal battery piece was replaced but was done right so you can't even tell from underneath. The Saphire radio works including the pre-sets. I took a picture of the engine while the valve covers were off so you can see that it is immaculate inside. It does not smoke or make any unusual noises. It has that typical VW sound.
Very nice original VW that still requires rolling down a window to easily close the doors. The headliner, rugs, seat cover, everything, inside the car shows well. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS with this one. I encourage you to come see the car (if possible) or send some one. Ask questions if you are not sure. The only dumb question is the one not asked!
I respectfully ask only Continental US bidders to bid, if your feedback is low, you must contact me first. Please make sure your funds are in order. Your deposit is non-refundable and must be through Paypal. Thank you for looking and best of luck.

Volkswagen Golf R Variant ready to haul ass, stuff
Thu, Nov 20 2014Volkswagen seems to be playing a cruel trick on the American automotive public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's displaying its sexy Golf R Variant with no clear intention of actually selling the model here. The hot wagon launches in Europe in the spring, but the automaker makes absolutely no mention of the model's prospects in the US. Hopefully, its appearance in LA at least indicates VW is considering bringing it stateside. The great thing about this wagon is that it has everything that the regular Golf R offers, but there's even more room to carry stuff. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Performance is very close, too, with the Variant R taking 5.1 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour versus the 4.9 seconds the standard R needs to read 60 mph. The two of them also have the same tech goodies like ESC Sport stability control and multiple damping modes. The real advantage to opting for the estate is its ability to carry up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo in the back. This hot rod wagon would seem to be perfect for the family that needs to haul some extra junk in the trunk, but doesn't want to sacrifice performance. Whether the Variant R makes it to the US remains a mystery, though. Scroll down to read the specs and feel a twinge of jealousy.
UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote
Thu, 13 Mar 2014The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.
VW fix would have cost $335 per vehicle
Wed, Sep 30 2015Since the Volkswagen diesel kerfuffle began, Bosch, the world's largest auto supplier, has been hooked up to a bullhorn trying to make sure everyone knows its side of the story. Bosch supplied VW with the engine management testing software, including delivery and metering modules, that VW then used to skirt emissions laws in the US. Bosch told VW in 2007 that it was illegal to use the software in cars it planned to sell yet VW did it anyway, according to reports coming out in German newspapers Bild am Sonntag and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. That first warning came two years after VW started developing the small-displacement diesel, around the time that the two men pushing its development, then-brand chief Wolfgang Bernhard and engineer Rudolf Krebs, were telling their superiors that the engine needed AdBlue urea injection to pass US emissions. VW cost controllers wouldn't approve the AdBlue solution because it would add 300 euros ($335 US) to the cost of the vehicle. Bernhard and Krebs left the same year that Bosch advised VW about the software, two years before the engine went into production. That's when things get cloudy. A report in Automotive News says that when Martin Winterkorn took over in 2007 as head of the VW Group and brand, he asked Ulrich Hackenberg and Wolfgang Hatz to keep working on the engine, and "[the] engine then ended up in VW Group diesels" with that problematic software still intact. No one has yet pointed any fingers at this latter chain of command, but like a game of Clue, right now they're the professors in the library holding the candlesticks. Warnings didn't only come from the supplier: Frankfurter says VW's initial investigation has found that an engineer issued the same caution to the company in 2011. Neither Bosch nor VW would comment on the reports.
